So in terms of hits there are a few important rules, because you asked. 1. Boarding, if you hit/trip a defensless player (player doesnt know the hit is coming, hasnt played the puck or similar) and he flies dangerously into the side/endboards, it can be punished. 2. Charging, if the player who goes for the hit, jumps/charges off the ice before contact to be higher up during the hit or get more force behind the hit, it can be penalized. 3. Hitting from behind. Depends a bit on the play, goes back to the defensless/unsuspecting player. 4. Hits to the knee or clipping is illegal as well. Those are probably the most important rules in terms of checking. everything more would turn out to be an essay :D
I would agree that the type of hits, but it is not the same. The mere difference in momentum. The fastest AFL clocks in at 37.4km/h and the average hockey player is skating at between 30km/h and 40 km/h. Additionally, the padding worn by the players, only increases the mass of the players, this is going to increase the force exerted by the player, when they hit someone or something. I'm not sure on the force exerted by the sidewall onto players, but I would guess it is high.
You do realize this is why no one likes us AFL or Rugby fans, is because of people like you. I've played Ice Hockey and Rugby, trust me Rugby isn't even in the same league of roughness.
@@rummhamproductions8208 @Ryan Hill What is your problem? I never say that AFL in the same league or anything to do with other sports all i said was it has this type of hit's without padding.
@@boomeraus0073 Because that's false. Rugby has hard hits, but not hits that contain this type of force. These guys are SKATING into eachother full speed at 20+MPH, and landing on hard surfaces. The padding is only there so they don't DIE.
