British tanks moving into the display area at this years Yorkshire Wartime Experience. Nothing beats the sound of a 27 liter V12 aircraft block. Turn it up and be sure to have a good listen with plenty of bass!
would have been interesting to see a race between the cromwell and the M24 - what a cracking collection - all credit to the good people maintaining these wonderful old vehicles
@@paredesmarcangeloc.621 agreed, completely different animals, tank racing would logically be cross country and could have all sorts of fun elements, shooting, fording, ascents and descents.
@JOSEPH PRINCE Didn’t know abt the armour in relation to the Tiger, thanks for the tip. I do know that on it’s first engagement, at Dieppe, the Germans thought the Brits were using up obsolete tanks. It’s main armament a 6 pounder was fine at El Alermain in 42 against a Panzer 4 but not by the Tunisian campaign when the Panzer 4 had been up gunned. And yes it’s ability to cross hazardous terrain was second to none but it was never on a par with a Panther or Tiger regardless of both those tanks poor reliability, as you pointed out. The Comet was pretty much was on a par with Panzer 5 and 6 s but ideally we’d have had them 2 years earlier and not in the autumn of 1944.
@@jackkruese4258 the German infantry support vehicle the Churchill was most likely to encounter was a Stug, the most common German armored vehicle. I don’t think think it would too bothered meeting one of those.
Leldance 40k needed a comet with a split exhaust cowling. I think victor is a mk.1b (exhausts coming from pipes in the pack) - could be wrong - but that means there was no point for the cowling. basically the Cromwell's rear split in twp
Jammie Dodger. Truly. TRULY YES Indeed... Especially the Comet. a Reliable Simple Design... Great speed. 32MPH. a Very good Gun. The Comet was REALLY good. of course other tanks the British had worked Real well Too. The Churchill. the Valentine. The Sherman Firefly. the M4 Sherman. the M24 Chaffee. the CromWell. But yep. the Comet was the best.
Comet seems a much better track system than panzer 3 and 4 etc. A very reliable, capable fighting vehicle. Remember that England didn't want WW2 (or WW1) and so we had a lot of rearamament to do. Very regrettable conflict which cost this country dearly. Lest we forget.
What a great line up. Is that the only running Cromwell ? I've been looking up the Cromwell recently after seeing a wartime photo of an open hull gunner's hatch. It did not look escape friendly. This video shows very clearly how tight those hull hatches are, especially if the driver and front gunner are wearing the bulky tank suits.
There are 3 more Cromwells in restoration by Track And Wheel. One has just been complete, another two are on the way. There are probably more running though.
@@jackkruese4258 the German tanks are not completely superior to everything the British had, ok? And they’re not pieces of junk, they are fantastic pieces of history.
