a glimpse into the Brixton riots, views from back then and the film ends with some more recent footage of the London riots, not quite sure it fits in but hope you enjoy....
Big Thanks to all of the original producers and cameramen who captured these images especially Rayo Krill who captured some very historically valuable scenes in his great film including the great early footage of Linton Kwesi Johnson which is great to see on film, thanks for making this available.
(all footage was sourced via creative commons licensed videos and edited together by myself using youtubes editing tool)

maybe i get more views if i change the title to LKJ rare footage! i personally think this film is one of the best of it's kind from the time, the best bit gotta be 8:10 when the man blows into his wooden ROOTS carving "The Family Tree" and the noise it makes!! is like something you never heard before, like his ancestors wailing from the roots!!! along with LKJ's powerful words and then Oku's song STEPs Babylon down!, Powerful stuff!

Bwoy Ruff maximum respect for this video I grew in Brixton, carnworth house I was there when Brixton finaly caught alight.. I remember my mother putting me under the bed.. I remember getting out from under my bed and seeing police chaseing and beating anyone they see! at that time the police and ploticical powers in Westminster looked down on Brixton and the Pepole living there... my father did national service and got treated like a second class citizen for it. blessings fot posting this as it shows the real untone of life in Britain at the time....it's more low key but it's still alive and well today..but Pepole don't like talking about it!!!

When he started blowing into the instrument I felt like I was hearing the cries of my ancestors.

I remember these events well, it was a sad time, a brave time, filled with courage and cowardly acts on all sides
