Same as in basketball. I've notived Luka not really ever say "ankles broken" when watching ankle break clips! He should react to videos about the LINGO of some of these sports to help him learn all the terminologies! Love the vids
You get the defender leaning on the wrong foot. By the time he sets his weight it’s too late. Tennis players are good at doing it to their opponents as well.
You are really smart and pick up on the terminology real quick but there is alot so I'd like to take a minute and teach you a couple Important Key terms you should know. There is a difference between Blocking (offense) and Tackling (defense). In American Football the Defensive team Tackles and the Offensive Team "Blocks". So when you watch a guy running with the ball and his teammates are helping to free up space for him they are "blocking for him" not tackling. The reason for this is the techniques are very different as a the goal of a tackle is to bring the opposing player to the ground and end the play while the goal of a block is to move the other player out of the way. Sometimes guys who get blocked go to the ground but not on most blocks. Also the legality of techniques for tackling and blocking are very different. The rest of the terminology differences I'll mention are things to learn but really just examples for the difference between Tackling and Blocking which is the main take away I hope you have from my comment. A couple quick examples off the top of my head. "Wrapping Up" (or "Arm Tackling") an opponent is fine for a defensive player to do but it would be considered a "Holding Penalty" if an offensive player did that. Another example is Going Low / below the knees. Going low is perfectly legal for a defender (and often encouraged if you are tackling a player with alot more strength than you) while the rules for Going low as a blocker are much more detailed. On offense you can go low and "cut block" a player but basically only if they are standing up and running at you. It is illegal to do this from the back ("Illegal Cut Block Penalty"). While on defense it is good to get more than on player on the tackle. This is called "Gang Tackling". For the offense Double team Blocks are widely used and common but it's not as cut and dry as Defense. It is illegal to "cut block" or go low on a double teamed opponent ("Illegal Cut Block To An Engaged Player Penalty"). The last common difference that comes to mind between blocking and tackling is the rules for contact from behind an opponent. For the defense this is once again completely fine. However for the offense this is completely illegal. Blocking a Player from behind would be a "Illegal Block In the Back Penalty". Block In The Back Penalty is a notorious one for Football Fans because it often occurs on big plays. Meaning maybe your team has a guy that juked his way to a 50 yard Touchdown and because of a "block in the back" it doesn't count. Sometimes this can be by someone on the opposite side of the field not even involved in the play in which case the fans of that team get very upset at either a "questionable call" by the refs or if the block in the back was blatant obvious then they get mad at the "idiot player" who wasn't even involved in the main part of the play but cost the team a Touchdown.
Good info, but no way is this guy going to absorb all of it. The only way to get that good of a grasp over the sports terminology and concepts is to watch games.
@@cannedyams9977 hes just not gonna waste his time because the sport isn't that interesting. I'm an American and don't care for this sport. It's a coaches game with the occasional individual talent on display. Usually (not all the time) that individual talent is allowed to shine because of a good play call by the coach
Sean Stoica ok. If you’re not a fan, why are you watching these extremely specific videos? Like, the only way this should be able to get recommended to people is if theyre into both foreign reacting videos, and football, which I am and I why I watch this guy. Secondly, yes if a team has a trash coaching staff and ownership (like the browns, jets, dolphins, etc.) they likely aren’t going to be good, even with decent talent. However individual players shine all the time, and if a good coaching staff has bad players, they can’t succeed. A great example of this is the chiefs a few years ago. Any Reid is one of the best coaches in the game, but couldn’t do anything with a mediocre roster. Now he has Pat Mahomes, who is a generational talent, and the Chiefs are a powerhouse. Same thing goes with the Ravens and getting both Lamar Jackson and Ingram. And I’m pretty sure this goes for all sports. For all I know, only in the NBA do players have more power over a teams front office when it comes to success .If I may ask, are you a former fan, and have lost interest? I don’t know why else you’d be here.
