you have so many records of how i remember things..i guess, as a sort of age of people, we are lucky. lucky to have arcivists like you. lucky to be able to so easily re-live our memories, lucky to have seen those days.

Thanks for your comments.....Other enthusiast's thought i was mad at the time, 'video veg' would waft out of the windows of railtours or workings with locos, 37s hauled trains spring to mind! Although in later years i too would be in the front coach of a crank ex with the 37s bashers, having got to know some of them from driving the locos at work! But i captured so great workings of BR, or in later days, BR traction in action, so we can now all look back at how good it was.....

37407 had been transferred to Cardiff Canton in January, along with 37408 and 37422. All three were previously allocated to Eastfield depot, hence the west highland terrier emblem. They had been ousted from West Highland Line duties by class 156 super sprinters, and moved to Cardiff to provide cover for class 155s, taken out of service due to door faults, and also the late delivery of class 158s.

Good memories of watching bath road activities from end of platform 13.

A couple of fairly unusual Class 47 brandings there; Petroleum and Metals, I think that was? On a non very metal looking train. Also interesting was Western Region power cars 43192/023 on a CrossCountry working.

WR PC’s often worked cross country services at that time.

It's not a classic BR clip without slipping a Gronk into it. However not all BR Related clips have a Class 08 in them. But about half of what i've seen do though. Another Fantastic Clip Soi they get better each time.

Thank you, still plenty more to come....I always like to catch a gronk at work, their duties had gone down year on year as freight work fell away and loco sheds and sidings were closed......

Some were allocated to Bath Road for the Westbury stone traffic before the 59s came along and replaced them.

The InterCity 125 is 1 of the greatest trains ever
@Keithbarber
@Keithbarber 3 года назад
And with 46 years mainline service, and whilst some survive on secondary duties, their heyday is sadly over, but I think the marque will easily reach the half century when the secondary duties are taken into account Theres still life in them yet

I've always had a soft spot for them ever since seeing my first in the summer of 1976 when i was a child. I did manage to get every power car on video as well although missed a few for haulage! (but not those written off, i had them)

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus cool I watched a programme a couple of years ago about the InterCity 125 when they were developing it they were competing against another train & the 125 won it was a fascinating programme

@@ussvoyager8650 The other train could have been the electric APT which didn't make it. Some old school BR engineers offered the BR Board a disel version which did work, and that was the HST!

Great footage! Did you ever film anything on Bristol Bath Road depot?

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus I hope you'll upload them sometime soon... I'm a railway modeller and I'm making a depot very much based on Bristol Bath Road (but without the GWR heavy repair shop). Oh... just a small request... Your videos are prefect research material for railway modellers... so it's really useful to see what types of coaches a loco hauled, or how many wagons in a rake. So please don't be tempted to cut out bits like that... seeing the whole train is really useful for historians and modellers alike!
