I think of the life at Lalande like one of Marie's bouquets. Some are wild, some are formal, some subdued, some cheery and bright, some take turns being the focal point, some are supporters, and all are parts of the whole beautiful arrangement.

I've seen green timber used in constriction but I can't remember the explanation he gave as to why it wouldn't be a problem.

@@loloholmes2793 I have to disagree with what you say. First of all the posts being used at LaLande are for a pergola. Secondly, there are factors to be considered such as the type of tree being used and, thirdly, just some basic research will prove that green wood is universally used in the construction of timber frame houses and log cabins.

KAT cracks me up - I've said it before - she's the gal-pal I'd love to have, nobody like her at LL and she adds the humorous tack to the fun follks there but with a slightly edgier bent that is right after me heart!! Amaury is the buff stud all the women seem to gravitate to - while Dan looks on thinking to himself - if ONLY I looked like that!! LOL!! Great fun people all the way around. And Kat with the WD40 as Amaury's sheen - she simply cracks me up. That's all. And Stephanie doesn't help - but eggs Kat on to added silliness but too much fun. Dan and his digger - well "a man and his tools" you know. Like Tim the tool-man Taylor (the comedian Tim Allen) - I mean it's boy's toys - something that we guys gravitate to. Hilarious. I think he's glued to the seat sometimes. He does like that digger - oh, and the flame thrower for the weeds. Boy's toys indeed.

I am loving the woodworking talk. Tell Amaury to keep it up! I learned about various grain direction of milled boards in my beginning class, but this fall term, I’ve already learned how to take a plain sawn board (which moves the most) and remill it to harvest a part out of it that’a rift sawn (moves less and has straight, even grain on all faces). It’s a really neat skill. Not sure about Europe, but I recently learned that here in the US, most lumber for outdoor building like fences is green wood. Apparently it’s because only wood used for building has to be dried to meet building and housing code requirements, which include not just quality/soundness but also moisture level. And drying lumber takes time and money, so any time they can sell green wood instead, they will for maximum profit.
