What’s the Bruce Almighty movie about?
Bruce Nolan’s (Jim Carrey from The Truman Show and Yes Man) career in TV has been stalled for a while, and when he’s passed over for a coveted anchorman position, he loses it, complaining that God is treating him poorly. Soon after, God (Morgan Freeman from Million Dollar Baby and Invictus) actually contacts Bruce and offers him all of his powers if he thinks he can do a better job. Bruce accepts and goes on a spree, using his new-found abilities for selfish, personal use until he realizes the prayers of the world are going unanswered.

Steve Carrell is brilliant and very funny in this scene, but I'm really impressed by Jim Carrey's performance. He learned Carrell's ad lib gibberish and mimicked it absolutely perfectly. No-one can compete with him when it comes to distorting his face in varied hilarious ways.

Well he didn't make him choose anything. I think free will in this context is depicted as the freedom of choice. He controlled him in a short window but didn't make any life choices for him like who he loves. Fast and loose rules of course.

Honestly, the best part for me is at 1:23: the fact that Steve can keep a straight face here, read his notes, acknowledges "oh that's what I'm supposed to say" and then burst into a second wave of gibberish is one of the best comedy sketches in movie ever. The entire scene is gold, but his steadfast nature makes this ten times better.

We humans are simple beings. Although he might have those powers he is still a human with emotions and thoughts. God is omnipresent and has basically mastered these powers. He doesn’t have to think as he already has thought of the past present and future. Bruce on the other hand still can’t comprehend all these powers and might not even think of half of them.

There's a scene where Ted (Ben Stiller) was getting ready to go on a date with Mary (Cameron Diaz). Ted's friend advised Ted to masturbate before the date, so that he'd be more relaxed during the date. When he 'came', he couldn't find where it went (to clean it up). Turns out, it had landed on his ear lobe, & when Mary arrived & saw it, she thought it was hair gel, reached over & took it with her hand, & then ran her fingers up through her bangs. The next scene, they're at dinner & we can see Ted looking upwards a couple of times. When the camera then focuses on Mary, her bangs were stiff & standing straight up. ~ The title of this clip/scene is "There's Something About Mary, hair gel scene 1998 in HD" & it's on the 'ThinLion Films' RU-vid channel. (I tried to paste the direct link to it for you, but RU-vid auto-deleted it, thinking it was spam.) I swear I thought I would go deaf from the laughter. The entire theater erupted in hysterics, LMAO.

The fact that this was so early in his career that he was credited as "Steven Carell" is crazy. It's a minor role, but you can see that he's obviously a master comedic actor, even at this point.

Back in 2013 I was watching with mom tv news, with a very good presenter who was an elder guy and was very good at this job. But that one day he was speaking in a more and more laid-back and funny way, acting like he isn't 100% serious. We were completely surprised as he NEVER acted like that, but everyone liked him, we too, and we tried to explain that he might be under influence of alcohol as a couple days before as it turnt out in calendar there was a name's day of the same name he had. The next day it turnt out, that the poor guy was having a heart attack on live, and we were actually seeing it, he was feeling worse and worse and still didn't stop, trying to compensate with humour and to somehow go till the end of news... It was the last time he was on the tv, as he lost conciousness later, was reanimated and passed away in the hospital on 31st December, so literally at the end of the year :/
