I've got to say, Quill has been an absolute bro. He convinces Tetra to take you the Forsaken Fortress at the start of the game. He then does his best to get his people to help you however they can when you visit Dragon Roost Island. He tracks you down out of concern at Greatfish Island and gives you important information to progress. And now he helps you escape from Ganondorf. The dude really went above and beyond his role as a postman. I guess dealing with all those postboxes will do that to a guy.

At long last... Nico got his "Sheik is Zelda!" moment that he was robbed of thanks to Smash Bros :D

Fun Fact: Not only is the Korok mission tougher in the original due to not having the Swift Sail, but the timer was reduced to 20 minutes as opposed to 30, basically requiring you to use the fast travel.

You stopped at a good point this episode. There's some easily missed but really interesting dialogue with the King of Red Lions if you talk to him right now.

There is something a little sad about Link finally reuniting with his sister for so long, but now being forced to leave her with the others and act like a grown-up to go up against someone beyond himself in order to save the world at such a young age

What I love about the Helmaroc King is that when he tries to do his ground grind move in the wrong direction, he can and DOES totally smack his face into the tower. Just as importantly, once the mask is removed, he is revealed to be one of Links most deadly of foes: A giant Cucco/chicken! Ganondorf knew what he was doing when he made it.

You’ve actually been doing a pretty good job about taking pictures of all the permanently-missable figurines so far. In fact, most of them you got in just this episode. But in case you don’t know, there’s two weirdly BS ones that are way different from a major boss or character: -Some random Rito NPC that just up and disappears after progressing far enough in the main story, so I’d advise you to just take a picture of everyone on Dragon Roost as soon as possible. -And a one-time sub-boss in an upcoming dungeon. Just be on the lookout for the color red.

Trust me Nico, YOU WILL NEED EVERY RUPPEE.

the Tingle bottle was invaluable when doing the Nintendo Gallery quest since it allowed you to share photos of rare or harder to photograph enemies through Miiverse. you would constantly come across bottles that only had a photo attached with the message "pass it on"

The moment Ganon points his sword at Link was the closest he ever got to killing the hero... and he got stopped by a sassy pirate girl. RIP ganon.

You know, it's kind of funny how you joke about everyone in this _particular_ game packing heat. In the spinoff game Hyrule Warriors, you can play as Tetra, who wields a cutlass... and a gun. It's particularly amusing to me since, as you've just found out, it's essentially _Princess Zelda_ with a straight-up gun.

The boss fight with the Helmaroc King is one of my favourites in the series. It's been built up since the start of the game, shit's personal, and it has such a good, dramatic atmosphere. The adrenaline as you sprint up the staircase as the room floods, dodging the bird only to smash its beak in as you reach the top, before you have a grand battle near the top of the entire fortress with great music, before you slay the beast and have the awesome shot of all the spotlights panning to its death while the triumphant victory tune plays. One of the best, seriously.

45:12 Here’s a fun fact: Much like the Phantom Ganondorf & Ganondorf fights in Ocarina of Time, the developers allowed his balls of light to be bounced back *by an Empty Bottle.* Just use the Empty Bottle when the ball comes at you, and you can bounce it back as easily as you could with the sword, probably easier. This is never explicitly said in the game, and it’s a neat secret to find.

You can tell this game is a a fantasy game because a school teacher is wealthy enough to afford a cabana.

We simply can't have Ganondorf meet with the Mailbox, if he gives Ganon a gun he'll truly be invincible!

