Thank you so much for this simple fix. You would not believe the lengths I have gone to trying to fix this issue. You probably saved my sewing machines life and me having to relearn a new one.
You’re a LIFESAVER!!! I thought I was going to totally give up on my project for tonight. But I am so glad I did a search and found your video. Everything stitched out beautifully! Thank You!!!
You have no idea how happy this video has made me!!! I cleaned tension disks and bobbin area, changed bobbins, turned my machine off and on and felt like crying lol. Thank you so much!
Gee, this video is 2yrs old, and yet the lesson is timeless! You presented the solution simply and quickly, and your tips fixed my “check upper thread” issue. I hope every ‘thank you’ adds a smile to your day! Thank you!
Amazing! I was at my wits end with this! Retreading, starting and stopping and cursing the sewing gods! Cleaned the area (it wasn’t even that fluffy!) and had to poke at the little hook from the front like you said and now it’s going well again! Oh Brother why do these machines have to test us soo!!! Thank you x x
I lost an hour of my day trying to figure out what the problem was when I was receiving the Check Upper Thread message. I changed the brand of thread, I changed the needle, cleaned the bobbin area and then before I gave up I checked RU-vid. There you were with the solution! Thank you so much for posting this! The hook was my issue and now I'm back in business!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video based on what I saw in your video, I noticed that my thread hook was moved to the wrong side of the partition on my machine and would no longer catch the thread after I removed some shredded thread. I was able to move it back into place and the machine (Brother Luminaire XP3) is working well again. You are a lifesaver!
This is a god send! I have a Quattro2, and the cover doesn’t just pull off like yours. There is a small round plug at the end of the machine that has a tiny opening at the bottom. I used my iPhone sim tool to remove the plug and there is a screw in there. There is also another screw behind a little trap door on the cover of the machine towards the back. Once you remove these two screws the cover comes off (with a little bit of wiggling). I had some fluff caught on the spring, which was still tricky to remove, but I managed to clear it all with tweezers and a paint brush. I was a little disappointed as the machine was still playing up when I first started it up again, but I rethreaded it from scratch and it went like a dream. Thank you so much! This video probably just saved me a couple of hundred dollars. 👏👏👏👏
3 years later and your video saved me loads of frustration. Thank you so much. Brand new machine, on its fourth use, had some thread breakage than repeated “Check upper thread and rethread” errors. It was the little hook. Slightly out of alignment from a particularly bad thread break.
Thank you so much for saving me time, more frustration, and a bigger headache. I was totally thinking that I had broke my sewing machine. I couldn't find how to correct it in the manual, You are definitely a lifesaver. Thank you for taking the time to post this video. Much appreciated.
What a lifehack! I fiddles with my machine for a while, cleaning and oiling it, and nothing helped. But getting rid of that tiny hack in the plastic was all that was needed to fix the problem! I didn't file it down, just placed a tiny piece of tape on it. Thank you So So Much!
Wow! You're a darling and a lifesaver!! I have been searching videos to know how to solve this problem and all have been saying it's the spring...you're the only one I have seen and heard mention the nudge from the silver. Mine was actually that the thread was catching catching around the plastic arm on number 3. Thanks for this video that have saved me from several months of finding solution to this.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My machine hasn’t worked in months and I tried some other fixes that didn’t work. Your video was so clear and yes I had a big piece of fuzz on that hook. I’m now listening to the beautiful sound of non stop embroidery without an expensive visit to the shop.
I can't see any fluff, not sure where the hook should be lol it's to the left of the groove on front not in it like the video so assuming it's OK Not sure where to file either It's not been used since i purchased it n need to sell it ASAP 😢
Saved my project! All I had to do was take it off, look at that hook and make sure the thread went around it and poof its sewing again. Thank you for making this!
I'm so glad I found this. My machine has been doing this a lot recently and yours is the only video to give actual help on how to fix it. Thank you for making it and keeping it up!
Holy Cannoli!!!!!!! That darn little sliver, why is it even there, just so we can take it in for repair??? Thank you so much I fixed it, so frustrating, now it's perfect thanks to you!!!
Thank you so much for that wonderful tip? Ive been so frustrated for couple of weeks now, opened my machines a few times, cleaned it, oiled it, still nothing worked. I took your tip and filed that little notch down, put it back together, and it worked!!!! Thank you so much1
I just got my machine back from being serviced & this happened - that dreaded error message. I was so mad!!! Problem #2 was the culprit, thank you so much!!!! Now fixed & sewing like a dream again :)
I love this video!!! I moved to this city last year and the number 3 piece just broked, and after that I did used the machine for a while and it turns out to work just fine. But recently when I use it, it always shows "Check and rethread upper thread". I checked the manual and ofc that didn't work. I felt so sad because this machine had been with me for many years. I know it still works but I just don't know what went wrong. So I turned to YT for help. ANd yES! This video is just what I need! It turns out that the upper thread didn't hook in to the hooker, because that number 3 piece was broken and it was meant to direct the thread into the hooker! Now I am so happy to know that my old machine still works!
