I was sheltered in a middle-class white community in a red area of Ohio, US by conservative parents. They weren't racist though. I graduated in the 90s. When I joined the Army, I met so many amazing people from all over the county and world. I realized then, at 19, how much I didn't know about a lot of things, including racism, sexism, misogny, and bigotry. Once the internet became a more accessible tool, I was again exposed to a variety of ideals. I realized what I grew up on (conservatism) was sh1t. I don't know how anyone who's grown up on the internet can feel the way she obviously did. I'm what the christofascists would call a crazy liberal. My beliefs in conservastism changed as I literally saw the worst of society in my real life. I saw that my now ex-husband was a misogynistic asshole and I divorced him. He is a hardcore MAGA guy now and I'm so glad I divorced him way back in 2009. I've taught my kids bigotry in any way is unacceptable. My daughter is a gay liberal and I'm her biggest supporter. My son isn't a MAGA but he does lean into republican ideas on government spending because he chooses to live with his dad (he's 21) but his social views are definitely liberal. And I think he's becoming more liberal because he has schizophrenia and sees the lack of resources for mental health and how he's been treated by the cops and mental health professionals.

She's not sorry, she's not even sorry she got caught. She's just trying to protect her bag. Sounds like she's been confronted several times. The backlash was just small enough to ignore then

I am just a regular person and routinely clean out my socials. I have no intention of ever becoming a public figure, either. How they are able to be on the internet without doing that blows my mind. I guess it’s an entitlement issue? Who knows.

Do you know how easy it is to not be racist? Like hating people based on their skin color takes passion, time, and energy. You simply don't have to.

I live in a small town, conservative, red state, in midwest United States. Thank God my parents are good people. Theyre educated but also have good morals and ethics. Racism, bigotry, hate, etc. were never tolerated. I've seen it in my extended family and friends. And I still see it so heavily around election time. And while I think everyone is entitled to an opinion, if your opinions align with terrible people like Donald trump, then I've come to the conclusion that I really don't need you in my life. People that I really love and care for, I have stepped back from because they openly support things that I do not tolerate: Racism, homophobia, lying, fraud, misogyny, sexual abuse, abuse of power...etc etc etc. I'm too old to be wasting precious time on people that are ok with those disgusting ideals. Brooke is a public figure. Did she not think that people would call her out on her crazy social media posts??? She's still appearing very young, dumb, and naive, despite her attempts at saving face. Unfortunately, where I'm from, people proudly post the stupid type of shit Brooke has posted in her past. It's extemely frustrating and annoying.
@ciecie16
@ciecie16 Месяц назад
This is honestly insane… I don’t understand how Brooke can claim she didn’t know better when she knows if she was saying these things at school she’d get suspended/ in trouble. So how can she act like she didn’t know better? Not only way she racist, she was entitled and hateful enough to publicly post these things and not fear repercussions. That’s next level. One of her tweets states how she started faking liberal views in college for better grades. She mentioned Trump on the podcast like 2 weeks ago. Then liked the post after all this. She 100% is MAGA and fakes that she’s not for acceptance.

I grew up in a very conservative area. My parents were very republican facing but never made racist comments. They always told me how every heart beats the same in each chest. We are all human to the core. I just hate that anyone would treat a person less than. Her tweets were disgusting. I immediately unfollowed. It’s so awful.

I wonder sometimes what someone would have to do or say for their apology to actually be considered acceptable and for people to not say "they're just doing it because they got called out." Isn't that how people grow and change? Nothing changes until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change. It's not my place to decide whether her apology is acceptable or sincere because I'm not the wronged party, however I do think often about how aggressively we try to force people back into the pigeonhole they're trying to grow out of when they choose to try to apologize, learn from their mistakes, and be better. Regardless of the reason for the actions, she can definitely learn and become a better person. I don't think there's anything that can really be SAID beyond I'm sorry, and maybe an explanation of the inappropriate or wrong thought processes or situations that happened...and then it has to be shown through growth and genuine change of behavior, which has to be proven over time. Just to clarify, I'm mostly just speaking broadly about influencers who do shitty things and then apologize, and the reactions that come afterwards, not about Brooke in particular. I don't think I've ever seen or heard an apology that was really all encompassing for something as awful as this...but I do believe that there are people who have grown out of racist ideologies and beliefs. I don't think it's acceptable to expect forgiveness from the people who were hurt by it though.
