Hello Mary. You must use the ribbon made for the machine and I don't think I've seen any cotton ribbon. Good question about the washability as I'm not sure about that either but I don't see why. Blessings...

Accidentally deleted your reply. All I did was put in what I wanted on my ribbon. Didn't cut it. All I did was press print again 4 times. I put it around a Dollar Tree candle holder jar lid for a family reunion. They have an auction to help pay for food.
Stephanie, I'm sorry I don't think I understand your question. But if it is what I think I learned by trial and error. The machine tells you the size of your label so I played around with different sizes. Hope this makes sense. In a future video I will address this. Blessings...

You probably won't see this since it is years after you made the video but I wanted to let you know that you don't have to hold button down to make capital letters you can push the caps button which is above the shift button to do that😂