I really like how the Helmaroc King (big bird up) establishes itself as an important antagonist in the story with a significant role, even if it doesn't speak one word and it's urgency is directly under Ganondorf's. He kicks off the story by mistaking Aryll with Tetra and kidnapping her (which, good GOD he did that or else Ganon would've checkmated the entire world there and then now that we know she's seemingly Princess Zelda), then establishes itself as a major powerful foe by stopping Link from saving his sister by picking him off and tossing him across the ocean. You can even see Link carefully look around all the ways on his second attempt to make sure it isn't coming in. That's how this one enemy has made an imprint into our hero. And for Link, this bird not only kidnapped his sister, but also has defeated him once. It makes so much sense that once you return and completely wreck the place till you go back to the chamber Aryll's at, you end up facing it and defeating it. It shows Link's progress through the game; he can defeat foes that before would've otherwise easily stopped him dead in his tracks before. Defeating the Helmaroc King also gives purpose to the trials Link had to face to get the Goddess' Pearls and subsequently the Master Sword. The player will not feel a difference besides the progress they've made to get there, but for Link, he has faced so many hurdles that now defeating the Helmaroc King is possible for him. In other games, there wouldn't be a Helmaroc King early on to show how much he has grown from these seemingly asinine trials to "show his courage". I may be looking too much into it, but I really like the Helmaroc King. Badass design, actual purpose in the story besides big boss to face and also a really cool name. Rest in sweet pepperonis, big guy.

I always loved how active the characters are in this game compared to other Zelda games. The world feels a lot more alive, it's not just Link saving the lives of people who never leave their homes. The Pirates, the Ritos, the three ancient ones, whoever is talking on the other side of the stone... it all feels like there's a bunch of stories all happening at once in the background. You're just following one of them. Not gonna get into spoilers, but this continues even further into the game. A lot of my favorite character moments haven't even happened yet! Even old Ganondorf himself is often times said to be way better developed in this game than in other games.

The whole bit of being in a massive rush is fucking hilarious

If I might make a suggestion, try feeding a Fishman you already fed before. It isn't necessary, but you'll get to see a new side of Fishmen.

For being “The Blade of Evil’s Bane” The Master Sword seems to really hate Link: In Breath of the Wild it tries to kill Link In Ocarina of Time it knocks him into a seven year coma allowing Ganondorf to take over In this game it breaks the seal on Ganondorf’s magic and is useless as a weapon because somebody forgot to change the batteries

Link, a Nintendo main character: I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a Pirate. Tetra: How about side by side with a friend?

I should mention, the master sword is a tiny bit longer, it’s not immediately noticeable unless you really look but the sheath pokes out past the shield where the other one didn’t

Y'Know, something I've noticed about Nico this playthrough is the relative passivity that he has. He looked around at things early on and said "I think I need bombs for that... if I get any." Then, when actually gets bombs, he only uses them for the bombable objects... and when he fights a Big Octo and has a Literal Cannon in his back pocket, he instead uses the boomerang. So, Nico. I don't know if you'll see this (Doubting it tbh) but as a friendly riddle for your journey: Blow up the Sea so you may finally See how great Bombs can Be. ...now the question isn't Will he, it's an Eventually.

Oh, that's so sweet! Prince Komali was able to visit Valoo and receive his wings!

This was already talked about before I believe, but it is still very interesting when you think about the heroes and Ganondorf. Almost every single game in the series, you get to know a brand new Zelda and Link, who are either descendants of the previous ones, reincarnations, or both. But Ganondorf is different. He is no descendant or reincarnation of the previous one. Almost all of his major appearances in the mainline games are the very same Ganon from Ocarina of Time, who thanks to the split in the timelines, all got to experience different lives to some extent. They all grow into different people, with different approaches to their goals. Each timeline is basically a giant "what if" scenario for him. It makes Ganondorf feel that much more interesting, as each version of him is technically a different villain in a way.

So, about the missable figurines, you havent missed any so far, actually, you managed to take MOST of the missable ones in this episode (the big octo, cyclos (the tornado frog), phantom ganon, tetra, and helmaroc king (birb boss)). There are 3 missable figurines left for you to take a picture of; for now you can only do 1 of those 3, that would be a npc called kogoli near medli in dragon roost, you have to do this one before the story asks you to go see medli again. The other 2 are mini bosses, just make sure to take pics of the bosses/mid bosses and you will be golden.

