Brooklands incredible New Years Day Car Meet! 

It was spectacular. With a Concorde airliner as a backdrop!✈

Once lived in Byfleet and would often explore the outside of the Byfleet banking and find bits of 20's and 30's racing cars in the leaf litter and soil under the trees 30 and 40 years after they went over the top. The last whole aircraft to be built and take off from the Vickers Armstrong (later BAC) factory was the VC10's, always over the village as the railway embankment was at the Weybridge end of the runway and had a blast deflector to stop the jet blast from blowing trains over. Few aircraft returned to the factory after the Viscounts and Vanguards were withdrawn from BEA and BOAC service, only remember one BOAC VC10 that returned and left again as the first RAF VC10 air to air refueling tanker, they replaced the ageing ex V Bomber Victors and Valiants. The rest were converted at Filton, Bristol or by the RAF who had VC10's as transport aircraft. Bits of Concorde were made at the Brooklands factory. The TSR 2 was going to be built there and at Filton before the project was scrapped after the prototype was built and undergoing testing.

Brooklands, amazing place to be just due to their variety of vehicles. Wanna go there again at some point and I'm actually thinking of volunteering there in order to get experience with vehicle maintenance and repair. They run their vintage buses every so often, you can get them during heritage running days for example where they run on the existing routes they ran on. 62 in Dagenham will be getting a heritage running day this March actually.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing - a Mk 1 Escort 2-door with a full-width front-bumper and the original hub-caps. Unbelievable! 😂🤣

Some great old cars Matt and at times I did feel like I was doing 150mph in my armchair 😂, gosh you sped around the cars so fast my head spun 😁. Looked a good day out and nice that Furious Junior is becoming a chip off the old block .

The interview with Ian wasfantastic! It was nice to see all my favourite RU-vidRS in one place. I know you have been to the different shows together this year, but I don't think I've seen a structed interview together. Therefore, this got me thinking, Who did I watch first and in what order? I think I stated with you because I've just received my third calendar. It was sometime before you did that massive country to country trip. As you know, I am severely disabled, so was naturally was drawn to TWC. We had a friend with Polio who had one. So the question going through my mind was; Why does this no-disabled man want to use a disabled three wheeler? I'm not sure, however, now I don't care. The next person was Steph. I just found her. Being into older vehicles, I just started watching and became interested. Then came came Matt. Again, I was just browsing and came across 'Fundraising' and liked it so stated watching. Then last, but not least Elton and Claire. I found UK Barn Finds through ACA. Then got 'hooked on that too. During CVD19, I came across HandH Classic Car Auctions Watched them. Loved it, then looked for more. Found ACA started watching them. Then found Manor Park classics, started watching them. Now, I think I think I watch about 6 or 7. The reason is dad took us to the auction to buy the family car. The funny thing is the cars we bought as family bangers that we kept for a year or two at the most [until they dropped to bits] are now CLASSICS! As some of you know, I type with my nose.

I had an invite to this one but had to decline due to circumstances but it looks like it was a great meet up. My brother who lives nearly 100 miles away from me (a car enthusiast from birth) did make it did spot you out and about though. Many thanks for sharing.

Having grown up just up the road in Epsom I recognized at least two of those cars, a Lotus which belonged to and old girlfriends dad and the Just Roofing van. I didn't even know this was a New Years Day event. Next year.

Very brave taking them out on winter roads here in the UK, it's not the salt this time but the flooding, great video Matt.

The little red GT at 6mins is a Unipower by some way the most attractive Mini based special.A "works" car even ran at Le Mans(can,t recall whether it finished)

Wow what a selection , I must make the effort to try and visit the Brooklands museum especially when some kind of event like this is on . A long way from Lancashire sadly .

Wish I could have been there.... I would have tried to take my 1953 A40 Somerset! My ears pricked up when I heard you say Gumdrop!! My childhood and the books by Val Biro....who lived near me here in Chesham in Buckinghamshire. Gumdrop was a favourite at fetes and local carnivals. I actually saw Gumdrop on the road about 5 years ago near me in Ashley Green..... do you know if it's still around now?

I am astonished that the Allegro estate is now considered a classic. I used to have a white, 1976, P reg. one back in the early 80s and it is, without doubt, the worst car I ever owned. And I've had some real doozies over the years. There are, however, some really great vehicles here. I loved the Hillman Husky.

Not necessarily the need for a Peugeot bike. For years all the support cars and official cars were provided by one of the main sponsors who also got their name plastered across the finish line. Used to be Pug then for years was FIAT these days its been Skoda
