1:35 歌中提到的 " 商角征羽宮 " ( Shang Jue Zhi Yu Gong ) 是說中國音樂中的五調,就像 DO RE MI FA SO LA TI DO ( 西方是七調 ) 。而這歌詞的是 "誰說寫中國風,一定要商角征羽宮" ,就是說周董要打破這規矩。 ( 看來聽周董的歌,少點中國知識還是不行。 )
Thank you Joe九爷! Love how you love music, getting excited about things you didn't expect. Keep up the enthusiastics. Jay definitely is more free to play whatever kinds of music he wants, and you're very right, he knows he's famous
Actually, in earlier period of his music production, he sometimes used elements (lyrics) from his older songs in his new songs. To me this is very special and make him very different from other artists. But for who are not native Chinese speakers, it's probably difficult for you to get those ideas. For example he used rap sentences from "Basketball Match" in the song "Dad, I'm home", without any meaning but it is really cool. Sometimes you just don't know why he sing that but we know this is from his other songs. In his later career, we don't see this kind of creative things.
He is the top and unique musician for us ( taiwanese)! I've been his fan for 20 years! I really really want to tell you his story and how good was he . But my english is not good.... T.T
Thank you Joe, love your analysis of Jay's songs😊makes me have a different approach to it when I'm listening, not just enjoying the beat, but keeping in mind the different musical elements you mentioned☺helps me enjoy his music twice as much. Hope to see another vid of you analyzing another one of Jay's songs😺
Joe thanks! what an awsome review, ur chinese pronunciation is getting better and better. Its 1am here, saw ur vid popped up and have to watch it. Will rewatch again to understand the more complicated parts 😅. Love ur replay in the end to sum up the music. Ps ur vids are so fun to watch ❤️🔥💯
I love this song but I don't think it's the best example of his more recent music. I think a better example would be Lover From The Past or Bedtime Stories from the same album. I highly recommend just listening to the full albums. It's difficult for people to get a grasp on his musical versatility if they only listen to random singles.
Thanks for another great analysis, Joe! Since we're talking about slightly cheesy but funny and funky songs (usually full of surprises), here are three more: Free Tutorial Video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lqVvHAFPIrw.html You simply cannot miss this fun piece. The theme is "teaching" people how to do certain genres of music in a kind of funny way. Like you said, he's very popular and he knows it lol. Cowboy On: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9o20U91aJdg.html Another fun and popular fast paced song by Jay. The Free Tutorial Video song actually referenced this song at one point and actually Jay does that quite often in his songs, referencing his own music that is. lol A Larger Cello: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P_XikgjUOS0.html About a Double Bass player who performs on the street. Again, so much fun!
Hi! Joe, at 6:44, when you said "He got his guitar again", Jay's lyrics literally says, "Why the heck does electric guitar come in at this moment?" Just a fun bit. Something like breaking a lyrical 4th wall?
@@lachousalle31 I mean his first album already made him famous across Taiwan but not the mainland China, Korea, and other Asian country. Nunchucks was the first song that dominated the market
You might want to remake this video or rethink your comments about the song, since you didn’t know what was the piano verse in the music until after. That should be a key point in your consideration and the evaluation for the song.
Hi Joe, I've always wanted to hear a professional producer's review of Jay Chou's ‘娘子’, a song that was a decade ahead of its time in the Chinese music industry and an unconventional piece of work. You've already reviewed ‘土耳其冰淇淋’ and '印第安老斑鸠', and I think ‘娘子‘ is on the same level as those two pieces of music. Put in the context of 2000, this is a work of Jay's imagination and creativity that goes to the moon. I hope that through your reaction, more people who like Chinese culture and Jay's music can hear this legacy.