@@cannedyams9977 was a more hardcore fan in my younger years and have lost interest as my life goes on. I just enjoy seeing Europeans taking interest in something besides soccer. I'm a die hard hockey fan. It's a better sport. More unpredictable, more passionate, and much more dangerous. I still pay attention to football but there's really no point in watching a game. The NFL has developed to many rules. It's gotten boring. And everything you said about coaching is wrong. Tom Brady isn't a generational talent. He met the right coach and the right system. Throw him in anywhere else in the league and he's nothing The most exciting games are when the coaches calls lose. That's why the Patriots don't have more rings. Individual talent and luck won. Nobody cares about the teams you mentioned. They're not even favorites because the 49ers, saints (Drew Brees) and the Patriots exist. The sports become as unbearable and boring as the nba
Quarterbacks will slide to ‘give themselves up’ , meaning no one can tackle them since they’ve already put themselves down. The opposition will get foul if the hit a player giving themselves up ( in most cases a QB)
dude, I love listening to you. I like hearing your British words and phrases like"pitch" and "fair play" and "oh my days" just to mention a few. So interesting.
You sound like a commutator describing Barry Sanders, unfortunately this kid refuses to watch a Barry video but watches nfl’s dirtiest player vids?!? Yeah he’s full of shit, he’s no fan of football he’s just bs’ing to get views smh this kids a tool
At 13:50 this is different depending on the level of play. At most lower levels of play such as High School or College if a player with the ball goes down you can not play on. The play is over right there no matter how he went down. In NFL though being the highest level of competition the rules are slightly different. In the NFL a player with the ball has to be "touched down" by an opposing player for the play to stop. This means if a player with the ball falls to the ground but a defensive player never touched them they can get up and they can play on. This is a NFL game that's why they were allowed to play on there.
If you can mix-up your reaction commentary these videos would have double or triple the quality they have currently. Love the vids, but hearing 'that's crazy' 'that's mental' or 'that's nuts' gets a little exhausting.
My favorite American Football term is called a "pancake." It's when someone is blocking somebody else, and they knock them over on their back, kind of like flipping a pancake.
bill watson literally 100 plus people having mentioned Barry to this guy, for some reason he ignores anyone and everyone that suggests Barry, the kid literally has watched every film of the nfl except for the GOAT Barry Sanders smh I unsubscribed to this guy because he was blatantly ignoring Barry, lol would have loved to see his reaction to Barry but he would rather watch dumb shit like nfl’s ugliest players, and nfl dirtiest player.... but not Barry?!? Yeah phuhq this clown
You got it right about it being called a "spin move". And yes that was Barkley in one of those clips. I really how much you appreciate american football and see the art that is created all over the field. And because of that reason I think you should react to Le'veon Bell highlights I think you would really appreciate of his patience, juke, and spin moves. He is an artist
Glad you're enjoying these as much as I am! Could you check out buzzer beaters or ankle breakers in basketball? Those are some of the most incredible moments in that sport
In football you must be touched by a defensive player while down to end the play, if not touched offensive player can get up and run. The slide was put in to protect quarterbacks though other players with the ball can do it. Sliding feet first immediately ends that play, no defensive touch needed. Also defense cannot hit a player that slides or they receive an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of 15 yards
10:35 - "This guy is rapid!" That's Adrian Peterson, best running back in the history of the Minnesota Vikings, and one of the top 5 running backs in the history of American Football. I strongly recommend watching his highlights , he would literally run straight through defenders like a freight train.
Leshawn McCoy playing in the snow was the most dominant snow game performance I've ever seen. They could do nothing to stop him. Also, Dante Hall's nickname was "The Human Joystick". He was the best punt and kick returner until Devin Hester came along.
Great reaction vid, and your appreciation for the athletes that play in the NFL is right on the money. They are huge, strong, and have incredible speed. The average size of an NFL player is 6'2" and 246 pounds, and running backs average 6' and 215 pounds. The average 40yd times for running backs and receivers is 4.45 seconds. These guys are world class, and I appreciate your recognizing that! Of course, it goes without saying that soccer players are elite athletes, just with different skillsets. They don't practice these kinds of moves because soccer doesn't really require them to. Messi, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Maradona (RIP), Cruyff, Pele, and hundreds of others are just as spectacular - beating defenders with great footwork, speed, quickness, endurance, incredible coordination, etc. Most soccer players are equal to NFL players in speed and quickness. Both sports are hyper-competitive and entertaining, and I'm glad you appreciate that. Just subscribed. Cheers.
If you react to some ESPN analysis/highlights they throw in a TON of slang/terminology. And it’s all in the context of the highlight, so you can usually figure out what they’re talking about.
As an old school cat, I will answer this correctly. It is known as "Juking" or to "Juke" a player. We also used to say "Got put on roller skates" when they would fall. In basketball, it used to be called getting "shook". Now they call it "Breaking ankles" or getting "Crossed up", because of the crossover dribble.