It’s funny how Nico said that the photography mechanic in this game reminded him a Dark Cloud, when he said the same exact thing about the camera in breath of the wild

So the reveal that Tetra is Zelda is actually foreshadowed earlier back in Hyrule castle. Remember that picture of her? Well, if you’d looked a little closer, you’d have noticed that the other people in it all looked EXACTLY like Tetra’s pirate crew. Yeah, a few of us in the Discord were shaking our heads. Either way, Tetra Zelda is arguably one of her better iterations

now that he finished watching bleach and got the master sword, link finally gets out of his room to confront ganondorf... until he realized the chainsaw man anime is out! He got so hyped about it he pinged everyone he knows, including his grandma, his sister, and even ganondorf! ganondorf then got addicted to the series he stopped doing anything evil for the rest of time. THE END

Needless to say, I think all three members of the triforce are at their best in this game. Ganon has been fleshed out quite a bit at this point, and here he’s on top of everything while the weapon that sealed him away for years is something he’s now using to his advantage. Remember the days where he was just a giant pig monster? Also Zelda is a sassy pirate, so also another win.

There are many hints that Tetra is Zelda, or at the very least, is part of the Zelda's royal bloodline aside the fact she recognize the Master Sword. If you check out out Tetra room while you were getting the bombs, her room was full of the legend about the Hero of Time, including the pictures from the prologue and the triangles island (which is probably where she saw and heard about the Master Sword). Also, checking out the pictures in Hyrule Castle and you will see that Zelda's royal guard look very similar to the pirates. Her name, Tetra, also sounds similar to Zelda, especially when the 'e' and the 'a' are located in the same slot. As for the figurines, without going into much detail, you haven't miss a figurine yet. You were able to get one that is misable, which is the frog. And you can get the boss of Tower of God by going back to the boss room and take a picture of his head on the wall. And yes, NG+ will save all the figurine you took in the first playthrough but the best part is that you also start off with the Deluxe Pico Box from the get go. oh and there is a reward for getting all the figurine. I will say that, to avoid a low key missable figurine, take pictures of all the non important NCP of those in Dragon Roost Island before you head out to the next dungeon. Have fun.

"Money is gonna be useless" Hahaha...ha...*cries* I loved this moment with the Helmaroc King. he tosses you in part one and after running the main fight has a sort of comedic tone to it. it ferls nice you pushing it around as payback. the moment with Aaryl made me so upset when i was a kid. being used to the handheld console game where your growth to hero affects just you, Link here especially is still a kid having to grow up fast that he has to leave his sis behind. it's why i love that you usually start off as a normal person growing into hero.

Link: "Oh my Judge Ganon dodged my strongest sword strike!" Ganon: "I didn't even move." Link: "Oh... Well TAKE THIS THUNDER CROSS SPLIT ATTACK!!" Ganon: *Grabs Link and tosses him out the window* "What were you even thinking?! Was that a Jojo reference?!" Link: "Everything is a Jojo reference ever Wonder of that U silly billy..."

When Shuichi Link first went to the Forsaken Fortress, he was but a boy, sneaking around and avoiding fights. Now he is a man and he is armed and ready to kick ass. Kokichi Link would be proud of his not-descendant.

The Cannon is stronger than the boomerang, so it's faster to just blast him.

If you looked at a painting in the main hall of Hyrule Castle closer, you'd realise there were people very familiar to you. You even remarked about Princess Zelda being present in the painting in Hyrule Castle. Who are the other people? Well that's something you'll find for yourself and realise that the clues to Tetra's reveal were there all along.

No Tetra didn’t know she was Zelda. Her parents hid her away from Ganon also it’s ironic that the Red Lion didn’t realize that the master sword isn’t at full power. What a goof!

As for the Zelda twist another hint towards it you skipped over was during the secound visit to the pirate ship to get the bombs tetra's room was ungarded. If you went in you can find a LOT of stuff that indicates Tetra is more invested in the plot then she seems. Which is a shame you walked right past the room and didn't even think about it.

