Context is so important in South Park, these SP compilations are really meant for people who have already seen the show and can fill in the blanks For example, in that Garbage dump bit, Cartman had convinced Butters that the world was ending and he was the only human left alive... just to steal his place on a trip 😂
I don't mind reactors watching clips without context as long as they don't act all weird for the cameras if something they're reacting to is slightly odd. SP has loads of odd things that look like they're odd but every use of them is on the money good writing, trey and Matt are among the best writers ever.
Yeh they always say its so random but if u had the episode or context its quite well done and smart which I think its hard to appreciate without the context and fast clips
@@chrisbryz1652 Right, it's these compilations that are very random, not the actual show. This show when seen in context is actually super deliberate, which is the opposite of random.
Compilations are fun when you have already seen the episodes, kind of like a fun refresher. Unfortunately, most of the compilations don't really provide any context and therefore it may feel like you're getting the punch line without the setup. Great reaction !❤tops!
These southparks are the best . When you get to character best moments just make sure u dont get the super fast clips without some context those arent as good for reactions
I think you would really enjoy the comedy skit by Tim Conway and Harvey Korman called The Dentist. Harvey Korman ( the patient ) said in an interview that Tim Comway made him laugh so hard during the skit that he wet his pants a little.
5:44 How they get away with any of it is an excellent question. I think the answer is that they got into it gradually. When you look at the first few seasons of South Park, it looks relatively tame. But they kept pushing and pushing the boundaries, while battling standards and practices every step of the way. I guess the show got so popular that they essentially had no choice but to give them a lot of leeway. It also helps quite a bit that they are on Comedy Central, as opposed to Fox which Family Guy is on, for example.
RU-vid is deleting my comments very aggressively for some reason these days. I was trying to recommend that you watch a documentary about making this show, but looks like I can't even mention it without my comment being instantly removed. I do not understand what RU-vid is doing these days, honestly.
South Park is on cable. There are no restrictions on cable--only on broadcast TV because the legal basis for restricting content has to do with the notion that government "owns" the broadcast spectrum.
Context for the last one: Japanese girls at school started drawing yaoi of Tweak and Craig in a relationship with each other, even though both are straight.. The whole town, including Tweak and Craig, decided that the Japanese get to pick and the 2 boys are still in a relationship many seasons later.
I haven’t watched the Simpsons in a while and neither have I watched South Park in a while. But the way I explain it to people who have never seen it before, is that The Simpsons is PG, Family Guy is PG-13 and South Park is rated R.
It would be cool to see you guys react to full episodes, but if you do, please take this advice... If you go in order on episodes, please start at Season 5 instead of Season 1. They were late bloomers, so the first four seasons suck in comparison to 5 and beyond. Even the creators realize and quote that 5's way better than the previous seasons.
It was the 90's and my brother had a friend my Dad would affectionately call "Cartman" because he was spoiled and overweight and a complete spoiled little turd.😂😂
The clips are pretty good, but without context a lot of the comedy is lost. If you can manage it, I’d like if you would watch episodes or just longer clips. Anyways I enjoy your channel
It's those compilations that make it look random. They really do no justice to the great writing behind this show. But it is a way to introduce people to the outrageousness that is South Park I suppose.
You asked the question how does South Park get away with being so brutal, easy....it's South Park. If Beavis and Butthead and The Simpsons are the parents of shock humour adult cartoons, then SP is the bastard son. Matt and Trey have been pushing the envelope for what is and is not acceptable in adult cartoons for 26 seasons. And it's been completely uninterrupted much like The Simpsons in terms of how long they've been Broadcasting. So it stands to reason seth is a pale imitator of Matt and Trey. Many of those who are strictly South Park fans and not also family guy fans firmly contend that seth only uses shock humour in order to get a reaction whereas Matt and Trey do it to push the envelope on what is and is not acceptable. On top of this Matt and Trey don't pick sides. Conservative, atheist, liberal, religious fanatics, people with children, single people, trans, cis, white, colored rich, poor, celebrity or not, it doesn't matter. If you exist South Park will Lampoon you. They are social satire of the highest order
They are on different channels and have different ratings Southpark is on all day sometimes. South park is rated MA family guy is rated TV 14. South park can do more because of it
South Park "gets away with more" because it chooses to. The only restriction on cable TV and other paid services is the law against obscenity and pornography which the courts have ruled is not protected by the 1st Amendment. Broadcast TV is subject to tighter restrictions because broadcasters operate under license from the federal government based on the notion that the government "owns" the broadcast spectrum.
South Park is very story driven. In shows like "Family guy", every joke is independent from each other, and they are just mashed together. But South Park episodes are linear and seeing the "best moment" without the buildup just isn't as funny. If I'd just watch these "best moments", my conclusion would be that South Park is dumb, shocking and not that funny. But it's actually a very clever show and predicted things years in advance. When they introduced "PC Principal", I thought I got it, but it was just annoying and please move on, but it just became absolute reality. PC principal's wife does athletic competitions against a "transitioning" man, low and behold, a few years later it became completely true. They are very prophetic when it comes to predictions of mainstream social changes. I know it's harder editing reactions of shows ("best moments" are already fair use), but it's worth it.