Thank you for saving my sanity. I honestly could not work out what i’d done wrong but it was just my hook had moved. And these always happen when you are close to the end of something. Again huge thank you.
You're amazing. THANK YOU. I was working on a big order of personalized baby bibs for my shop when my SE600 decided to act up and send me into panic mode.
Thank you…you’re a life saver. I had the same problem on my xj1 today. I had it apart three times & cleaned it….finally saw the hook was dislodged. I ever so gently touched and it flicked back in place. I will know what to do in the future. Once again…thank you so much ❤
Thank you for this video!! I was in the middle of a project when my Luminaire did this. Your video saved me from taking my machine in to find this fix.
This!! I've been having this issue with my Brother SE600 and been so frustrated... at first I didn't think this was my issue as there was no snaggy plastic and no obvious lint on my uptake spring, but I just kept brushing around the area and vacuumed some of the lint out of this top section and now my machine is good! All that to say the lint you have to remove may be infinitesimally small. Good luck, sewists!
So my Brother SE600 was having the "rethread" error as well and this video lead me to the culprit and helped tremendously! My thread was catching around the plastic arm between the number 3 and the plastic housing for the LED light and causing tension issues but not actually breaking the thread. Thank you for sharing!
se600 for me, fixed it by disassembling. that little spring you're dusting where the thread loops into controls a black cylinder. that cylinder has a "tab" that covers and uncovers an optical sensor. that sensor can sometimes get dusty, spray it with canned air (only spray this area, not the rest of the machine). even though i saw no visible debris, lint, old thread, dirt (fuzz?) the sensor was indeed dirty and dusting it fixed it. silly me reassembled and noticed it was working, however, i inadvertently knocked the tension discs out of place and had to go back and push them back into place. what a headache... at least things work now.
Thank you. I had put my embroidery machine up. I decided to take it out and try This and it worked. My problem was that the thread wasn't hooked around that hook. RHANKS A MILLION
Thank you for this only video in cyber space...I just got my machine and keep getting that message....I watched a million videos on how to thread thinking I was doing something wrong and grrrrrr......gonna try this tomorrow....thanks for the help
Thank you so much! I’m going to check now. I just installed a new needle and it keeps breaking and I’m finding thread very hard to get into the #6 step of threading my machine. It doesn’t want to go in that spot 😡. I’m down to the wire making my grandson a Halloween bag and beyond frustrated. Thank you!!
I'm setting mine up for the first time and can't get into the menu on the screen and have this light - found your video and saved it. I'm sure I will run into this eventually too!
Thank you so much, Sarah!! Your solution was dead on! I also had to bend the little hook so thank you for pointing that out (it wasn’t catching). THANK YOU!
This must be a defective in the mold my SE 600 was in the shop after 12 months of use… then it had surgery a new chip installed- now the error is back omg I thought I was going to lose my mind- it has to be a cast mold issue because of the amount of people have the same issue makes me more confident about file off the beep shark took that has been stop my machine all beep afternoon thank you so much for this video
Wow I have the SE600 too and have been looking at this issue... i didn't realize it was our machine specifically! So to clarify - did this fix solve the problem for you fully? I'm scared to take my machine into the authorized dealer an hour away and with a $200 servicing fee...
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That place where you had to file down was my problem!!!! Up and running again!!!! Christmas presents are saved!!!!! Whoo... Hoooo... ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Just a quick FYI. Instead of trying to get the scissors in the tiny opening, the cover with the #3 will snap off and on very easily. Just give it a little push up
Thank you so much for this video! I could not find anything close to what I needed. This video is exactly what I was having a problem with and you solved it for me! Thank you again!
I got the se600 from my daughters as Christmas gift. I tested the patterns already set in my machine and the embroidery design came out great. Now that I made mine own design, now I keep getting the tread break. I tried changing the tension from 0 to 9 and it breaks. I don’t know what’s going on. Please help.
lol i got worried some sensor broke after i tried cleaning it, come to find out the thread just slipped out of the little arm thinger, starting to like these little machines ease of use
I have a brother se600. I'm using the embroidery. Can you help me. I have everything in the right place, but when I push the green start button nothing happens. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Pls help!!! Brother Pe800 saying that u need to rethread your upper thread and i followed your advices, but still upper thread can not work :( pls help ~ how to fix it?
