Hi Lloyd, just got myself a Browning XS pro, it was a toss ip between the xs and a 694 but went with the xs. Went out today for it's first shoot, and it feels great. I had a 525 grade 1 spotter. The xs feels so much better, i get hardley any recoil from it. Hope to go out again soon.
I shoot a 425 grade 1 and to be honest for a cheap honest gun it does everything I ask and shoots very well, other than for aesthetics and gadgets I don't need anything else, although I've always had a love for the Ultra XS as my father in law shoots one.
The Ultra XS is a slimmed down version for sporting clays, 5 stand and FITASC. The Ultra XT that you keep comparing it to is for ABT or DTL where the move is smaller. You have to use the correct tool for the job which is why Browning made the guns different in the first place.
Enjoyed the review and a beautiful gun. Just purchased my first over under, a citori cx white. Seems similar in spec just not as stunning a looker. It was only the equivalent of 1600 pounds new though. As long as it gives me the same reliability, I'll be happy.
XS Pro or the Blaser F16? In the market for a new gun, need to shoot both. I know you swapped the F16 for the XS Pro, are you still happy with the change? Cheers, love the channel. 👍
Hi Lloyd I’m thinking of buying the Xs pro sport this week,I’m just wondering are you still happy with the gun, also all the guns I can find don’t adjust the comb in the side it’s from the back,is this a new design, brilliant reviews mate
This is so helpful. I have just returned to clay shooting at the ripe old age of 69. I am torn between this and the 525 SL. My simple question is should I spend the extra on the Ultra? I would really value your input?
@@TownHouseFilms you are getting nicer wood, a trap fore end, titanium chokes, and loads of bits to tinker with but it's the same gun at the core. Only you can say if that's worth it to you.
Lloyd Pattison thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply. I will weigh up the points you raise and see what they are both like in the flesh. I’ve only held the SL so far which felt really good. Thank you once again.
@@TownHouseFilms the biggest difference in the hand is the Schnabel fore end on the SL, I prefer the beavertail, but I really dig the clean aesthetic on the SL. It's a tough choice and I realise I'm not making it easier but you need to handle both and buy the one you fall in love with.
In your videos you really liked the 694 and the pro sport. Can you say why you preferred the ultra xs pro over these two... was it down to price alone as I know their are few used 694s but their are more used pro sport at similar money. Thanks.
Cost and opportunity, I was very much fancying a 694 but I havent seen a single one used as yet. This came along at a price I couldnt ignore basically. If I were comparing like for like at new money. I think you get mare bang for your buck with the brownings, but if you dont want all the bits and bobs the 694 is a proper nice gun for the money.
Hi Lloyd I know this is an older video but I have one of these coming next week Did you neutrally balance the gun? if so how much of the weights did you put in the stock, cheers
Hi Lloyd, I watched the review a while ago and brought one ,cracking gun but I'm getting itchy feet and thinking of px it for a 2nd hand perazzi mx8 32"sporter , is this a pointless swap and should I save my money, cheers doug
Hi Lloyd. Is there a U.S. Browning model equivalent of the XS Pro. I think they sometimes have multiple versions of the same gun with a different model names for European and U.S. markets. You guys seem to get nicer wood & cases!
What's the POI? We can't get the ultra xs here in the States, but there are some less costly options that could be modified with a forend and choke change with some re-balancing.
How long will this gun last? And are the only differences between a ultra xs pro and a 525 Sporter 1 the different foreeend, higher wood grade, and more chokes and the weights that it comes with? Because could I just buy the weights and make it a Ultra Xs Pro? Just thinking about the price if it is worth it.
Hello All, I have a Browning Ultra XS Pro, and have recently had an experience with the gun that I would like to share to find out if anyone here has had a similar experience. I purchased my gun brand new in January 2020 and is under the 10 year warranty. The gun has an adjustable trigger. A few weeks ago, I adjusted the trigger and tightened the tiny grub screw under the trigger. The gun would then fire the first barrel, and the trigger would freeze and not reset for the second shot. My local dealer sent the gun to BWM Arms (the Browning UK distributors), who said that I had overtightened the trigger causing damage. They said this was not a manufacturing fault, was not covered under warranty, and charged me £200 for the repair. I spoke with a respected gun shop, who said they were 'shocked' to hear that I had been charged for the repair, and could not understand how it would be possible to overtighten the trigger. I think if it is possible to overtighten the trigger, then it is possibly a design fault. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their gun and/or with BWM Arms? Thanks
I always preferred Beretta but been away from shooting for too many years (kids) and looking to pick something up again. Really like the 694 but the Browning was an interesting package. Anyway, thanks for your opinion.
Hello Lloyd! Hope you are well and healthy! Could you please tell me your opinion between ultra xs pro and Dt11 silver sporter? I know dt11 is double the price, but is it really worth it? What about the handling and reliability?
Honestly this is a question only you can really answer. If you are shooting the sort of volume the DT11 was designed to handle, then yes, I think it is worth the extra money. However most people are not shooting that much and will be fine with the Browning. However, it won't stop you from *wanting* a DT11.
Very different feel. The 725 action is a newer design, lower profile action, and the prosport has a really pronounced grip and palm swell. The ultra feels much slimmer, more like an old school Browning or Miroku.
Great review of the gun. I just noticed how many times you said “um” throughout the video. I loved the review, but that was distracting to me. It may just be me, but it was hard for me to focus on the gun review and not hear the “um” a ton of times. I used to do that myself and was called out on it. A lot of speakers say okay, okay, okay, as well. I enjoyed your post though.
@@lloydyp all Over and Unders are a Hinges. Design is fundamentally the same. Quality in relational to price is subjective. My belief is all machine made shot guns are over priced! I didn't say they they're junk. Lloyd a Lexus is a Toyota, a Ford Lincoln is a Ford in my opinion.
@@avocado9763 The price is what the market is prepared to pay. I am not defending the manufacturers, but if the market agreed with you then shotguns would be cheaper.
The XS Pro is chambered 3" too. Lovely gun. Like many I was split between the SL and the XS but the amount of adjustability is what swung it for me - it really ought to be a gun for life given the balance, length of pull and comb can be adjusted to suit - with everything in the box. That and the fact that you get a very pretty bit of Turkish walnut makes it a gun to be cherished IMO. My only gripe as a sporting shot is the strange leaning towards the full choke. Would have loved it to have two 1/4 chokes or even a LM in the box. Thanks for the videos Lloyd they are fantastic and I'm sure have kept a lot of people entertained during lockdown (when we could at least watch videos, if not shoot)!
