It's a great day of chateau renovation as the new fridges and freezer arrive and we are finally able to move the food into the pantry! There's also a lot of typical Lalande life, as we try to catch the peachicks for Terry and Ash, to send them to their new life as the founding peacocks of the Chateau de Lalacelles!

Dear Steph, Please store the honey on a lower shelf away from direct sunlight to avoid it warming up and being pasteurised in the jars which shall result in the honey losing all the beneficial medicinal goodness : )

I love the way you are sharing the lovely creatures. I am in Fl and there are a few around…they make me happy they are so exotic. In a Miami neighborhood apparently the have run amok and the residents want them gone. I think you are wise to keep the numbers low. We shall discuss in 20 yrs when they blame LaLande for so many! The ice cube trays are brilliant. And the pantry is perfect. But you need to move the honey out of the sun. It needs to be in a cool dry place away from heat.

They couldn’t catch Laughter. It seems odd that knowing they were coming to get them, they hadn’t already caught them. Having had peacocks, it’s generally easier to catch them in the evening when they go to roost

Hi Stephanie! I suggest you put a stopper on the wall next to the first fridge. In this way when you open the door it won't scratch or dent it. All the best 😉

Really thought with a whole video devoted to the pantry that there might have been a nod to all the wonderful work Dan did transforming the space AND the hallway leading into it! Having a full and organized pantry brings with it a sense of accomplishment, preparedness, and fulfillment - it's as if whatever comes along, you'll feel prepared! I would highly recommend putting a whiteboard somewhere in the room, and establishing a rule that when someone uses something, it goes on the shopping whiteboard (or just a notepad list) so that it can be restocked BEFORE it's needed! We've been using that system in our house for years, and it has enabled me to cook things spontaneously, knowing I have the ingredients called for...

You opened up the pantry memories for many of us. As a child entering my Më Méres home I went straight to the pantry, not for the food but just to be in that special sweet place. The sun would be best through the Window! Happiness! The garden in the courtyard is going to be something wonderful this year in Minnesota it would take three times as long to its glory. I have a ‘walk-in’ pantry too. It is amazing. Feels like my own little grocerystore 😁 When my kids have friends over they take them to the pantry and say: ‘Well, this is my mom’s little store’. 😂

I am so happy the the chicks are going to a good home and that we still get to see them! we had to put aluminum foil strips on the tree that the woodpecker kept drilling holes into. It works!

Love the pantry .When I eventually move I want a pantry .I hate overhead fitted cupboards .Look great but are useless and as I'm very short have great trouble reaching them .Like you I have a vast collection of blue and white (mostly Blue Italian ) and would love it displayed in my kitchen properly .I use it daily .Loved Blue and White since I was a child as my Grandfather's dresser was full of it .Just wish I had his lovely Irish dresser now !

That is so fantastic that Thor's babies are going to live with Ash and Terry's family at their chateau. Terry's Mom and Dad- Tracy and Tony will enjoy the peacocks but Terry's little nephew, Jonathan will really love them. No doubt, that little boy will be fascinated as the peacocks grow and change. They are truly a lovely family and doing amazing work at restoring their chateau and cottage.
