Fun video and cute box. To me you are the Queen of ScanNCut. I have no doubt you will be making wonderful things with this new machine in no time. Thanks, Susan
Great video Kim! I have my DX for maybe 6 months and I had no problems with my mat until about 2 weeks ago but just the one time. I have always loaded my mat as I do on my Cricut. You do need to use the guides on the DX and then I lift the back of the mat up just a little and then push the load button. I have always had success that way except for once and that time I think I was just in to much of a hurry. Thanks Kim as you go forward with the DX I will be watching and learning more from you. Happy Crafting Kim!!!!!
You and Patty both gave me the same tip about the tilting of the mat. I never have to do that with my other ScanNCuts and I will take the advice of my viewers because I am wasting a lot of time loading the mat 5 times. I am also afraid that the mat will get all bent up one of these times. It goes flying into the machine and turns so quickly that I can't even stop it. I am like "Oh no, not $30 down the drain...." Thanks for sticking with me.
@@PaperedChef Always Kim! I panic too brother gets to much money for their mats. The machine should take your mat in slowly at the beginning. Not sure why it is taking your mat in so quickly. Patience my friend :-) you will get use to this machine, your a pro I learn from you!
I’m guessing the lever helps hold the mat in place when cutting intricate designs. Either way, it worked so I’m happy with my little boxes. Thanks for your feedback.
Can’t thank, you enough for these videos- I’ve had a scAN n cut sdx1200 (uk) since February and for the first time I feel a bit more confident with this machine. Thank you so much.
Awww, this is great because as I gain confidence, so do my viewers. I am glad and I hope you try this project soon with the lone piece of cardstock that came with the machine.
Diane, does Melanie Heaton do any videos in the UK? She originally brought the SNC there on Create & Craft. She's extremely knowledgeable too. I'm loving Kim's videos!
Good job. Looks like everything is going much smoother for you today. I like the fact that your mom suggested reading the directions and I also agree with you that you don’t need to read everything being you’ve been operation one of these for a long time. Looking forward to learning it with you.
Pat Smith Thanks Pat! It is behaving so far today. I’m off doing another project for my Mom who made doll clothes to sell on Etsy. She doesn’t use the Internet so I’m taking pictures and posting them for her. I will hopefully get back to my ScanNCut soon.
I have had my since the end of Oct, haven't used that much, but it does a great job of cutting detailed cuts. And I love you tutorials, even though they were on a different model then the DX, I have learned a lot from you. And you are a Stamp n up gal, that even makes it more fun to watch you. THANKS Leanna from Kansas
Thanks Leanna, I love using Stampin' Up! products with the Brother ScanNCut. It gives me the best of both worlds. I will love cutting vinyl and doing detailed cuts. I can't wait to try it out along with loads of other materials.
@@PaperedChef You will be hearing from me in the next fews months, we are moving in Sept so not to much computer time for a while, will want to talk to you about Stamp n up and Scan and Cut.
Leanna Mohr Sure thing. There is a contact form on my Stampin’ Up! web site so whenever you want to reach out, you can first contact me here: PaperedChef.stampinup.net
Yes, I will absolutely teach more with it as soon as I get it working correctly. I have 2 major issues now and already went back to using my ScanNCut2. Good thing Brother is sending me a new mat.
Your video was fun and your box is so cute!! It will be fun going on your BSNCSDX125 adventure. Glad you are happy with your project and having fun with you on your exploration!! YOU SO ROCK!! joan Smith
This was a great tutorial. That is a very cute little box. I have all the faith in the world that you will "master" this machine just like the other one. I was thinking that maybe if you put a towel underneath it it would let it slide back and forth better. Maybe if that table cloth was off the table it would help with the sliding. Just a thought. Excited to see what you do next with all the new features. Thanks!!!
Thanks Debbie, I asked my neighbors if I could borrow a plastic table from them. That way, I will not ruin my dining room table with this heavy machine.
@@PaperedChef but you are so good at it! i got it the first time hsn had it, but i was thinking on going back to de 350, but im trying to use it more and more, my biggest problem is the mat not loading correctly everytime, sometimes with the upgrade, it gets fixed a couple of weeks then it goes back to not loading the mat.i spend so much money buying new mats, brother sent me a cortesy one because i called almost every single day! lol
I’m glad it is not just me. This machine is nothing like my previous two which both worked perfectly right out of the box. We will prevail. Thanks for watching and for letting me know that I’m not alone.
Wandy's Sweets my mat stopped working all together and I sent a video to brother and they said I have to buy a new mat. Mats dated from June, July 2018 are having problems. The dots on the bottom right of your mat tell you the month. I have a new mat now dated Aug...working so far. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Great video - thank you! I am a newbie, I just go my new Brother Scan N Cut SDX 1200 yesterday! I am having trouble with it not cutting, do you have a video of how to set up your machine? Everything works fine, it just isn't cutting out. I am thinking it has something to do with the blade, and maybe it isn't inserted correctly, or something else. Many thanks for a great video! It was fun to watch - stay well:-)
This was my beginner video and you shouldn't have to do anything else to make it cut. If you want to check your blade and holder, here is a video I did about sharpening the blade. You don't need to sharpen a new blade but you will know if your holder is shut. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tjuhKAsURIc.html
Thanks Patty, I will try that after my next go around. I just did a firmware update because I kept getting network errors when trying to connect to my wireless network. Hopefully, that fixes my mat loading issue too.
