I saved it as a fcm. file on my computer and when I opened it in a new window the lines and circles have gone. So I guess once saved they disappear . Thank you Brother!! About time we can do this feature on our work space. SOOOOO HAPPY!

Oh yes! Please give it a try. Before this update, we would have to curve text in another program like Inkscape. This update makes it easier for all of us!

Donna Jo Yes, you can only curve text and work with fonts from your computer using the desktop version. Stay tuned because Brother is working out some bugs on their new release.

The update was only available for one day and now it’s gone. Brother is working on it and I’ll let you know when it’s back up by publishing another tutorial.

I have a question for you. I just got my scan and cut for Christmas and have trying to figure it out. Took one of your tutorials, which helped some. Tonight, I just figured out how to get into the right canvas Workspace! Anyway, how to you know what size something is? Or will you let you know once you move it to your machine?
Mary, thanks for watching. Welcome to the ScanNCut world. You can use the grid lines on the mat which are one inch apart to eyeball 👁 it or you can precisely change the size of any object by changing its properties. You can even edit the size on the screen. Kim
Right after I created this video, Brother took down the update to work out bugs. I’ll do another tutorial when they release it again. It was up for only a day and a bunch of us were able to download it before they took away the updates.
Hi, I ended up calling the customer service at Brothers and they told me that version isn't on their web site yet and we can't get it. I work from the web version of Canvas. I tried to download it to my computer but got stuck on that as well. I'll try again later. Not sure why you were able to get it and we are having issues. Thanks. Great tutorial by the way :)
Susan, trust me. I don’t have any special connections. I just had good timing and I was able to download it before they took it down. It should’ve back soon. Then, you can play too.
Was wondering , in the online version Canvasworkspace any way to do folder. I have about 800 designs now and would like to put them in some type of order like-, HOLIDAY, VINYL, PAPER PROJECT since I have saved everything into canvas online I no longer have files or folder on my PC
Mary Lynn, I didn't think so but I had to go make sure. There is not a way to make folders with the online version. I was like WOW, I have a lot of files. At least they are easy to see when you use the thumb nail view. You can use the installed version (PC version) but then you need to create folders on your computer to save them to. That means that you would have to save them to your computer, then put them in folders. In other words, either create folders while saving them inside of the PC version OR save the files from your online version to your computer. Then, create folders to organize them.
I love this new feature and tried a design but for some reason it will not export to my brothers sdx and everything is updated. I even connected my laptop and nope nadda nothing :(
Check that your design is set to DRAW and not CUT. There are little icons to indicate which. The little pen is the drawing icon and the little knife is the cutting one.
Was so excited to try this went straight to canvas. I could not find that option? Went to support to see if I missed a download, they say it was automatic.....confused. I have a sdx225. I’ll just call them. Wanted to know if others experienced this?
Hamideh, downloads to your PC are never automatic from Brother. You have to download and manually install all software. The web based version is updated automatically. However, you can't access any fonts on your computer using the web based version. Also, if you have a Mac, the update isn't available according to my viewers with Macs.

I have read all the comments and tried all the solutions. I have a CM350. Last update available is 2.2 and I have downloaded that. No 2.3 available. So sorry this didn't work for me.

Cathie, this is one time where it had nothing to do with model or country. Soon after I published this tutorial, Brother took down the update to fix bugs. It should be back soon. It works for me (still) because I didn’t uninstall it.
Many thanks for this tutorial. However, I do not see to have the Fit to Path option under File in either my PC or MAC versions of Canvas. I have confirmed that I am using the most up to date versions. Can you give me any advice. I am using the downloaded versions which makes me wonder if this function is only available on the online version? Many thanks in advance.

After downloading the latest version of Canvas Workspace, Canvas Workspace does not allow me to do this as when I select both a half circle and text the menu option Fit to Path does not show up in my edit menu. I have a SDX 125 and my computer is a PC with Windows 10.
Did you install the latest version after you downloaded it? Then, did you open it from the icon on your desktop and then log in again? If not, you are still using the older version. Let me know.
When i go to the Help menu and check for the latest version I get back that I have the latest version. I am wondering if you also have any add ons for Canvas Workspace as I do not.

I would like to make a statement curve around a circle but have the words be upright. Would I have to do two lines and fiT to path on both halves, then merge... I want to make a wedding gift. Thanks for your assistance.
Hi Evelyn, I missed your question before. You would create the top half and bottom half separately so that you can make both parts upright. I’m sure you experimented and figured it out.
Hi Pampered Chef, I ordered a Scan N Cut SDX 125 about a week ago and have been watching your tutorials in anticipation of my machines arrival. It came yesterday and I just had my first chance to unbox it and set it up. Bad news ! I couldn’t get to step #3 before I had an error message that stopped me in my tracks. “Feed lever unlocked - lock and press OK”. Followed the instructions but the message remained. Went to FAQ/ troubleshooting ... turn machine off then on again and repeat the process ... nothing. The machine won’t recognize that the lever is locked. I made it thru two steps - plug in the machine and turn it on. I’m incredibly disappointed ! Is this what I have to look forward to ? Do you have any suggestions ? Brothers 24/7 customer service is closed until 9 AM tomorrow, lol ! I’d appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thanks.
I’m very sorry to hear this. I’ve had loads of errors but not this one. I wouldn’t keep trying until you call them because you will frustrate yourself to no end. I had to send my SDX125 back due to 3 major problems, only one that tech support could fix. My replacement machine worked like a charm. If they can’t get it to work over the phone, then ask them for instructions on how to get a replacement. Hopefully it will work soon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I have a bad feeling about this - I don’t think customer service will be able to help me so I’m going to have to return the machine. So much for my $400 + investment. Now that I’ve read about the numerous issues with this machine, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. 😢
Carrie McSorley There is a way to reset your machine back to the manufacturer’s setting. They may be able to do that so that the error goes away. If not, you are right. No you see why I never got rid of my old machines despite multiple offers to buy them.
You guys, the feed lock lever is super simple. It's part of the roll feeder. You simply click it with your finger to lock it. You can watch my video on using the roll feeder to see what I mean. Also, I don't know why you would assume Customer Service can't help you without even asking?
Balzer Designs Carries does have the lever locked. It just keeps giving her the error that it is unlocked. I have faith in tech support because they have helped me many times in the past, even calling me back. My advice was to stop messing with the lever lock until she called tech support.
The feature will work but it’s just that Brother took down the update soon after a few of us downloaded it. Once they fix some bugs, it will be back up.
Lolo, You may be using the web based version and not the downloaded version. Be sure to go to support.brother.com and get the version that you install on your computer instead of the one you access from the web. That is just one reason it may not work but there are others. Let's start there.
I tried to do this alongside you but I can't. My edit dropdown does not contain anything about path. I've selected my shape and did my text and then selected them both but when I went to edit - what I needed was not there. I have the DSX 125. When I checked for workspace updates, it said I had the latest. Please help. I even did the last part with support.brother.com, but the January download wasn't listed.
Edith, go to the Help menu, About Brother CanvasWorkspace. Make sure you have version 2.3.0. If not, download and install it on your PC. If you have a Mac, the update is not available.

It is automatically there as explained here. However, if you are looking at your version and it’s different, it may be because you are using the Web Based version instead of the PC Based version. Are you opening your version up from a web browser?

Yes, bummer. I keep checking and the interesting thing is that the message keeps saying there is an update still pops up but then when you click on the link Brother provides, the download isn’t there.
