OB Daz, Gaynor and Sophie react to the craziest "get off me" moments in college football! Link to original video: • Craziest "Get Off Me" ... Socials: officeblokedaz
College football is popular because it represents the highest level of amateur competition, features intense rivalries, provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents, and is steeped in tradition and pageantry.
@@rk12395basically🤣 the speed is really whats changed the game. You got 230lb grown men moving at 20mph in full pads🤣 every hit is a brick wall now lmao
A wise man once said “college football is beautiful because it’s the only time in sport where u can watch a future pro bowler absolutely destroy a future accountant”
Poor Sophie. Her heart is too pure for the savagery of US football. She doesn't want to see people getting flattened. Her faces are if she's watching car accidents take place.😅
@persistentlypathetic6820 dude no if you ain't physically built for it no way most dudes way 170-175 we getting flat line first way trip to the hospital bed
@@TheTruth0401 lol plenty of NFL players that are lean 175 to 180lbs lol, it's all about the way you take and get hit, the bad injuries come from helmet leaders or people who don't get low like they're supposed to.
5:13 the first guy that tried to tackle the runningback and the running back himself both play in the NFL on the same team lol. Jaire Alexander (defense) and AJ Dillion (offense) currently play for the Green Bay Packers.
The Alabama Crimson Tide has on several occasions had 98,000 fans show up to their Spring scrimmage game before a season begins. 4 starting quarterbacks in the NFL were Alabama QB's - Jalen Hurts at Philadelphia Eagles, Mac Jones at the Patriots, Tua Tagoviloa at the Dolphins, and Bryce Young at the Carolina Panthers. Derrick Henry and Mark Ingram were Alabama running backs too.
One major reason the attendance is higher in college vs nfl is that some of these big college football programs are at universities with large student bodies. The students get season tickets for very cheap. For instance Ohio State’s stadium capacity is around 110,000, but they have over 50,000 students that attend their university. It’s a huge part of your college experience and they don’t want to miss one home game.
9:50 what made rhat play even better is that was the biggest rivalry game for our team Ole Miss Vs Mississippi State. In Mississippi if we lose every game of the season but beat Mississippi state it’s a successful year 😂😂😂
Not only is College Football more widespread, 130 D1 FBS teams vs 32 NFL teams, it's also much older, 1869 vs 1920. The forward pass is older than the NFL as it was made legal in 1906.
The fastest times clocked in college and the pros is 4.2 seconds in the 40 yard dash. I think Gaynor loves American football. She seems so get a real chuckle out of watching it! 🤣
The speed and agility of these athletes are incredible. What people outside of the US may not know is a lot of the skilled position players like WR RB and QB also run track in high school and sometimes college. Sometimes they are dual sport athletes. Running hurdles in competition makes it look easy hurdling defenders on the field.
Daz West Virginia’s first game this year is at Penn State. It’s an old rivalry with a bunch of prior meetings, this year is the first meeting in over 30 years. It’s a night game and it’s not a full whiteout but it will be close, should be a hell of a scene.
Convertin Soph in to an American Football fan, way to go Daz! Its always fun to see people find the NFL for the first time and they find enjoyment in the sport. If ya like speed it might be the year to be a Miami Dolphins fan, Hill, Waddle, Mostert, and now Achane are all some of the fastest players in the NFL all on one team.
I’m sorry guys but Sophie is so sweet and so upbeat I have to know…how is she related to the family? I must have missed that episode and it’s been driving me crazy! I really enjoy watching all your reactions…y’all do a great job!!
Sophie, you can absolutely check out a game! The NFL comes to London each year and sometimes college football comes to Ireland. Good excuse to take the ferry! Would love to see a video of you / family enjoying a game!!
The first AF game was played in 1869 between two college teams, Rutgers and Princeton, using rules based on the rules of soccer at the time. The NFL, which came into being officially in 1920, only has 32 teams with some states having 2 or more teams verses nearly 900+ colleges spread throughout 49 states. College is were the rituals, traditions and pageantry began like tailgating, cheerleaders, halftime shows, music, etc. . Less than 1% of college players get drafted into the NFL and if drafted, you still have to fight to be a starter at your position.
College football is the original "American football". History, traditions and loyalties were well established amongst the colleges by the time the NFL came along.
I enjoy your reactions across all of your platforms - and it's fun watching a British family & friends enjoy American sports. Something i would point out about college football players - as talented as they are - almost every single player you just watched wasn't good enough to have a career in the NFL. That's how difficult it is to play professional football. It's always fun to me to watch college players - there's something pure - even innocent about young men playing a sport for the love of the game itself - sure each player dreams of a professional career - but they're not ignorant - they know the odds are against them - most know their level of talent (some overrate themselves and are delusional) but they still play - for the love of the game. Almost every athlete you watched - that was their pinnacle - and the end - of their playing days. What became of them? I hope something good. We will never know. But it's fun to watch. Thanks for your reaction and thanks for posting this one.
