Bruce Lee/Bob Baker LETTERS Comments  

I'm certain those letters are 💯 genuine. After the film Once upon a time in Hollywood came out, Shannon was quick to defend the image of her late father from what this film portrayed him as. After the Bob Baker letters came out the Estate has not said one word to deny they were genuine. To me that says it all. Their silence regarding the matter is deafening. It's also my belief that the drugs were his downfall and led to his final curtain call.

Bruce Lee was human after all. No matter what, I still love and respect the man. May his soul rest in Peace. Ameen 🤲🏾

Stripey, Thanks for some fine videos. I'm 66 and been a Bruce fan since Kato (the real reason we watched The Green Hornet). Hey, he was no different than anyone else in regards to temptations and weaknesses. Just because he excelled in one area doesn't mean he was flawless in others. He is still the reason most of us entered a dojo! On an unrelated issue, karate legend Keith Vitali has a video with Mike Stone (The Mike Stone) where he says Bruce never "trained" him and he confronted Bruce on this. Check it out. Stay well.

Hey Stripey, One of the comments you mentioned said that Linda didn’t want a autopsy done on Bruce, but a autopsy was done and what they did find was small amounts cannabis in his stomach which was dismissed as a cause of death,also his brother Robert had an investigation done on what happened to Bruce after the investigation it concluded that the drug that caused the brain edema was meprobamate which was in the tablet that he took,by the way meprobamate has been banned after it was found to cause death in various people with different medical conditions! Great video stripey mate , I was shocked for a bit when the letters first came about but after a few days & I thought yeah he's only human after all.. just take a look at all the big names around that time especially in the music industry I'm an old school headbanger & nearly all were on the gear but never once changed my love for what they achieved & gave me & the same with Bruce he changed my life completely & now im fastly approaching 50 Bruce will still remain my hero..walk on stripey have a good one mate .

Bruce Lee has and always will be the biggest and most positive influence in my life and thats since I came across him fifty years ago. Bruce Lee was a human being but also a very special one. There are many great people ,who like Bruce, had their flaws. Thats what makes them human (not gods) and we still admire and love them despite those flaws. Good luck with the wedding Stripey. Great Video, I just wanted to add. Someone asked why Linda Lee didn't mentioned about the letters. If she did she would be in trouble cause back in 1973 she had to swear to the insurance company that Bruce Lee wasn't taking Drugs. The letters prove he did and one of the letters is from Linda Lee to Bob Baker. Telling him not to worry that Bruce was not hooked on Coke and the letter also mentioned she had a scale and was weighing the Coke he was sending. All this being said I believe his drug use cut his life short. Thank you for posting this.

Hello Stripey, I found your channel when the arrow 4k boxset was released and wanted to see your reviews. This is my first comment, When I heard about the Baker letters I was overall quite pleased because I am constantly annoyed by the fully grown adults who perpetuate the myths about Bruce Lee as if he was more than human. These letters prove nothing more than what I have always known: Bruce Lee was a man, just like you and me. However he was a great man and will always be my hero. I even named my only child after him. Sorry if this sounds like a negative comment but I can assure you it is the complete opposite, I am comforted by the fact that Bruce was as flawed a human as I am. R.I.P little dragon.

Hello Mr. Stripey. I am a huge Bruce fan from Canada and have been watching your videos for over a year. I really enjoy your content and your willingnes to comment on the facts vs. "Beerdy" type fiction. I actually saw E. The Dragon in August 1973 in its first run! Have seen it at least 40 more times since. LOL Love all the movies and books of course, like most people. Your facts about Enter The Dragon video was awesome. I consider myself a hard core fan but only knew 2 or 3 of the snippets you presented. Anyway my grandson is 10 and getting into Bruce (maybe my influence, Ha ha.) and what really bothers me is the proliferation of those impossible feats (nunchuck ping pong) etc, etc, ad nauseum and pretty well everything Beerdy ever bothered to post. No sources except these mysterious anonymous folks that keep contacting him with "new rare footage and photos". You and I and the vast majority can discern the phoniness (thanks to Kung fu genius and yourself among others) but these younger kids who have no way of knowing better are inundated with false information creating a demigod out of a person who was phenomenal to begin with and needs no such hyperbole and ornamentation to maintain his esteemed status. Hi Stripey, from one old Bruce Lee fan to another (I think we're about the same age), great video. I have a copy of the Felix Dennis/Don Atyeo book, "Bruce Lee, King of Kung fu", which I've had since I was a teenager back in the 70s. I remember an older friend looking at it and pointing out Bruce had a coke spoon in a couple photos on a necklace. He thought it was "cool", but I was like "no way, Bruce didn't do drugs!" Alex Richter pointed this out, too, on his podcast. I still love Bruce and realize he was human. The letters shed a lot of light as to what was going in his life at the time. Like one of the comments said, it gives a better understanding of why this physical icon died so young. Judging by some of those letters Bruce was full on Scarface at times. Hi Stripey. Excellent video. The Bob Baker letters makes zero difference for anyone who is open minded. Just shows Bruce was human, nothing more, nothing less. His body of work still speaks for itself.

