Hey truckers! Chicago had a decent amount of snow recently, just like most of the northern United States. The shaft broke on this truck when the driver was trying to get out. Tune in to see what happened and some ways to avoid this from happening if you get stuck.

Porter greetings! ❄️ This was one of your drivers…did he get a Chewin Out? Hope he didn’t lose his job. That really shouldn’t happen, but sometimes people get in a hurry. That shaft was all screwed up and lost his heads! 😵‍💫 The new parts look quite good. I bet that was about a $2000 job…with a $1K tow bill on top of that.🧐 I’ve never thought of using wiper fluid on the snow. Sand, cat litter or gravel is a good thing to carry. Thanks for showing us. 🥰😢✌️

Your on point. As OO self infected cost is hard lesson learn. Being stuck happens rocking and don't giving up is what happens. In hindsight waiting for $300 wrecker seems cheap. A 50 PD bag salt even cheaper. Just happened to me in Detroit. 50 PD bag salt spread in front of all 4 drive tires lock in. Was able to get enough traction get out. I didn't have a second chance only 1 bag. Lucky. I seen a trucker take 4 short chains that was able to go through rim around one tire link the ends together on each axle as. Slowly as the tire turns the chain grabs the truck rolls out unstuck remove chains.

Saw this happen once when i was pulling a belly dump trailer. A driver got stuck and instead of waiting a couple minutes for the machine to push him out, he revved tf fwd and in reverse and boom. Shaft went out. He Spent the rest of the day stuck there all because he didnt want to wait not even 1 minute for the tractor to push him out lol

i carry a metal flat shovel with a slightly shortened D-handle so it will fit inside my storage box on the truck.

I keep a shovel and rock salt in the truck just in case this happens

I understand the shovel, instead of salt, try sand or kitty litter.the salt just melts and makes a slurry, actually makes it more slipperly.trust me

How much was this repair?

It most likely snapped becuase he revd up high spinning the wheels and then stabbed the brakes. It's an instant stop.
