As an American, I can attest that we've never heard of brussel sprout sliders much less have eaten one. And we would NEVER ruin a hotdog by infusing it with pizza!
Americans need to give this shit thumbs down. Has to be english people with thumbs up on this crap. Adding: they have no flavor over there. Many, many, many, have told me so that have fled to our lands. Good God
Exactly! What is this food?- I've NEVER seen any of these at tailgates!! "California Wings"??? No, that's where I'm from and have tailgated many, many times. No clue what that is. Couldn't a simply Google search have helped?
I can confidently say that out of my 20+ years as a midwestern tailgater, I have _never_ had Brussels sprout sliders, pizza muffins, or pizza hotdogs. Typically we have buffalo wings, ribs, chili with Frito’s to scoop it with, finger foods (like mozzarella sticks), nachos, and lots of chips and dip. Plus soda like Mt. Dew and Coca-Cola, or beer like Budweiser.
Boys, Boys, Boys a "tail gate" is the back fold down part on a pickup truck. It acts a table to set your grill on, eat on or set up as a food buffet. It is not the "boot" of a car.
Whoever told them that Brussels Sprouts have any place in tailgating completely OWNED them. Oh yeah, Brussels sprouts, that's totally not one of the most commonly despised vegetables in America.
I've been tailgating all over since I was a baby. I don't know who lied to you all about what tailgate food is but no real tailgater is eating Brussel sprout sliders, pizza muffins, or pizza hot dogs.
@@lisanation2203 Burgers, ribs, steak, brisket, wings, sausage, nachos, chili, chili dogs, sloppy joes, etc. There's a large variety but almost all fits a theme.
I could see the pizza muffins at an inside Superbowl party maybe, but not at a tailgate. And no one has ever had brussels sprouts at any kind of sports party in the US.
You guys need to update this one by attending a tailgate for LSU this fall of 2024! Louisiana is known for its unique foods (jambalaya, gumbo, boudin balls!). Y'all check it out!
I love brussel sprouts but I doubt one has ever been seen at a tailgate or super bowl party lol. Edit: Actually, I've never seen any of that at any super bowl party I've attended 😅. Typical favorites are hamburgers, hot dogs (but not pizza dogs), regular ole chili with ground beef or steak (what my husband will be making this year), nachos are a big favorite, buffalo wings (there are a multitude of ways to make these across the country), and melted Velveta cheese with sausage (usually American breakfast sausage).
I'm from Tennessee, and I don't like American football, so I haven't ever tailgated. I was really surprised that tailgating foods were so fancy until I read the comments and realized they had completely gotten it wrong 😂. Even this non-tailgating American knew that this was weird. Hilarious!
Don't forget the brisket you turn into 5 different dishes, and hot dogs? Nah cmon don't do yourself like that, full on sausages. This is a tailgate not an 8 year olds birthday party haha, much love your way from a fellow Texan.
Yea they fucked up massively. Cincinnati Chili is a thing but extremely specific and that white mess is the opposite of Cincinnati chili in every way. The whole video is an embarrassment
Tailgatings name comes from the back of a pickup truck. You put down the tailgate of the bed of the truck and use it as a cooking/serving platform. It’s gotten way more advanced over the years. It’s an American pickup truck thing.
I have never heard of brussel sprout sliders, and I am American. Common tailgating food would be wings, burgers, hot dogs, chips & salsa, chili, bbq chicken and beer. You really should try tailgating next time you are in the U.S. because you would have a blast, especially at a college football game.
U.S. citizen here: I've attended quite a few US-style "tailgating" sessions before football games. Of the dishes presented in this video, I only recognized the chicken wings. However, your white chicken chili with cilantro and tortilla chips looks amazing. I would definitely take that to a tailgate!
Where in the world did you get these recipes?! I love brussel sprouts but I've never seen them done that. The wings looked good. Lol, I think whoever helped you guys was pulling your legs somewhat.
It's like if you asked Rachel Ray to make Superbowl food fancy for a British audience. The only things that you'd see in a tailgating party from your video, are the beers and the wings. Everything else was somebody trolling Gabie or Gabie trolling you for having to make this.
Next video. Actual tailgate food. One of you need to be grilling something as well. Preferably holding a beer. Giving the other dad life lessons, occasionally throwing a football whilst flipping a burger.
Josh and Ollie: Let's try one of the sacraments of America's most holy day. All American Jollybeans: You're doing it wrong! My contribution: Josh, that is an LA *Dodgers* hat...baseball, not football. Wrong sport doesn't count. Also, hard time saying that chili is repping Cincinnati with avocados on. California is the land of the avocado, not Ohio.
