@@unklebacon44 No, it was 2012 when all 5 pairs of guys were squared off... The 3 main events were Ryan Carter vs Stu Bickel, Cam Janssen vs Brandon Prust and Eric Boulton vs Michael Rupp
He's driving me crazy. Yesterday I was watching them react to a current Toronto Maple Leafs game, and he was confusing Max Domi for his dad Tie Domi, who hasn't played in the league for almost 20 years. Listen to your son!
The backstory behind this is Rempe from New York made multiple dirty hits to players from New Jersey in the previous 2 meetings between these teams. It's a cardinal sin in hockey to target another player's head while he's vulnerable and he did it twice. He received a 4 game suspension from the league after the most recent incident but it really created some bad blood between these teams. Everyone knew this next game was going to be all out war.
Haha I'm a Rangers fan from NY. My family and I used to vacation in Hershey Park every spring when I was a kid and we'd always try to catch a Bears game if they were playing. Great memories.
You want to see the greatest hockey fight of all time, its called "The Punch-up in Piestany" was a bench-clearing brawl between Canada and the Soviet Union during the final game of the 1987 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Piešťany, Czechoslovakia on January 4, 1987." It's on RU-vid
That actually happened in real life. The movie was based off of the 1975-76 Johnstown Jets in the old Eastern Hockey League. All the hockey stuff that happened in the movie happened in real life at one point during the season, Paul Newman loved it all and said to put it in.
A month or so ago Rempe injured one of players who was 6ft4. Rempe is 6 ft 8 and the next day the GM traded for macdermid to have an answer for him lol
Two rule changes in the late 1980s put an end to the "bench-clearing" brawls between entire teams: Any player on the ice joining a one-on-fight will receive a game misconduct (ejection) for being the "third man in," and any player going onto the ice from the bench during a fight will receive a 10-game suspension. But I've never heard of ejecting 8 of the 10 players on the ice, all of them engaged in "acceptable" one-on-one fights. I don't know exactly what rule they used to justify it. I'm sure the referees wanted to prevent any more mayhem in that game.
You guys need to watch a National Lacrosse League (NLL) game! Lacrosse is actually Canada's national sport and we allow for fighting the same as in hockey. There are some wild Lacrosse fights!
Current NHL rules are any secondary fights get ejected. So the first two players to start punching get just five for fighting and the rest get 10 minutes and a game misconduct.
This happened because Rempe had 2 head shots against 2 different devils players in the previous 2 games he got suspended for 4 games after the second 1 and wouldnt fight. Paybacks a bytch in hockey because the players never forget
@@chefboyrbuj817 Rempe in no way shape or form lost to Reavo. Even Reavo will tell you that--watch his post-game interview; it was all respect for a solid fight. You clearly have a difficult relationship with reality.
Playoffs coming up in about 2 weeks. Would love to have you choose teams. Oh, by the way, that's nothing compared to Flyers versus Penguins! Those can be incredibly violent, and the penalty minute totals there are unbelievable. When they match up in the playoffs, that series is a sight
The fact the cameras never really zoom out is so gd annoying, back in the day you would've seen all 5 fights going at the same instead of all these close ups and cutaways
to be clear: they don't "allow" players to fight anymore than they allow players to trip or hold. It happens and the refs don't "jump in" because you have two guys throwing haymakers at each other and the ref doesn't want to catch one.
This happened because of bad blood between these 2 teams in the last 2 games they played each other. You guys gotta see the "Good Friday Massacre"/ "Vendredi Saint" of 1984 between the Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordics. Best bench brawl of all time! ;)
This had just happened I reckon the old clip you’re thinking of might be the line brawl between the canucks and flames and yes both teams started a bunch of goons. Vancouver literally had a defensemen take the opening face off 🤣🤣 and at intermission John Tortorella the Canucks head coach at the time tried to go into the Flames dressing room and the NHL after this added a barrier between all dressing rooms to prevent this from ever happening again.
Never mind just realized that a line brawl just like this has happened before between nyr and nj but guess what Tortorella was also one of the coaches involved 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Got to love the irony....When they last hosted the Euro's..... Limeys had laser pointers at Danish Goalkeepers eyes, Laughed at 10 year old German girl crying and said they drank her tears, they beat up Italian fan's and thrashed London, and other Cities when they LOST.......But a hockey fight is just shocking?....Hahahahaha....Pity.
A month ago one of the Rangers checked a Devil to the face and injured him. This is the first time they have played since and that is why the game started like this.
You should react to the Senators and Panthers game where every player on the ice were assessed a 10 minute game misconduct. The benches on both sides were only half full. 😄
My father has played hockey his whole life. Him and all his hockey friends have lost some teeth with all the fights and hitting they do 🤣🤣 Its funny though, they can have a fist fight during a hockey match then go have a beer together after
to be fair, it's absolutely identical to the last time this happened and involved the Rangers. the game starts and immediately everyone matches up to a fight. i knew exactly what he was talking about.
Should've done bama vs Clemson, great game. Bama was down 13 then come back and hit 13 out of 16 or 26. Either way they went nuclear. Couldn't miss. Check it out. We're n the final 4 too
Devils and Rangers are just enemies, always have been and probably always will be. NJ came into the area in 1982, they were previously the Colorado Rockies, and previously the Kansas City Scouts. Then-owner Dr. McMullen bought the franchise and moved them to NJ. Our division had already established teams when they moved in. Rangers are an original 6 team, Islanders of the 80's were winning Cups for 4 years in a row, Philly was tough and still in the hunt for a Cup, as was Washington, but NJ moved into the area where people liked either the Islanders, Rangers, Penguins, Capitals or Flyers (it was the Patrick Division back then). Rangers never really respected the Devils so its usually a heated and bloody matchup when these teams play each other. Been a Devils fan since '82 and despite the rivalries we had with other teams in our division (Flyers most notably from the 90's onward), both teams mark the calendar when they play each other because its not a game, its a war. Sucks being the new kid on the block in a division that already had such a rabid fan base for their teams, especially when 4 teams in the division are literally less than an hour away from each other.
This is tame. Go back to the 1987 pregame brawl between the Flyers and the Canadians --- BEFORE THE GAME! Then there's the AHL brawl between the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Binghamton Senators. Then there's the one between the Penguins and Flyers that was instigated by Sidney Crosby. The color analysis by former Flyers defenseman turned broadcaster Chris Therien is priceless.
Don't forget about Flyers and Senators in 2004. Or the Flyers and Capitals in 2013. Ray Emery actually knew how to throw a punch. You don't just pretend like you are trying to hit someone, you hit them in the back of the head until they stop fighting back.
@@user-kv6wh5ut6o I worked for Comcast Sportsnet in Philadelphia. I was in the building when that happened. That game was so nuts that the programming department decided to re-air it the following night. I like the Binghamton Senators - Phantoms brawl for nothing else than seeing Neil Little skate the length of the ice from his crease and swan dive onto the pile.
It was a hit on nate Bastian he's been injured ever since. We traded for macdermid and rempe wouldn't figut him. Then he did thr hit on seigenthaler and macdermid was big mad but rempe wouldn't fight. Then we had to wait 2 or 3 weeks for this and it went nuclear
yeah guys watch the link i posted. this is kinda pansy brawl stuff. heres a list of guys: Al Iafraite Tie Domi Bob Probert Chris Nilan my favorite, TAZ! the windmill Terry O'Rielly
It's funny watching two screens. Soccer on one and Hockey on the other. One of them doesn't have to worry about flopping and faking penalties, because someone will punch you in the face. LOL
