Decided to turn on the camera was I disassembled and cleaned out a factory new Browning SA-22 rifle in 22 LR. A stupidly simple design from 1914 that puts a lot of 22 rimfires to shame.
Always great to see a browning 22 Auto. Just a thought, if you put a finger on the trigger guard and pull the boat back about halfway with your phone it comes up much easier. Thanks for making the video on this really helpful.
They're beautifully made rifles. The downside is that the attention to detail used to build them makes them pretty expensive compared to the more popular 22 autos available.
@@professorpewpuew The 10/22 is an easy one to disassemble/reassemble. It doesnt have the beauty of the Browning though. The deep polished blue and well finished stock of the Browning wins the looks department every time. The 10/22 I built is ridiculously accurate but there's just something about the trim gracefull Browning that is difficult to replicate today
What is a better, a new Made in Japan riffle, or a used Made in Belguin riffle?? I am wanting to buy one , but not sure if there is a major difference between the both.
Quality wise, they are alike and I've had both. As to ease of bbl adjustment when it's needed, the Japanese one is superior as it's "spring" loaded. The Belgium gun is coveted only because it's older and Belgium, but the bbl adjustment is more difficult and the forearm needs to be removed to do it.
I know right? I just picked up this one new in box. Production started in 1914 and its still going, but I think they discontinued the 22 Short only model a few years ago.

@@professorpewpuew Thank you my friend!! My Pop has 2 of these guns. 1 is Belgium made and the other Japan. They just won’t shoot without jamming. Its like the bolt is sticky. By sticky I mean it just doesn’t want to feed the barrel like it should and jams more often than not while firing and many times gets stuck and doesn’t want to even let you un jam it. I broke it down for the first time the other day and cleaned it just a bit. Didn’t have everything I needed to be thorough. Immediately after I put 10 shells in it and fired all 10 as fast as I could pull the trigger. Shot great without issue. Then reloaded and shot 4 times slowly and it jammed on the 4th shot. Both guns are doing the same exact thing and we have a friend who has one and it also is doing it. I am former L.E. And have a buddy who is a Police Officer who is a gun fanatic. However he is not familiar with The SA. But, after me telling him what I have you, he said to try a hotter round. Also had another gentleman like yourself on YT who said The SA seems to function better with better/hotter shells. My buddy also told me to scrub the heck out of the barrel right where the bullet lies before firing. @@robertjenkins194 I would start with a detailed cleaning first. You might also check to see if the headspace between the detachable barrel and the frame has come loose. It is possible that could be a problem. The springloaded collar allows you to tighten things back up if the gun works itself loose. You would want it to be tight but not so tight that you can't break the gun down into its two halves.
@@professorpewpuew Great! Thanks you my friend. The barrel is somewhat loose. As a matter of fact I just removed the little lock switch that allows you to lock and unlock the barrel. I was not paying enough attention and let the barrel lock spring and plunger fly out into space while removing the stock. So I have to order them. Almost $20.00 if I remember correctly. Back to the jamming issue, I think you know what your talking about. That makes good sense to me that a loose barrel would cause jamming issues. Now that I think about what you said, I’m surprised it even shoots. I think maybe you nailed it. Gonna try and see. I can’t that you enough Sir. I will let you know how the attempted fix turns out. Great video and very informative, but please get a proper rubber mat to work on your rifle. It's a shame to rake that beautiful blue steel across raw plywood.
