A PET-CT scan could help to diagnose thousands with Conn's syndrome, a cause of high blood pressure.
Research to develop this new test was funded by the British Heart Foundation and the National Institute for Health Research at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.

Went to hospital in 2016 with breast cancer. They took my blood pressure, 240/216, and said, ' there seems to be another problem!' lol Adrenal sampling showed Conn syndrome. Got coded 4 times . Still here.Xx

A lot easier a process than i had to go through 18 years ago. It would seem that sampling blood directly from the adrenal gland was the only way then. Having a small tube inserted in your groin and then maneuvering it to the adrenal gland took hours

I recently had the AVS done at Kings London; oof, all that pressure and pulling and pushing. Mine's bi lateral; inoperable :(

I am wondering if this is offered in most NHS Trust or just Addenbroke alone? Most Trusts appear to continue to use the highly invasive adrenal venous sampling.

Only Barts and Addenbrookes it seems offer the PET scan under certain conditions or if AVS failed

I have BP of 180 to 200 daily no beta blockers will tuch it A blockers will for a week or so plus I get Autonomic Dysreflexia that can take me into the 240s

I have conn’s disease which causes my blood pressure to rise up in over 200. Nothing can be done to help me due to reaction to medication as here in the USA there’s not enough knowledge to save me 🥹😢😭😭😭😭😭