Can you create your own designs? Are there different colored canvass' ex one with an outdoor adhesive on the back, where you can adere the finished product to a plastic surface?
Great realistic video, did you find out what the purple card stock is that is supplied with the machine? I really would like to purchase more of it as I really liked it. I have watched a number of your videos and you do a great job - thank you
Tricia, I also love ❤️ that cardstock because it doesn’t stick to a new mat. I couldn’t find it in the Brother Mall. I guess it is not for individual resale. I could only find vinyl. It is OK because I have enough Stampin’ Up! card stock to last me a lifetime. Thanks for your comment.
The machine is SOOOOO HEAVY! I had no idea it would PLUNK so hard and right next to my microphone. I am afraid to ruin my table so my neighbors are going to let me borrow a plastic folding table. Right now, I have no Craft Room so I am working with what I have.
Mary Jane Rendon I didn’t even see the suction cups. One more hurdle for me. I will be moving to a plastic folding table soon so maybe it can stay put. Thanks!
@@PaperedChef If my machine has suction cups they don't work. I slide mine on my table when I use it as right now I don't have the right size table for it and have to turn it on the table the long ways so the mat will have room to feed through.
I’m planning on buying a scan n cut and can’t decide if I should get a CM350 or an SDX125. I will be using it mostly for the scan and cut feature...do you have any opinions?
Melinda, So far, my initial impressions of the SDX125 are that I love the extra storage, colored screen, and tray in the back to catch the mat. I like the Autoblade technology and the fact that it is very quiet. The machine is very large and heavy which will probably keep it from slipping. As someone who teaches with it and has to move it around a lot, that is not very convenient. Those were my pros. Now for the cons. I think Brother could have added more graphics. After my initial research, Brother claims to have 1300+ images build into the machine. I didn't see a lot of extra categories so I will search for them again and comment on this in a later video. Also, Brother didn't make the screen larger which would have been a good improvement. I don't understand why they moved some settings and menu items as well. At this very point in time, I would get a CM350 if you just want to work with paper and cut out stamped images, shapes, scan and cut patterns, etc. Here is a link. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
I don’t have the mat loading problems. I have an Auto Blade that is not auto. When I did the demo box, it almost cut through my mat. I have had to set it internally to -6 for 80 lb cardstock. I have to adjust for different paper. I called Brother but they had no solution
Well as I am making these videos, my viewers are sharing so many issues that they have had. Sorry to hear that. I am surprised Brother couldn't help you because they have helped me in the past and they have good customer service I guess that my mat taking 5 times to load is a lot better than not having an Autoblade. That would be very frustrating because I purchased the ScanNCut because of the Autoblade. I am counting my blessings that that aspect of my machine works but all aspects of the machine should work.
You may be having the "mat" problem that starts happening. Count the dots on on your mat at the end of the mat. The bad mats have 8 and 7. Mine worked great the first 30 or so times. Then started loading wonky. I called and they sent me a new mat. Hopefully it will continue to work.
Oh yes, I had that problem for sure. They sent me a new mat. It works great. Well, the mat loading works great. Other aspects of the machine don’t work as well.
Well, I’m glad I’m not alone because I’m actually holding it there and helping it. The mat still will not go in straight. I just did an update and so I’m hoping some or all of my issues go away.
@@PaperedChef i called brother so many times, they said its fixed, but is not, one time on the phone with brother, i took 18 times to be able to load the mat, its frustrating.
You've got a roller release level in the tool storage under the screen. Just loosen the lever to remove the mat. I have not had any of the problems you're showing in loading my mats. But you don't actually SHOW us how you're encountering these loading errors. For all we know it could be user error.
If you are going to unbox and teach shouldn’t you follow every instruction? Also flopping the machine down on the table probably doesn’t help. Good job following instructions.
Well, I can't please everyone. My style is not to read instructions at all. I was just doing that for the welcome project. The way I learned how to operate my other two models of ScanNCut machines was by using it for my everyday crafting projects. That is what I plan on doing again this time. I create projects. Then, I show my viewers how I did it. Then, I show my finished cards, craft fair projects or gifts at the end of my videos. I hope you will check some of them out. I just opened and started using THIS machine yesterday. I am still setting it up.
Papered Chef I am so sorry if I said something to hurt your feelings. It was just a question. You are doing this for free so you don’t have to please anyone. I have been watching your videos and have learned a lot. It was just a question. Sorry I won’t ask anymore questions I will just watch. Have a good day.
Cropindimples Please ask questions. Just understand that several comments from the last video were suggesting that I read the instructions so I did and then you said I shouldn’t read them. I’m just stating that I can’t please everyone. Im not offended because this is volunteer work like you said. Im sharing as I go. I’m doing the best that I can considering I just opened it up yesterday. I’m happy with my progress so far because the machine is behaving better today.