As someone from Cincinnati, that chili was way off base. Our chili is a loose sauce made with Greek spices and eaten over pasta with a mountain of cheese, or on a hot dog with a mountain of cheese. It's a completely unique style of chili that you won't find anywhere else.
Great research you hit the nail on the head with everything, all you needed was pickled coleslaw with golden raisens, vegan nachos, and lamb fritters...
Brussel sprouts should be abolished from the face of the earth or fed exclusively as punishment for heinous crimes. If deep frying can't even make it taste edible, it has to go.
No way your producers didn't troll you guys lol. I can't speak for everyone but in texas it's- - wings (smoked is a plus) - queso - smoked meats (ribs) - fried appetizers, mozzarella sticks, loaded potato skins, fried mac n cheese ect - salty snacks like chips (not fries) and dips And of you're Latino we make fajitas with a special orange colored marinade that is delicious, sliced short ribs and sausage I wish I could bring yall some 😋
I’ve seen the wings, pizza (puffs) & chili! But the main is usually hamburgers/hot dogs, sliders (pulled pork usually), wings, NACHOS (loaded), tacos, quiches, chips and dips. Pretty much stuff easy in a crockpot or grill. Serious tailgaters bring portable toilets, power sources, tvs, tents, tables and of course chairs. A lot of partying and drinking goes on. Gets very rowdy. Painted faces, you name it. It’s an experience!
My favorite recipe I ever got was from tailgating a college football game. I call it tailgating dip. 16oz sour cream, 1 ranch dip seasoning packet (1 oz), 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, 1 packet of real bacon pieces (found with salad dressing stuff, about 3oz). Goes great with everything. I typically eat it with carrots, but it's also good with chips or crackers. You'll need ruffles chips, though. Regular chips (sorry, CRISPS) will break.
Also, tailgating parties and home viewing parties get different foods. Many parties will have chili, yes. But since you have an oven at home but it will be too cold to grill in much of the country, you’ll be seeing a lot of things like the muffins that someone will constantly be pulling fresh out of the oven. And crockpots will be plugged in everywhere with all kinds of hot dips, hors d’oeuvres like tiny sausages in barbecue sauce or meatballs in sauce; hot cider or chocolate, etc. While tailgates may see a lot more grilled food. Plus with the Super Bowl, it’s ONE game with limited parking. Most people will be watching it at viewing parties at someone’s home.
Here in Texas the best time to have a tailgate is in November and December when the afternoon temperature is between 50 and 70 degrees and you actually feel like lighting up a grill to cook on. We hate tailgating for a baseball game in the summer when it is 105 degrees before you fire up the grill! Unless of course its a Super Bowl in Texas and then there is ice everywhere. 😀
Never have I ever heard of ANY American eating Brussels sprouts at a tailgating event. But that’s probably a good idea if you want extreme social distancing since they smell like the worst farts on the planet. 🤷🏻♀️
Jolly: "Let's do an episode about Super bowl snacks!" Crew: "Should we do any basic research or have even the slightest amount of knowledge about tailgate culture, the Super Bowl, or snacks?" Josh/Ollie: "Nahhhh we'll be fine." Nobody eats brussels sprout sliders. Nobody. Fight me. XD There's a world of difference between snacks, which are typically for indoor viewing at a house, and tailgating outside a stadium. Outdoor grilling, drinking, and shouting at the other team's fans are integral parts of tailgating.
Its funny ... i find myself knowing what day it is by knowing when your videos are out (KE too) ... nevr fail to brighten my day when im struggling slightly. Thankyou 💛
Should we tell them that buffalo wings are actually from the buffalo itself? 😊😊😊 Given that the Brussels sprout sliders (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) made it in, that might fly. You guys are adorable.
Is someone going to tell Ollie that a score of 1-0 isn't possible in American Football. The lowest possible non-tied score is 2-0. However, having a score of 2-0 at the end of a game is really really rare. In fact, there have only been 5 games in NFL history that ended in a score of 2-0 and none that have happened since the year 1938. However, it is technically possible to score only 1 point. But for this to happen, the other team must score at least one touchdown. A touchdown awards 6 points and the opportunity to try and score 1 or 2 extra points. Then, if there is a safety on the extra point attempt, then the team who scored the safety would be awarded 1 point. This is so unlikely that it has never happened before in the NFL (but it has happened in College football).
