Thanks for including the info comparing the stack height of the new shoe to that of the Hyperion Max v1. That is exactly one thing I've been wondering about. I love the Hyperion Max v1 and I'm wondering whether to buy another pair before they are gone or not. The thing I really dislike about the new Hyperion Max 2 is the significant increase in weight. However, the Hyperion 2 is even lighter than the Hyperion Max v1, it appears to have the same stack height as the Hyperion Max v1, and it has the improved foam. It's looking like the Hyperion 2 would be a good replacement for the Hyperion Max v1.
It is not as stable, but is noticeably softer and more responsive. It's killing my ankles, but if you find it stable, it is great for easy and speed work. I put 450km on the Max, but only have 30km on the the Hyperion 2.
The Hyperion 2 IS the Hyperion Max just a tad softer maybe about 5-10%. It’s snappier too. It is the successor. I don’t know why they put a nylon plate on that Max 2 but I don’t think it needed a plate. I guess just to differentiate it. Brooks foams are quite firm. If it was PEBA blend then yes put a nylon plate. But it’s just nitrogen infused EVA. I’m going to wait for the Max 3.
I’m looking for a new lightweight daily trainer to replace my saucony Kinvara 14s (podiatrist recommended a higher heel drop to help a calf issue I have). I’m between this shoe and the launch 10. Thoughts?
@@robbo2099 I have a pair and they work really well for long ez to recovery runs, great stability with the gts I can not run any faster in them than z2 so ez to recovery are amazing everything else is pretty bad. They break in really nice around 20-30miles. Sure the foam isn’t the softest but it is extremely comfortable and the longer the run the softer they get
@@robbo2099i also prefer them for long runs over my nike invincible 3s for the firm softness and slight rocker works better for those type of runs, where as the nikes they transition in a way that makes me want to run faster
I don't know if you already got your answer some other way, but I don't overpronate and had difficulties with this shoe. My foot just wants to ride the medial side of the shoe the entire time and it's killing my ankles. I also got some pain on the outer side of my right knee. I feel like the shoe is leaning in the entire time. Why this is the case I don't know. If you are still interested I'd be looking into the GTS version which appears to be essentially the same except for some firmer foam support bars and some filled in outsole on medial side of the forefoot. I wish I had looked at the GTS version as I'm going to have to stop running in the them. Otherwise, I agree with everything in Matt's review. The shoe is fantastic in all other areas. I just can't wear it. I had no such issues in the original Hyperion Max. I put 450km on them. I have to make it clear that the updated foam is far superior to the foam on the Max. Much more forgiving and more responsive at the same time. It feels great.