My take is he has a open mind to all things in life worth experimenting. We know now that snow is not healthy for continued use, but back in the early 70’s - it was the in thing for celebrities.

What camera and microphone are you using to make your RU-vid videos? You know what they say, the grass is greener on the other side. Your quality, colors, and aesthetic (and sound) are absolutely superb! I've been burning to ask for months. Lastly, do you happen to use any studio lights as well? PS. Even if you tell me, I won't switch to whatever you have. I spent in the upper thousands on my camera (Sony A7R V) and microphone (Shure SM7B) and will use them for the next decade or until they break. Still, I need to know why you look and sound so good. Maybe you're just born with it, or maybe it's Maybelline.

I agree with your views Stripey! Bruce’s bad habits takes nothing away from what he achieved and his many positive influences. Your channel is great for true fans of Bruce to discuss honest opinions and facts. So keep up the good work! I’ve only just noticed this, what’d you think? Most fans know that Keye Luke dubbed Shek Kin’s voice for Han in Enter the Dragon, but the voice of the old man that tells Lee about his sister is definitely also Keye’s!

The Bob Baker letters are what they are.. agree with that. The 60s and 70s cocaine was just rearing it’s head in the market. Experimentation was rife. Those letters are absolutely real. The coke spoon photos are real. Bruce’s behaviour was erratic towards the end - it does make sense. It absolutely makes no scrap of difference to how amazing Bruce was and how amazing his legacy is.

Like your vids mate always enjoy people's genuine opinions about bruce . The man is still a legend.

Bruce Partook of what was around him in that era. Various "substances", freedoms and a whole lot of willing women. Not sure why some people think he is the self-restrained monk he portrays in ETD. The character _Mr. Lee_ in that film was against drugs, didn't drink and did not avail himself of the "escorts" offered at night. IRL Bruce was married with kids, not a chaste Shaolin monk!

Hello Mr Stripey. I think the main reason Linda hasn't confirmed the letters are genuine is because she would have to admit to lying under oath at the cornors inquest. I'm surprised the insurance companies haven't said anything because the policies would have been null and void. Keep up the great work. Take care and have fun.

Didnt know this about Bruce, but i can understand it certainly in the 60s and early 70s . The guy was human after all , lived in the celebrity world in that time period so guess dabbled in it for one reason or another. Still a legend in my eyes always will be 👍.

Great video mate.....what I actually wish is a new biographical film is done on him knowing what we know now. I still think his story is amazing despite what has come out. If anything this humanises him more and the narrative should move away from this superhuman God like person to a human who had many flaws and wasnt perfect yet was still able to acheive greatness in such a short period of time. Doubt his family would allow it though

It is Very sad when people get caught up with drug use , weather Bruce Lee use drugs or not I hope that he didn't , but to me i think that would be something personnel for Bruce And his family , I am 66 years old and I have seen so many lives destroyed by drugs and Alcohol , well like great performers like Jimi Hendrix ,Janis Joplin , Jim Morris , Elvis Presley , and in I think around 2007 or 2008 Amy Winehouse , drugs and Alcohol for lot of these people it ended their lives before they were 30 , and I seen some friends that their lives were ruined by drugs and Alcohol , and here in 2024 there seems like there is more people on these vises then i think I have ever seen before .

I echo your thoughts about the Baker letters, mate. Many celebrities resort to drugs and alcohol to cope with stardom and whatever. Even today! It doesn't come across like Bruce used drugs to enhance his abilities. It seems it was just something he got caught up in. It makes zero difference to me as a fan. I remember reading in a book that Bruce Lee took marijuana. I had no idea that Bruce also took cocaine. The way I see Bruce Lee was a human being just like everybody else. He had flaws just like all of us. The problem with some people we put certain people on the pedestal as if they can do no wrong. Well surprise surprise we all have done something wrong in our lives and Bruce Lee is no objection. Me personally I still like Bruce Lee I like his movies I always will.

@Stripey, I found out that Bruce was taking drugs around 1993, but I thought it was a bunch of nonsense coming from a "know-it-all" Bruce Lee fanatic like myself! LOL Even then, I thought it would make sense since it was the 60s, and that was the norm. Even Bruce's circle knew and talked about it in an "around about" way. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Colburn, Dan Inosanto made comments stating how much energy he had all of the time, and Colburn suggested that he needed something to calm him down. When I first read that, I was like, "Wow, it's true?!" Nevertheless, Bruce has been one of the biggest influences in my life! I LOVE the guy, and though I'm disappointed in his choices, I won't let this change my admiration for him.