And I would like to add to Sophie.. If you're watching American football on television the announcers tell you everything that's going on... and they have replays. they are very good about explaining everything.
College football is wildly popular. Games are parties hours before the game start time. Even small colleges can draw 10,000 people. High school games routinely have 1,000 people. A lot of of schools are making a great deal of money off of football games. It’s a big business. Remember, no player is paid anything at all to to play. The National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA) works real hard at making sure of this. Players also have to maintain a minimum Grade Point Average in school. Players are college students FIRST and athletes second.
The majority of the fans in college football are graduates and students. They have a lifelong passion for their university because they were students there. That's why the crowds are so loud and passionate in the stadiums. ...Sofie is correct. The football players all go through serious weightlifting (upper-body and lower-body) and nutrition programs before and during the season.
There are no NFL teams at all in some states, like Alabama for example. Almost the entire state can support one college team. In Alabama they have two main programs, University of Alabama and Auburn.
Loyalty also plays a factor I think - something that is often lost in professional US sports that international soccer seems to maintain. Often in the NFL, NBA, or MLB, players sign with the highest bidder every few years. Not many demonstrate devotion to an organization. It means more when you know the players are fighting for the team.
I’m so happy to hear you’re a mountaineer, especially since I watch your channel! I am born and raised in West Virginia and most of us from here are West Virginia fans even if we graduated from another college in or out the state (unless you went to Marshall).
7:06 what happened there? Daz, There’s a technique in football where one person stands up the ball carrier and all the others swarmed to try and strip the ball out but sometimes they focus on that and the dude ends up getting away because they’re not tackling😂
When you guys were talking about speed. The faster guys in the league are just barely below the level of Olympic sprinters while weighing upwards of 220 lbs
The fastest 40 time for a running back is Bo Jackson at 4.13 which is insane, that's faster than Deion Sanders and Randy Moss. In recent memory I think it's Chris Johnson when he ran a 4.24 which is still Olympic level sprinting running into collisions with 300 pound lineman who can bench press double their weight, over and over again.
It sucks when that happens to you.... Not only in front of 50 or 100,000 people..... half of the country, and all the friends and family watching at home.. Not the mention ESPN sportscenter, They will show it about 100 times a day on the highlights.
Our pro teams move around a lot, changed names, etc bc the beginning of the leagues weren’t successful. Imagine Liverpool or Chelsea moving from one end of the country to another. That’s why college sports are bigger here, they represent us more
I was gonna tell you that Notre Dame is playing Navy in Dublin on August 26th but the tickets start at $700. You'd be better off flying to the US and going to a college game here.
College/University level sports is the Goldilocks area for sports. Everyone has a high school with some amount of high school sports team and those are found in every neighborhood. Only major cities tend to have major league sports teams. College athletics are spread out enough where every state has at least 1 representing university or college, there's usually rivalries between both in-state schools and other "notorious" long lived "feuds", and generally speaking the players are a bit better. They aren't paid for their performance on the field, which is something being considered, but they go full bore every game regardless. There are a bunch of NFL teams that honestly half-a*s it until they get to play that one team they really hate or they are trying way too hard. But they end up getting paid because they're on contract and have little to really lose in the end besides "pocket change" in the form of sponsorships. College athletes are looking for sponsorships and to be scouted by "the best" professional teams out there, so they're trying to strut their stuff every game. It makes for a better experience overall when you know that losing is something truly undesired for the players. If you doubt me then just look at the Detroit Lions. NFL team, never been to the Super Bowl, still is around and their players are still being paid regardless of how their season's going. Meanwhile nearby, Notre Dame's Fighting Irish in Indiana busts their a*ses to be a prominent name in college football. None of the players are being paid aside from their own sponsorship deals, but they've really been one of the "who's who" of college football for a good few decades. You NEED to show Sophie one of the "Big Man"/Fridge play videos. Just to show what happens when a less nimble player gets a hold of the ball.
college sports in America are a lot like your clubs in the Premier league well all the leagues. A big school like Alabama or Michigan or USC (Southern California) annually graduates 10 to 20 thousand. Those are always supporters of that school.
Bad enough when these kids get embarrassed in the game, but then they have to watch it again on video with the whole team when the coaches critique the game.