I love the idea that Link is just having Ganon about to kill him with a sword, but instead of Tetra coming to save him, he just screams at him to hold still and pulls out his pictograph to take a picture. Like he did with the evil bird!

So, there’s also a painting in Hyrule Castle that has Princess Zelda on there, but it has something neat on it. It’s a big painting, so you’ll know it once you see it.

Two important things happened this episode, the reveal of Zelda's identity, which many actually saw coming while most actually enjoy the twist. And one of the most satisfying moments in all of Zelda, the first hammer to the head of the big dumb bird, it's just therapeutic to reach the point after so long when you can take down the big monster that captured Link's sister and beat you up at the start of the game.

It's amazing the things you get used to and tolerate as a kid. I never realized that the Picto restrictions were so bad compared to what it was like these days! I guess it's like how Gen 1 Pokemon is nearly unplayable for me, what with me getting used to move deletion, better moves, more space in my bag, etc.

And so, Ganondorf perished that day, not from a fatal strike from the blade of evil’s bane, but an old dragon flying in and roasting his bedroom to a crisp while he was inside. It is said that to this day his screams of agony can still be heard within the dragon fire lit long ago, his death caught in its final moments, locked in time. The boy who had challenged him taking glee in driving the winds northern, stirring the flames higher

Now that Tetra´s true identity has been revealed here are some clues that this game gave us to conect the dots: -First up, as the Rito postman said early in the there has been mysterious kidnapping of young girls with "pointy ears". The pointy ears as many know it´s the main characteristic to difereance Hylians from regular humans -Tetra´s blond hair: As the majority of Princess Zeldas( with some exceptions like the one from Twilight Princess) share that specific color. -If you look inside Tetra´s room in her pirate ship ( around the time you obtain the bombs) you could see a map pointing at the Tower of Gods - In the Italian version of this game Tetra is actually called Dazel ( a not so subtle anagram of Zelda) - And last but not least in Hyrule Castle there are two painting, as you noticed one of them has a Princess Zelda but if you look to the people who join her in that image, you can see the ancestors of Tetra´s pirate crew

Nico, you can get the figurine of the boss of the Tower of the Gods by taking a photograph of his statue in the boss room.

Fun Fact: The Phantom Ganon you fight in the Forsaken Fortress can be killed using an empty bottle. You can swing a bottle and it will deflect the shots just like your sword can

There's also another way to make use of the skull hammer that the game doesn't say you can do. If you flick the control stick from left to right just before pressing the button you can swing the skull hammer sideways to knock smaller enemies back. It's a pretty effective tool for crowd control.

Canonicly this Ganondorf is the one who fault and lost to Kokichi Link. If I lost to him and that snigger of his, id probably spend a big part of my resurgence eating MCHyrules and drowning my sorrows in Chateau Romani. Wide Ganondorf has mad PTSD.

This Link is the most badass Link. Or at least the "Vin Diesel" of Links Since OoT LInk was telelported back there was no spirit of the Hero/courage to reincarnate. So this boy, literally went through dungeons to the pearls, to bring about the Tower of Gods, to prove his courage and to make him a "hero". And since he was made the "hero", he was also able to wield the Master Sword. And why did he do all this? Family.

I like how in Ocarina of Time, Zelda disguised herself as a ninja. While in this game, she's a pirate. XD