I've notived Luka not really ever say "ankles broken" when watching ankle break clips! He should react to videos about the LINGO of some of these sports to help him learn all the terminologies! Love the vids
And the first one right away puts to bed the notion that Kaepernick is not getting signed up by football teams because he doesn't play well. That spin was sick!
I keep hearing Europeans comparing Mesi to NFL runners, but, remember, Mesi is NOT BEING TACKLED, or HIT!!! All that shit he does would never work IF he had opponents TACKLING and hitting him.
He keeps comparing this to soccer. “You don’t even see this kind of stuff in football (soccer).” That’s cuz the best athletes in the world are playing American football, buddy.
Do "Barry Sanders 50 most ridiculous runs". He was the best running back of all time. He was only actually 5'6" but his legs were like tree trunks. His acceleration was just not humanly possible. You're welcome!
10:29 I'm pretty sure you were talking about "Psyching somebody out". That could apply to 99% of this video or just hanging out with friends and tricking them.
Yo! Glad I stumbled upon your channel! One of the most underrated position in football is the full back. Look up mike Alstott’s highlights (the A-train). Was phenomenal at blocking and might as well been a full blown running back. The epitome of in the trenches, down and dirty
You want to watch Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders, and Tony Dorsett . These guys are amazing. Emmit Smith once played 3 quarters of football with a separated shoulder and a bruised sternum and ran for over 200 yards despite those injuries. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OVZoJWXA8OE.html
We have no fancy move names. Spin is a spin.. dbl spin maybe lol.. any quick move is a juke.. hurdle is..well a hurdle.. shook valor shake is also same as juke. Broken ankles or ankle breaker. You should watch an entire pro game. You'll get it pretty quick. 11 offense 11 defense 11 special teams (kicking team & kick return/defense) it's actually easy to learn. Touchdown is 6 pts and has to be physically taken into the endzone. After a touchdown you can kick it for and extra point or run another play for 2 pts. A field goal is 3 pts and kicked on 4th down if you are too far away to score a pass or run. 4 downs/tries to get 10 yards. If you do not get the 10 yards then you are now on defense and the other team takes over the ball. 1st and 10. Is the 1st try, 10 yards to go. 2nd down and 7..(you need 3 yards to get to 10 and start the downs over and you have 2 more tries)
they are fast... a lot of the "skill players" (wide receivers, running backs and defensive backs) ran track in college... a few were Olympic sprinters... There have been a fair amount of players who have run under 10 seconds for the 100 meter dash...
Im gonna have to refrain from hitting the Like button, due to the fact that you can't have a "Nastiest Football Jukes of All Time", and then proceed to not having one single clip of the greatest juke artists in American football ever, Barry Sanders. Now I realize this is not the fault of this guy doing the reaction video, which is why Im not hitting the Dislike button. But I just can't bring myself to hitting the Like button though.
You need to see footage of Walter Payton. Players were a bit rougher back in the 70s and 80s (and earlier) because there weren't as many rules or fines about how you could tackle someone like there are now. You don't see all the grabbing, shoving and tripping anymore that used to go unpenalized. I'm glad they've made changes to decrease the number of career-ending injuries, but to see him escape time and time again was just unbelievable. Anyone who stopped him really, really worked for it.
Frequently, a "juke" (or "dummy" as I've heard it called in rugby) is made possible by a lack of discipline on the part of the defender. Of course, sometimes it is not as much a lack of discipline as it is a matter of a defender being forced to guess a runner's next move due to the runner's speed and/or power.
if you want to see some of the best jukes in the NFL then watch my man Barry Sanders and if you want to see one of the greatest running backs of all time then check out Walter Payton from the 1970's -1980's Bears (this man rushed for 275 yards in a single game, this was later broken by Adrian Peterson but the game has changed drastically since he had set some of his records)
The slide @12:38 is because the QB typically doesn't run into be tackled. They avoid being tackled so they don't injure themselves. They are a key part of the team so if your QB is out it can really hurt the season. Unlike Baseball where different pitchers play different parts or whole games. The same QB plays the entirety of every game, unless they are bad or get injured. This is also true with many other positions but not to the same degree. And getting a shoulder injury or even a hand injury as a QB put you out for a while, where linemen just walk it off. The player that fell @13:10 is likely due to a pulled muscle. You think American Football would get better attention if it had good marketing over in Europe? It sees like a lot of people who react are impressed by it, but also surprised. Perhaps people don't give it a shot because they don't understand it. Honestly, they should just change the name over there. That would help.
