L & B Spumoni Gardens on 86 st between Ave U and V has best Sicilian and spumoni ices Totonno's in Coney Island and Lucali at 575 Henry Street. If you get to Manhattan go to Sal's Pizza in Little Italy 384 Broome street, Manhattan

I'm glad to find your RU-vid channel. I'm looking forward trying to make a proper Sicilian pie. I'm also hoping it will turn out like I used to get in Oceanside like when my Sicilian step father from Canarsie used to make it and also from that pizza place that used to be in the Green Acres Mall on Sunrise Highway back in the 1960's. I sure miss those days. About the Navy Seals. My father was one of them during WWII and was on a ship that repaired destroyers damaged in combat.

That's kool man. Here in St. Louis mo we have an ITALIAN SICILIAN district called the "THE HILL" where "YOGI BERRA grew up. Great food and restraunts. Come visit it ain't BROOKLYN but I'm positive you will feel at home. Thanks for RECipe

Brooklyn is not just my birth place, its runs through my veins, only a true blue New Yorker can relate. So shout out to all my "Brooklynites/NewYorkers". Having said that, I've been searching everywhere for a good brooklyn pizza recipe but have had no luck. Its annoying how many pizza joints & ppl use "ny style pizza" to describe their garbage style pizza lol. But you my friend have officially gained a new subscriber for life so I thank you!

Brooklyn and Long Island here. Couldn't get any good pizza since I moved to SWFL 5 years ago. Started making my own. Dough from scratch San Marzanos for the gravy of course. Wanted to try some good old Brooklyn "square pie" and came across your video. Thanks Squadfather and to all the firefighters that were on the pile. RIP 343.

Over working the dough...didnt season the oil with the trinity( rosemary, oregano, garlic)...fuck a pan...cast iron skillet is the way to go...canned toms...really???...make your own fucking sauce the day before...slap and spin that shit...half semolina half flour...brick oven...what else ya wanna know???

start with a good bread flour not cake flour ,ratio of .60percent water to start ,2 percent yeast 2.5 percent salt till 3 max ,don't ever let yeast touch the salt if using fresh yeast double the amount/ for a more elastic richer dough add 2 percent olive oil or an egg yolk for every half kilo of flour.for the sauce use your imagination ,no sauce is also delish anchovies fried onions and olives that's a original pizza

I'm in Florida. Why do places say Sicilian Pizza and all they have it thick regular pizza! What you make is what I remember from Jersey.

Actually sicilians call it sfincione see when the sicilians like my family came from Sicily in the 1900s when they bought over sfincione the Americans classified it as pizza.

Love this vid. Had a question. How do you prep your sauce? Do you puree the san marzanos? Pre-cook before putting on the pizza? Add anything like oregano, basil, etc? Thanks again for the vid

Empty contents of canned tomato into blender, blend for literally 2 or 3 seconds and add salt to taste. That's it, no preheating. You could use oregano, basil, garlic or whatever you want, no hard rules really. I just made this. Since I'm at a higher altitude, 28-30 minutes did the trick (plus my oven doesn't go past 500 degrees) , but I used provolone, mozzarella, parmesan and topped it with spicy salami. Not too bad for the first time! My girlfriend thinks I used too much olive oil, but its necessary to grease the dough just as much as the pan. Oh yea, and make your own dough at home, none of that store bought shite.

Thanks dude. Yeah I actually make my sauce exactly the same, that confirms I guess I'm doing it right, ha. Of course use your own dough, pizzamaking.com has a good thread on this type of pizza as well. Made this about 4-5 times and it has come out really good, my fam and friends devour it.

love the vid mad. i grew up on Chicago pie (don't hate), but i love all good pie. so you won't get a "this ones better" argument from me. all pizza, if good, is great. i make a Brooklyn Sicllian just like yours, with the DOP San Marzonos, sliced mozz, etc. i also have some vids with the Chicago pies. lastly, love your use of "fugazi". LOL!

Where can I bought the authentic dop San marzano canned tomatoes? Seems like lots of the links online people are saying aren't authentic. AND THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I'm inspired now to make some great pizza.

I'm not from Brooklyn I'm from Philly. I say we have some damn good pizza there. Tonight I decided to try this out at home and I'm telling you I forgot about Philly and saw Jesus in heaven when I tried this. Is it too late to move to Brooklyn............

Squadfather, Great looking pizza. I want to make a perfect Sicilian pizza for my family to teach them how much better a Sicilian pizza is over the local delivery. IMHO. I'm upstate NY. I want to add pepperoni , sausage and banana peppers. The order you add the cheese seems to make a difference so I was wondering, which comes first the grated cheese or the topping I want to add. is your sauce (gravy) simply the crushed tomatoes or do you have some seasonings that go into the tomatoes? to create the gravy

lodcomm san marzano tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano..garlic first about 6 cloves lightly browned in oil, not burnt, then remove then get one small can of good tomato paste add 1/4 cup of water and mix together then cook for two minutes in oil, low flame, add tomatoes. For the pizza gravy i like to ground them or crush for a smooth gravy..bring to boil..then lower flame to low simmer for couple hours, partially covered...then if you made a big batch you can use fresh or freeze..enjoy and thanks for watching

The best , if you can fund it is Grande Mozzarella. They only sell to restaurants. I use Supremo Italiano Mozzarella, i get the whole block. I get it from Restaurant Depot. They also have the DOP San Marzano Tomatoes there. Thanks for viewing

What Spices,? Did you add into those Tomatoes to make that Pizza Gravy Sauce.? You did not say the Recipe for it, Thanks for sharing your Great Sicilian Recipe.

Basic Pizza sauce, I use garlic in oil to start, don't burn them, once brown, discard them, small can of great tomato paste with 1/4 cup of water stir in for two minutes, add San Marzano tomatoes, add oregano, salt, pepper, (if you want a little bite, add crushed red pepper too). You can hand crush tomatoes or smooth out with immersible hand blender. Bring to boil, stir, and heat down to simmer very low, 2-3 hours max. Use or freeze! Enjoy and thanks for viewing and comments.

Well, I just found this video and I couldn't be more thrilled. Beautiful NY style Sicilian pizza. As an ex-pat New Yorker, I miss the pizza so much and this looks incredible. Thanks for the comments Mike but it was mentioned and it was put on the screen during the video. 450-475 for 12-20 min depending on your oven. I do 475 for 12 min.