As a reminder, there are 8 missable photos in total, and in actuality you have not missed ANY of them yet. You'd think that there would be a lot more, but the devs did at least provide failsafes for many of them, just not ALL of them. So far you've successfully taken the first 5 photos: The Big Octo, Cyclos, Phantom Ganon (who you got the hammer from), the Helmaroc King (the giant bird), and Tetra (who normally only shows up in cutscenes besides this one section in the castle), leaving 3 more that could screw you out of 100% if missed. The last two won't be for a while, but #6 is coming up soon, and is missable for a completely random and arbitrary reason, making it the easiest to overlook. Essentially, there is this random Rito on Dragon Roost Island named Kogoli (NOT Komali, similar names I know but this is just some generic guy) who for no discernible reason will just vanish from the game entirely after a certain point in the story. There's seemingly no real connection between his disappearance and the event that triggers it, which suggests to me that it's due to some kind of glitch, but if so, it's a glitch that they unfortunately didn't fix here in the HD version. All I can really say is that you should make sure to photograph every generic Rito on Dragon Roost ASAP if you want his photo before he's gone. As a tip, he should be on one of the outdoor walkways during the day, so good luck.

The figurine quest does have a reward for completion (at least it did the Gamecube version), but it is just a figurine. There are also some things to be aware of. All the missable figurines comprise of bosses, one miniboss, and a rito NPC (whom will disappear soon). Also some figurines come from pictographs that you can't take yourself. For those, you can talk to the pictograph guy at night. The dark hands that put you in jail are called floor masters, and they're terrible! If you get caught, they set you back! The helmet Beedle sells expensive goods if you want to lose some of that dough.

I LOVE the Forsaken Foretress. When you first arrive you lose your sword and are defensless the whole time so you have to sneak your way in there. Then, after you get the Master Sword and the Hammer you are no longer defenseless, now you are fully prepared to wreck the whole place. And the battle against Helma Roc King (big birb) is so satisfying as you can finally finish the reason you sister was kidnapped, your grandma got sick of loneliness and you almost died only to finish meeting Ganondorf while he immediatly asserts dominance by knocking out Link and Tetra. One of my favorite moments in the entire franchise.

I fucking love Ganondorf. Ganondorf is pretty consistently a good character in the games with a story, and he's at the top of his game here. I also fucking love how, unlike in Ocarina of Time, Zelda isn't outed by her being an idiot (in Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf finds her because she chose to reveal herself to Link for basically no reason even though the point of the disguise was to hide herself from him). Meanwhile here, it happened because of sheer chance, because the Triforce just happened to resonate and Tetra didn't know that it was important.

There are actually more pieces of foreshadowing about Tetra being Zelda. When Tetra’s ship landed on Windfall Island, you can go to her room, where you can see a picture of Link holding the Master Sword from the beginning of the game. Another example is that if you examine the picture of Zelda inside Hyrule Castle, you’ll notice that the people standing next to her looks a lot like Tetra’s pirate crew.

The ghost guy is phantom ganon, and his fight is just like phantom ganon from ocarina of time. The fight of hitting back a ball of energy is called Deadman's volley and is a staple boss type for Zelda

When I was a kid I would go to cabana island to relax. Like I would literally be stressed, turn on my GameCube and pretend Link was on vacation and live vicariously through him for a few minutes.

This is my favorite incarnation of Ganondorf.

The Wind Waker figurine (while tedious) is still millions of miles better than the one in Minish Cap. With that said, this was really something I loved about BotW. Filling out the compendium was honestly super fun. Especially getting really good shots of enemies. Warms the photographer heart in me.

It feels good seeing the Helmaroc King finally get what it deserves.

Quick Tip! The sequence immediately after the Forsaken Fortress at Hyrule Castle is bizarrely one of your only opportunities in the game to get a picture of Tetra for the Gallery since most of her appearances are only in cutscenes. So take a minute to do that at the start of the next episode before you continue, if you’re interested.

to fully answer your question at the start, yes. Hyrule is the kingdom specifically. This is actually more important in other games that you haven't played yet.

You can swing the skull hammer vertically which is generally better for attacking Try hitting the little imp swarms (miniblins) with the vertical swing it's pretty funny

Valoo showing up like that is one of my favorite parts of the game. Finally one of the powerful people in a LoZ game got off their ass and helped.

It's funny how he talks about the picture taking in Dark Cloud 2, because the same thing is in Breath of the Wild, which I hope returns for the sequel