Those are some unusual choices for tailgating that I've never heard of haha. But white chicken chili is amazing! Also, you needed to try some Cincinnati chili. It's greek style meat sauce on pasta topped with beans, onions, and grated cheese. And it's probably hard to get, but some Hudepohl brewery Hu-Dey beer is a must because "Hu dey think gonna beat dem Bengals?!"
I know everyone is roasting jolly for the food they chose but I honestly would prefer to eat these (other than the Brussels sprouts) over normal tailgating food ‼️‼️ I’m from Ohio and tailgating food just isn’t that interesting, it’s just burgers and hot dogs 🥴
Never in my life have I heard of a brussel sprout slider lol but these all seem like things you would find if you searched for superbowl party recipes. The brussel sprout slider sounds like a healthy alternative for people who can't eat gluten or something.
I'm obsessed with this game, trying really hard to find a way to watch some of them live from my country, I'm going to have a vegan Superbowl feast when I'll find it. GO TEXAS!
Except for the pizza muffins and pizza hot dogs, which I have never seen before. I have actually seen the rest at tailgates on the west coast. No where else, though.
Idk why everyone hated on Brüssel sprouts. Yah most don’t like them, but deep fry them or fill them with meat anyone’s gonna take a bite. Tailgate food is in the order beer, burger, hotdog/chili dog, cheese dip, nachos, and some misc stuff your place does. Mine LOVES pigs in a blanket. Iv eaten probably over a hundred thousand of them.
I don't know what that concoction was but it wasn't chili - it looked more like Chicken Tortilla Soup (which is really good). Chili is based on chili peppers and tomatoes which make a red sauce and usually has a meat - generally ground beef, but I have had it with pork, chicken, lamb, and shrimp and is often topped with cheese and onions. It is usually eaten with something else like beans (chili with beans), corn chips (frito pie), macaroni (chili mac), chili spaghetti, chili dog, chili burger, or on a piece of bread (especially corn bread) like a sloppy joe.
Hot dogs, OK. There are usually food trucks that sell them, and you can order them plain with ketchup and/or mustard or toppings like relish, onions, chili, sauerkraut, etc. I’ve actually never seen pizza toppings as a possibility. Brussels sprouts sliders? Never heard of them before today. California wings? Ditto. White chicken chili? Nope. The food you really see at tailgate parties, IME, is VERY traditional. Burgers, brats, maybe a veggie tray, but don’t get carried away with the healthy stuff. Ordinary chili, more as a topping for other things than eaten alone, chips and dips. Oh, and beer. LOTS of beer. LOTS.
Where to begin, lol. Love you guys, but whoever told you about Brussels sprout slider was messing with you…not a thing. Also, while Cincinnati is known for chili, it’s not white/chicken chili. It’s proper beef and/or bean chili, sometimes with spaghetti noodles (making it a chili mac)…and Skyway Chili is king ❤. We also don’t combine pizza and hotdogs…we would never ruin a hotdog that way (not that pizza is bad, it’s just its own thing). I will say I loved watching what 2 Brit’s think tailgating is. You guys are the best!
@J.R. "Bob" Dobbs So why did they make a new video this year poking fun at the fact the snacks that they thought were real weren't actually well known?
@@jr.bobdobbs they made a newer superbowl video explaining their mistake in not knowing what they were doing in this video. you drooling bumbling walking cranial malfunction. dirty brit go to the dentist
I don’t think any red-blooded American would be caught eating a brussel sprout hors d'oeuvre while tailgating or watching at home. I think you confused it with ribs.
I don't think any of these are a thing. A pizza hot dog? We have many many hot dog styles in the US but that's not a thing. Chicago, Seattle, DC Half Smoke...Sonoran even but wtf is a pizza hot dog?! Also, California wings? If someone mentioned California wings to me I'd thing they're just vegan wings smeared with Avocado. This is a travesty.
Who did they pay to do the research? 🤣🤣🤣 This is freaking hilarious! They need to come to experience several tailgates here and in a different state for each one.
I'm guessing the south has the most cookouts and Texas is a football-loco state. I would tell them to start there and work their way along the Gulf Coast (after hurricane season... those months you could tour the Midwest). Don't go to trendy experimental fusion restaurants in big cities or you'll end up with more Brussels sprouts sliders or the like. Go to a well established popular sports bar. Go to the stadium parking lots and seek out smoking grills.