I'm sure it's been mentioned below here somewhere, but one of the main reasons college football is bigger than the NFL is because it's much older than the NFL. Generations grew up with only a college team to root for before an NFL team arrived near them. The roots of the loyalty to the universities are often far deeper in families than their love of an NFL team.
“Tyreek Hill” (The Cheetah) …No One is Faster. I bet they’d find College Crowd Traditions a fun watch. BTW Saw Oasis Perform Live after the Manchester Match…..Leon Didn’t come on stage
Daz, you should watch some Tavon Austin West Virginia highlights. The team was fun to watch from the QB play to the defense, but Austin was the Rolls Royce of the program.
Please watch DeAnthony Thomas at Oregon., CJ Spiller at Clemson or Jahvid Best at Cal Berkley. Some of the greatest runningbacks/wideouts in CFB History.
6:03 I believe after Troy Polamalu got tackled by the hair on an interception they looked to change the rule about tackling by the hair In NFL, Im not sure about college😂 Larry Johnson of the Chiefs, running back tackled him by the hair ru-vid.comYwvH70eBnx4?feature=share
There have been a few Olympic track & field stars in the NFL: Bullet Bob Hayes and Marquise Goodwin come to mind right away. Tons of NFL players were high level HS track stars and many run in college too.
2:50 Going off from what Daz said: there is WAY more passion and pride within the communities. Alumni, college students, kids who are in high school looking at colleges to go to. And also, the tradition stays the same more than the NFL. Mainly because the schools are a lot older, as well as, it's more of a family event with tailgating; compared to the NFL. The NFL rigs a lot of games anyway, so more people are turning off NFL games.
American college football has been around since 1869. Professional American football (NFL) didn't start until 1920. College football is more popular because it's been passed down from generation to generation for a longer period of time, allowing history, rivalry, and grudges to develop more intensely. The NFL started later and didn't take off in popularity until games were televised in the 1950's. Ask any NFL player where their passion and loyalty is and they'll tell you the name of the college they played for before turning pro. If you think about, there are WAY MORE ex-college football players in the population than there are ex-NFL players. At any one time, just over 16,000 players are draft-eligible, which is only 1.6% of that college player pool. And then only 259 players will be drafted. That is a minuscule 0.016% of the draft-eligible NCAA pool. It is awe-inspiring when you think about it.
Naji Harris is going into his second year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They expect big things out of him this year. The NFL plans on expanding into Europe one day, I believe they want 4 teams there. They haven't mentioned what cities, but I can't fathom London wouldn't be one.
One of the main reasons why I love college football over NFL is because players are playing for pride and tradition, and the fans support for pride and tradition. Meanwhile, NFL players are just playing to get paid, and don't really care about the organization's tradition or pride.. That's what made college football magical and superior to the NFL. But I think that's changing now, since they're allowing NIL.. Now players are going to be playing for money, instead of pride and tradition.. So the player and fan relationship will turn into being a transactional relationship, rather than a compassionate relationship.. Thus the relationship and pride in the program is going to deteriorate, and we'll soon be talking like old men reminiscing about "how great college football was in our day." And younger people who didn't experience it will blow off our critiques and blame it on us just being old.
Bo Jackson ran a 4.13 40yrd dash but it wasn't recorded at the combine. John Ross recorded the fastest 40 time at the combine at 4.22. He was a wide receiver out of Washington State. College programs are huge locally. NFL teams like the Steelers, Bears and Raiders have fans all over the country. It's just a more refined game and better skill all around in the NFL. Check out the local Raiders Pub in your area, Daz. I bet there's one.
I think Bo Jackson is the greatest RB and overall athlete of all time. Not only was he fast, he was incredibly strong and had excellent hand-eye coordination.
Come watch the Georgia Bulldawgs! We are the back to back National Champions! Why go to bamaa or Michigan we beat bama and Michigan twice. GO Dawgs! 8:19
Edwards-Hellaire played in ten games for the Chiefs last year, started six of them. "On November 23, 2022, Edwards-Helaire was placed on injured reserve. He was activated from injured reserve on February 6, 2023, but was inactive for Super Bowl LVII...The Chiefs declined their 2024 fifth-year option for Edwards-Helaire on May 2, 2023."
NFL is typically pretty boring compared to college football. They usually play a game or two of NFL and of college over there in the UK, but honestly it's not going to compare to going to a game here, on a college campus. And I'm not talking about Rutgers, but somewhere with passionate fans. Most SEC programs will have decent to elite tailgating (outside of Kentucky, Missouri, and Vanderbilt) and a fun game atmosphere. Best atmospheres will depend on current record, opponent, and gametime (morning is the worst, then afternoon, with night games being the best), but typically you can't go wrong with (alphabetical order) Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M.