If you want a cool unique tradition, in college sports, look up Taylor Univeristy’s “Silent Night”. They have it once a year. They just had this year’s game last night. That’s all I’m gonna say as to not spoil it.
For anyone who doesn't know - The spin move is just that a spin move. A juke is when they side step to make the guy miss. And when you see quarterbacks do it, it's even more special because their job is to lead the offense and throw the ball. A QB who can also run is a bonus and a deadly one. And when they successfully make the guy fall we say all sorts of stuff. That they broke their ankles, broke their leg, snatched their soul. At that point you just have fun with it and celebrate it. A couple more: When they put their arm out to shove the guy trying to tackle them is called a stiff arm and when they just try to run the guy over it's called trucking. So if someone says he trucked the f outta him, you know he ran him the f over
Just be warned. I had a good friend from overseas. He loved cricket, soccer, and rugby. Once he moved here to the U.S. he began watching American football. Once he was acquainted with all the terms and rules and understood what was going on in the game he became a huge fan. Whenever he'd go back to Europe his brothers would invite him to watch cricket, rugby , or soccer with them. He said he quickly realized that he no longer enjoyed watching those. He said that the excitement of American football was so off the charts that it made his other favorite sports seem tame and boring. Don't know if that's a universal reaction but I thought you might want to be aware.
You should react to DeAndre Hopkins top 10 catches! Odell Beckham gets a lot of international attention, but DeAndre is the best in the league! He's gone a whole season without ever dropping a ball and some of them are just insane! And he really does break ankles lol (should have known better Hall!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hVrIwCQk2GA.html
we call it getting; juked, whacked, ankles broken, jugged, shook, etc. the spin is just called a spin, and if you get ran over it’s called getting trucked.
Spin = Spin Move; Juke that trips someone is called breaking their ankles; when your teammates flatten someone on the ground and are laying on them, that's call pancaking so they can't get up and try tackling your dude, which is a type of block not tackle. The only people tackling are the people trying to stop the ball carrier. And if nobody touches you when you're on the ground the play is still live as long as you don't "give yourself up" and try to continue the play.
American football isn't new to the Brits any more. The Brits host an NFL game several times a year now so British people no longer have to go to RU-vid and act shocked by reacting to American football games. I even heard talk that the NFL might be trying to get a British team.
I have to add to the people saying you've gotta watch Barry Sanders. Arguably the greatest pure runner of all time and inarguably the shiftiest back to ever play.
Another you seem to have trouble with is the Spike play. An incomplete pass always stops the clock so with time ticking away and no time outs or saving time outs the offense can come to the line with clock running and, as long as it's not 4th down, and the quarter back can throw the ball at his feet immediately after the snap to stop the clock at the cost of a down. The defense realizing what's happening oftentimes let's up and that's where the trick play " fake Spike" comes into play. Love your stuff. Hope this helps
My nephew didn't bother with that in high school one time. He just plowed on dragging half the other team with him because he wouldn't go down...lol. No one expected someone as short as him to be that strong. The whole crowd on both sides went nuts. He's in his 30's now and is still only about 5'5" to give you an idea of his size.
If u like this u should watch one on Barry Sanders. He was a running back that did this kind of stuff every game he played at RB. He made guys look like fools.
5:16 - 5:27 don't really blame you for that. It's a common myth amongst soccer fans that American football requires no skill, or that it's just a bunch of fat guys running around.
Hey Lavish love ur vids! In the NFL, if the ball carrier is downed on the ground but is not touched by an enemy player while he is on the ground, he is technically still up and is not downed yet.
Man, it’s called “doing absolutely anything not to get tackled.” Them boys on defense can really hit so, just stay standing & run towards end zone before those defense demons kill you.
12:46 the QB slid because he is physically not that capable as other players on the offense to take a hit from the defense. In other words, he would get seriously wrecked and you don't want to injury your QB because that is the most important position. Some QB's prefer to take the risk but most don't.
12:41 - The reason he slid was because a Quarterback(especially good ones) is the most important player on the team, and unlike other positions the coaches don't want the QB getting hit. On this play they were just trying to get the first down(the yellow line on the screen)