Im not surprised its a thing to be honest. Americans love taking vegetables they wouldn't eat normally and adding as much meat and cheese to it as possible. The recipes i've seen online call for cream cheese and bacon.
Yea they got trolled for sure. I don’t even know anyone who eats Brussels sprouts let alone tailgaters for football. I mean no way would they eat that. Tailgate barely has anything green in it. Lol 😂 they got trolled for sure. Thinking of it that way this video is even funnier. Lol
I have never in my whole 21 years of living in America ever heard of or seen people eat these foods at a tailgate. Honestly you guys eating the totally wrong foods makes this video even funnier.
If you bring Brussel sprouts to a tailgate party, the only thing that would save you from getting your a** kicked was the fact that the potential a** kickers would be rolling on the ground helplessly laughing their a**es off at you. And I hope you don't mind being called Sprout Boy for the next 35 years at every public gathering....Sprout Boy.
*I have never ever in all the Super Bowl-related events I've gone to seen anyone eat brussels sprouts sliders. I'm racking my brain to think if I've ever seen someone eat a vegetable not a fried potato lol*
Well, if they’d had the right foods it would have been the full experience. So they had beer and wings, at least. Wrong kind of chili and sliders. I suppose someone might eat that hot dog…
As a Texan a lot of these I’ve never heard of. But one I haven’t seen anyone mention that my family likes to do is Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped with bacon cook on a BBQ pit.
Honorable mention to maybe some green peppers/chillis if it's still cold and someone put on a massive pot of chilli... to be eaten out of a small styrophome bowl with a plastic spoon of course.
For a proper tailgate, you definitely need some barbecue, hamburgers, guacamole with chips, assorted cut vegetables with ranch dressing for dipping, and chocolate chip cookies.
BBQ, burgers, brats, hot dogs…..and the tailgating crews are no joke serious when it comes to this. They are great cooks. And the smells of delicious food…lots of beer lol. It’s a fun time actually. This was a cute episode 🥰
@@turr8894 it's his chauffeur hat from the limousine episodes. He is sitting in the trunk of the limousine and hence why he is wearing his chauffeur hat.
As an American, none of this food would be eaten at a tailgate. Some sort of a fire/charcoal grill needs to be present with hot dogs, burgers, and your standard person drinking beer while cooking all of it. The other tailgaters are eating chips with beer or soda in hand (often in solo cups). Corn hole is often set up and some drinking games are played. Honestly, tailgating can be more fun than watching the game sometimes.
@@mrjasonswilliams It’s a game where you set a “goal” which is basically a ramp with a hole inside and you try to throw small bean bags from a distance! If the bean bags don’t make it through the hole, they slide off the ramp. It’s surprisingly difficult
I think tailgating must be more fun than the game… I once went to half an Angels game and we gave up and when home when no one managed to score a single point. As for the food, the wings wouldn’t be too odd but I’d have expected standard American cookout foods, right? Big cooler of sodas, hot dogs and burgers, bags of chips and maybe salsa or potato salad, and for the fancy folks possibly steak.
I mean it’s not meant to be classy. It’s finger food. Buffalo wings, fried cheese sticks, meatballs and beer. A lot of times the grill isn’t even necessary, you just throw everything into a crockpot and drown it in sauce… but if you think bbq and grilling is unsophisticated than my friend than you are mistaken! lol
Dear Jolly, please do a follow up episode with the "It's a Southern Thing" channel. If someone told you this is tailgating, they lied, and the folks over there can set y'all straight.
This video was to introduce Ollie to the foods. It would have been hilarious, though, to see him trying to manage a BBQ grill lol And a collab with "It's a Southern Thing" would be fab
Brussels sprouts sliders!? Pizza muffins? Pizza hotdogs? White chicken chili? What!? No! Hot wings? Sure. Maybe. Someone needs to bring these guys to a real tailgate party.
All I was thinking is how absolutely inaccurate that one snack was for us lol give us some chips & dip, chicken wings, hot dogs and pizza. Lots of pop and alcohol. just 100% unhealthy.
Definitely not. But even still, if we would have brussels sprouts anywhere nearby, they'd be smothered in crispy bacon with a real nice sticky sauce-- so you'd never even taste them sprouts, am I right? 😆
I INSTANTLY knew someone was either messing with them or pulling from buzzfeed when I saw those Brussel sprouts. 😂 I feel like the It’s a Southern Thing RU-vid channel should have done a collab with them for this one. Now THAT would have been a true tailgating experience. Lol W/ love, from Southwest KY.
