So I went back to India after 10 years. Didnt spend a day cooking for 3 months. Ate the craziest dishes from all over and spent way less than I do back here on groceries for the month. Thats how amazing eating in India can be.

15 rupees is normally cheap for most of the commoners (anything near 80-100 rupees would be in the pricey category), but there are also different section of people who live on the streets and 15 rupees may not be cheap for them.

Mostly monthly income of freshly graduate student is 15K rs = 200$. Now you decide what is expensive or not. I think that's why Indian go to western country and send money because it is very good amount in rupees although they get underpaid there based on their skills. In earlier time they used to go to middle eastern countries away from their wife and children and return after 5-10years with their high saving. Nowdays, most Indian don't want to go foreign country because opportunity reduced very much.

Britishes fell in love with India, its food and its lifestyles centuries ago and that's why they invaded India and were not willing to leave.

I grew up in Mumbai. A suburb called Borivali has some really awesome street food to offer. If you are interested in visiting Mumbai I'd recommend staying at ESKAY resort in Borivali. The concierge will certainly help organise a tour of the city.

First thing is, the same City have the India's richest person living as well as the poorest.. so you may spend £2000/day on food or may be less than £1/day for food. Depends on you what you want.. So we get lots of options for sure 😃

In india with $100, you and your 15 friends can have 1 beer bottle each and after drinking beer you'll go for a dinner in a restaurant and still you'll have few bucks left. But that's not same every time, it depends on what you are ordering (although most of the menu items will come in this price). the varieties in food are endless in India. Some menu items in restaurants are way more expensive.
