Jesus was not an Englishman. Of course, depicting Jesus as white was natural in the West, but a white Jesus and a white Church were then used to exploit other cultures, all in the name of God. But we are learning. Yes, we can unlearn racism, and we can learn new things from others.
In Australia this week, we celebrate our Aboriginal and Islander peoples, who have been here for 65,000 years. We celebrate the richness of their cultures. We celebrate their spirituality, their sense of community, and their wisdom.
