You could put the upper in a oven and freeze the barrel and it would fit perfectly with no machining required!
@yrsued
@yrsued Год назад
Again, this is the way we did it!! It's already done, so... I froze a barrel, but it was already going in tight, but the difference wasn't this much. So, it's done, it's fit and finished!!

☝The Ruger's trigger will allow for dry fires hold the sear back then pull the trigger ,it's the same flaw that will permit a unchambered round to be fired .just try it without any ammunition in the rifle , some Remington bullets might get caught chambering a round so be careful wear shooting glasses and hearing protection !🙈🙉👌👊👍😎

I want to get me one of those, but sold out of course! Lol looks good! He could’ve used a torch as another way to fit your barrel, but this was quicker as you don’t have to wait for it to cool off and no worries about heat treat issues if done improperly. We need to get you some new shirts Yamil!

I really want a decent 22 handgun to shoot alot more. I like the volqoersten or whatever they're called but they're pricey. I don't really have that much to spend and on a 22 makes it harder

Ruger 22/45, Taurus TX22, there's tons of them out there!! How big?? Budget??
@dcooper91g

Wouldnt heating the receiver a little work without sanding?
@yrsued
@yrsued Год назад
Nope!! Not with this much of a difference!! Tactical Solutions recommends sanding and their barrels are anodized aluminum, they still say sanding, by hand too!!

I figured Cooling the barrel and heating the receiver would’ve worked…
@yrsued
@yrsued Год назад
@@Jrojan According to Gunsmiths, the difference in here was too big to do that! I have the resources to do a GOOD Build, so I did, not half assed. I trust Marty and his experience.

Barrel fitting, I saw using torch lightly on brn to achieve fit. What do you think about it?
@yrsued
@yrsued Год назад
Well, I trust Marty, a working Gunsmith with years of experience over someone with a Torch and little or no common sense!!
@orion14701
@orion14701 10 месяцев назад
why dont you use heat to get an interferance fit
@yrsued
@yrsued 10 месяцев назад
Because we decided to go with the procedure prescribed by Tactical Solutions on their packaging, which is to fit the barrel to the Receiver. The difference between the barrel and the receiver was 5 Thousands of an inch, wich it would have been too hard to freeze the barrel and or heat the frame, I don't wan to heat an aluminum Frame so much that might warp the part, I don't want to change the metallurgy of the barrel either, this way is done the fastest and safest way for a tight fit. IF the difference was smaller, like when I installed the thing Brownells barrel on the other BRN-22 receiver, I froze the barrel and slowly fit the barrel to the receiver with a little oil, it worked fine, we did a Video about that years ago. I was my choice to do it this way
@user-fh4je7hx8h
@user-fh4je7hx8h 8 месяцев назад
Put the reciever in the oven @ 200 and the barrel in the freezer till frozen then lightly tap together.
@yrsued
@yrsued 8 месяцев назад
That works for 1-3 Thousands, I have done it several times. It is very difficult when the difference is over 6 thousands. Tactical Solutions tells you to sand the anodizing off the barrel shank!!
@ronchristle1125
@ronchristle1125 Год назад
Just heat the receiver up with a heat gun
@yrsued
@yrsued Год назад
Too late, the gun is finished You can freeze the barrel too, like I did on the other one, but the other one was closer than this one.

@yrsued

THe Receiver fit another barrel, but not this 6 year old barrel.
@bobcat5844
@bobcat5844 4 месяца назад
3:31 cant you just heat up the aluminum ?
@yrsued
@yrsued 4 месяца назад
You could, you could also freeze the barrel. But with a dimensional difference of 5 Thousands, you might encounter lots of difficulties and when they go back to room temperatures, what then?? What if you needed to remove the barrel? You can't heat one and cool the other... This is how Tactical Solutions shows on their videos and Manuals for fitting barrels to receivers. This gives you a perfect fit and if you need to take them apart, you won't have to struggle.
@bobcat5844
@bobcat5844 4 месяца назад
@@yrsued If you want to remove it, just heat up the aluminum again. ive done it many times with my BCM upper and barrel. You don't need to freeze the barrel to remove it if you heat-fit the upper to the barrel together. But you do you; you want to cut martial off, do it.
@yrsued
@yrsued 4 месяца назад
@@bobcat5844 Good for you, we went custom and took all of 5 minutes to do and we followed the directions from TacSol. FYI, this is NOT the first time w've done this. Marty is very qualified and this is just ONE WAY to do it.

That comb is too low for a red dot.
@yrsued
@yrsued 2 года назад
It all depends on the Red Dot. The Aimpoint T1 works great on this rifle and is lower than any ring out there.. Now I have a Micro Dot on it, which is even lower. This is NOT a Competition Rifle, it was NEVER meant to be, this is a Plinker for fun at the range.
@goosecouple
@goosecouple 2 года назад
@@yrsued Yup. Good idea to use a lower red dot.
@yrsued
@yrsued 2 года назад
@@goosecouple There was NOTHING wrong with the T1, I just needed it for another Project. The Micro Dot was here and I used it!!
@Abyssdiver
@Abyssdiver 2 месяца назад
You should have put the barrel in the freezer and the receiver in the oven at 400 then assembled them. The result would have been a compression fit that would be more reliable as well better accuracy.... This also would be a better way of showing the general public how to get it done without the use of a lathe.
@yrsued
@yrsued 2 месяца назад
I wish folks would read other comments, this has been answered over and over and OVER again!! The difference was over FIVE THOUSANDS!!!! We tried that and found it a pain to do and still had to hand fit!! Tactical Solutions tells the user to SAND THE BARREL and REMOVE the Anodizing in order to fit the barrel!! This is better than having a customer start fitting the barrel and galling it together and ruin both parts!!

Putting a $900 optic on a 10/22 :)

When I got this, almost 10 years ago, this was NOT even close to $900!!! This is an old H1, they do retail for about $400 new. No, I don't put shit optics on my rifles!! You get what you pay for. And, this is NOT a 10/22, no Ruger parts on it, well, yes, pins and screws...
