In the previous episode of 'Plant One On Me', Anders Lindstrom and I took a tour across the grounds of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in southern Thailand. Now we'll take a look at their Bromeliaceae display gardens, propagation area, and private collection.

Anders Lindstrom is very impressive! It seems he knows the Latin name of every plant they possess and can recall it without effort. High five to him; I'm in awe. I was also impressed with his plant finding technique, on some occasions at least - "Pee Stop Finds" are a new plant collection idea on me!

The large Aechmea species is by far the best bromeliad. They grow tall, have the best flowers, are the most hardy to cold and sun and have beautiful leaves.

I definitely appreciate conservation efforts!! I think it's great to see how much they're trying to preserve on their own, even in a place that isn't like, set up to be dry. I def would have a concern about keeping like, potentially invasive stuff fully outside. Better to keep your like, kalanchoes inside, even if they're endangered

I wasn't sure I was going to watch all 50 minutes of this video I just couldn't get into the first almost 10 minutes that I watched. I've come back to this video and now have watch 30 minutes of it and it gets much better . It's not about the care of bromeliads it's just about how hard it is maybe to grow bromeliads as a mass planting in a hot climate in the Sun ... Not sure I'm going to watch all those 50 minutes I'm sorry summer I was too quick to quit watching and commenting on this video... I usually enjoy summers video but this video takes a while to understand where it's going... I don't know that much about bromeliads so my expectations or different than what this video was about.

@@MultiFreddy34 I understand it's called an interview but the interview was talking about the plant and they weren't showing the plant they were showing the man's face I didn't tune in to see a man's face. I tuned in to see the bromeliad up close it was disappointing

@kathleenmurphy2379 4 года назад
Summer Raine i hope you took my comment as a positive and not a negative... I am a plant person and really enjoy being able to see plants I can't see in person. I'm limited in what I can go out and see in person. Even on my own channel I choose to show my plants instead of me because it's not about me it's about my plants. Also it's partly because all the technology I can use to film with I only have my cell phone available to me. Also it's hard to watch people talk about their plants but it's mostly them I see on my cell phone screen or my tablet screen. I have no problem with you appearing on screen whenever you do your videos when you're talkin about things and you have your table set up in front of you cuz I can see all your plants. But since I'm not watching it on a big screen TV I kind of wish that there were more close-ups of the plants you're talkin about. I don't know how many people aren't able to watch on a computer screen or a big screen TV so maybe I'm in the minority when I speak about this. I mean no harm or criticism when I make this suggestion. But in your video there wasn't much close up of the plants by the person holding the camera it was more panting the group of bromeliads rather than focusing on one or two so you really could get a feel for more than a few seconds of what the plant was really like. Maybe it's jealousy because I wasn't there to look at all those things in person tee hee. I love your videos
@summerrayneoakes
@summerrayneoakes 4 года назад
Hi Kathleen, I respect your comment. Not all my videos are for everyone. What I like about RU-vid is the longer format, however. I would have been doing my host and Nong Nooch a great disservice if I didn’t show the scope and scale of their operation too while still showing their plants. Even though this was 47 minutes long, it covers about 35 plants, or one every 75 seconds; and we try to go in depth into each one. I know most people will never get an opportunity to see a place like this, to see a large scale operation of Tillandsia and bromeliad Propagation, of the creative ways to display, the hardships some plants face and what they look like when they get too much sun, for instance, and sometimes that means not always showing a close up collage on plants. I think places like Instagram are better for getting quick Plant fixes, but I want to help tell the human story as well-at least on this channel. Additionally, though I wish I had the budget for two camera people, I don’t, so we don’t always get adequate close ups. We were dealing with a camera on the fritz with the heat, audio hiccups, and heat that was unbearable to my camera person but he was such a good sport. Though I think people think these are high budget excursions. They aren’t. It’s just two of us trying to put out beautiful content on plants and the people who love them. We can’t hit the mark with everyone, like we didn’t with you, but like I said, it’s about creating something that is fulfilling for me and for those who care to watch it. Thanks for your feedback
@kathleenmurphy2379
@kathleenmurphy2379 4 года назад
@@summerrayneoakes oh my gosh I think this is more drama than I ever thought it would be. I was just making a suggestion for maybe the future I don't like to be a complainer. When I watch a video I always comment because if someone takes the time to make a video for me to watch I always like to take the time to make a comment! I'm honored that you replied show my comment! Because you have thousands and thousands of subscribers and viewers. I always try to remember to click like before you can watch a video because it's the least I can do for people who take the time to make a video for me to watch. Also at the time I was watching your video there was some drama going on and is still going on with the health of my one son I guess I was just trying to on the way to escape what was going on around me I looking at God's gifts to us these beautiful plants. And I don't know a lot about bromeliads and I was fascinated by seeing so many. It was very interesting hearing his insight into how difficult some plants are to grow and to propagate and how by hybridizing some you come up with a much stronger plant. And I realize you don't have a big budget for your Productions and it's not always easy to film especially in a hot humid climate. I'm sorry I came across as being unappreciative of all your hard work. I feel like now maybe I didn't give enough time watching the video before I made the comment I did. As I watch a video I called in as I go along and sometimes I think I called it too much but it's just me I like to interact and it feel like I'm having a meaningful conversation with the person that I had the video posted. As if we were sitting having a cup of coffee talkin about the video and the plants. I appreciate all your videos that I realized you weren't the one doing the filming. I just thought maybe whoever fills for you could have spent a little more time focusing on the plants. When the plants are on the screen you can still hear the person talking. I've enjoyed your videos and I especially enjoyed your video at NSE tropicals and I think that video there was a lot of time spent on the plants which is the part I enjoy the most. And you're right the thing about RU-vid is everyone couldn't set up things the way they want and the way they feel comfortable. Thank you so much for responding to my comment. The problem with comments and texts and emails and even a phone call is we can't see facial features and we can't here tone of voice on a text or an email. It's funny about communication throughout history our first Communications were face-to-face before writing was invented and I guess then as long as both people spoke the same language there wasn't a lot of misunderstanding and what was meant by what was said. So I apologize for the bottom of my heart if you took it as criticism it wasn't meant that way God bless you and all your work. If you ever get back to that lady's home that had all the Hoya collection I would love to see more of her. I would love her to explain her setup which was so interesting and where did she buy all that equipment to keep precious Hoyas in that needed extra help. She just had such an interesting setup that you probably could have spent a week of video and get her place. I do remember your videos and I do enjoy them God bless you and keep you safe and all your Journeys around the world. You're a special person out there RU-vid land