I’m with you Stripey. He was a philosopher, a movie star, and a martial artist who lived in the 60’s and 70’s. It would honestly shock me more if he WASN’T on drugs. Doesn’t change my opinion of him whatsoever.

I like Bruce Lee even more after hearing about his drug use. Who doesn't like to hit the heavy bag and the nose bag!? Jokes aside for some people, experimenting with consciousness expanding 'experiences' can help them as a martial artist. For some people- im not recommending anything. I am disciplined and didnt experiment to get high. To me i dont doubt Bruce's discipline due to this. His legend and inspiration is still growing.

I have to admit when i first heard about these letters i thought fake, but then it became fairly obvious they were real. I was then dissapointed but after really thinking about it i realised it was a wholly different time and hollywood so he was doing nothing different than anyone else. His skill speed and charisma is still there for me so nothing has changed for my respect of him. I do of course have to wonder if these drugs had anything to do with his death, it would make more sense to me than the official reason.

These letters don't make a difference at all. Drug abuse is a serious disease which has taken away a lot of celebrities over the years and I'm sure this contributed to Bruce's premature death

Everybody is flawed one way or another. Bruce Lee probably had to take canibis because his muscles were so tense and he had to take cannibis to relax his muscles.

As for Bruce doping up, I think we have glorified him to the point of being a god, physically and spiritually and this revelation lowers that impression as it reveals weakness we don’t like our gods to have. Suffice to say he was a man and an actor, a decent person, but not descended from Mt. Olympus. At the end of the day he too was susceptible to human frailties, no matter the ultra security he projected in body and mind. Of course, some of us would feel let down, but the mistake is more ours than his. We have no right elevating these PEOPLE to the highest standards of idolatry. Be grateful for what he was able to bring to us rather than be frustrated or disappointed by not living up to the standards that WE unfairly set for him.

Cooleye7007 seems a little naive. Nobody would admit there friend, dad, brother, boyfriend, husband.. was taking cocaine. 🤦‍♂️ Do people think Bruce was proud of this? Fuck no. Bruce wanted to stop all of it, he knew it wasn’t good for him, he makes it clear in the letters. It wasn’t a good time in his life when he wrote those letters. Bruce didn’t say take what is useful and discard the rest. That’s a Dan Inosanto quote. This idea people don’t have bad times or make mistakes is ridiculous. If Bruce has got over the slump, and see enter the dragon become the success it become, he may well have been able to get clean, he would have had a lot of money coming in, a lot of offers for more movies, no more financial worries.

Bruce Lee didn't just take cannabis, I also read he took opium as well, I don't think he was as perfect what a lot of people are saying, he might appear that way like a god like person because of his Martial Arts but at the end of the day he's a human being and did have flaws, like cheating on his wife by going out with different women but saying that I still love Bruce Lee for his Martial Arts.

C.mon we are all human, YES each and every one of us. And sorry folks that's all each and every one of us can be. Doesn't make Bruce any less a person but does make him more human. But as often happens the actual blood skin and bone reality of the person gets left behind and jack the giant killer the David who took on Goliath takes over. And as it was with Elvis, John Lennon and others so it is with Bruce lee. But it still doesn't and shouldn't take anything away from lee or any of his accomplishments. Surly we can all now allow him to be more human. But it can't and shouldn't make lee any less a person. Ok Albert Goldman may not agree with me, BUT do we bloody care? Of course we bloody don't. I personally don't think Bruce Lee had any Drug Addiction, he was way too disciplined to allow anything to control him !!! Drug Addicts don't accomplish what Bruce Lee was able to in 32 years of living !!! Was he dabbling ? According to those "Drug Letters" he was dabbling, casual usage. Possibly for anxieties, pain management. What Bruce Lee passed away from didn't sound like a drug overdose. Cerebral Edema and whatever caused it. Getting high certainly didn't help the situation !!! Bruce Lee lived at a time in the swinging sixties and the partying 70's , Almost everyone had casual drug use, the partying Generation !!! LOL. Back then People didn't know much about adverse drug interactions or how unhealthy it was and how addictive and harmful Alcohol & tobacco products were. Medical Science wasn't as advanced as it is now . Bruce Lee just didn't get to the Hospital in time to revive or save him unfortunately. With a bad headache he never should have went to sleep !!! He should have went to get checked out by his Doctor in the Emergency Room, especially since he almost died before !!! We all make mistakes and errors. In Bruce Lee's case they were sadly fatal. 😥😥.
