Increasing urbanisation, reductions in natural habitats, and lifestyle changes have resulted in people spending less time in natural environments. Professor Hartig will explore the evidence behind the claims of the benefits of experience in nature for health and well-being. He will focus on psychological restoration and stress reduction and discuss the benefits of access to green space on various health outcomes. Finally, he will conclude with some comments on practical applications in urban design and planning.
