This guy has brought me to tears for 40 years

Bruce Springsteen crying as he sings "Well tomorrow there'll be sunshine and all this darkness past" was the bandaid I needed to help cope with these last few years.

I'm English and I've no 'skin in the game' as it were. But America. When you're Springsteen's America, you're an inspiration.

The boss has still got it. Its rare to see a songwriter and performer that can paint a vivid picture from a song. I can actually visualize his songs. And imo no one does it better

The fact that he was the first to open the night without any presentation...just Bruce and his guitar shows how this man is the real, pure essence of America...and I’m talking about the great side of the United States...I’m talking about DEMOCRACY, freedom, brotherhood and friendship

This song was captivating, moving, and even a bit haunting, especially as he sang it in the dark, illumined by the Lincoln Memorial. May it be all our prayer for our great nation.

I got literal chills watching this. Bruce looking out at the Washington Monument in front of the statue of Abraham Lincoln singing the perfect song for the occasion. Goosebumps. Welcome back America.

If all the artists would agree , they should make a CD of all the performances from this event with the proceeds going to fight the pandemic . It would be a global hit .

As a non-American, I think it's a message that fits America perfectly, and that's why Bruce is such an iconic American artists. Ya'll Americans should know: we still look up to your shining city on the hill, you still can inspire us, give us a hope for a better tomorrow, we still count on you. Please don't let us down: a lot of people around the world still see you as the land of hope and dreams.

The soul of Bruce’s voice when he does stripped down versions like this, the only problem with this is that it’s the only song they had him do. The video shots with the looming mall and reflection pool, Lincoln, and the voice and guitar is awe in the highest regard. A heartfelt plea by the boss to bring out the best of this land of hope and dreams. No one can do it like the boss does even at this age. As much as I don’t really believe yet meaningful change will be seen soon, this song is the embodiment of the prospect of an America no one could oppose.

I went to a Bruce Springsteen concert during the 2017 inauguration .. he had been invited to the orange one's, but declined. He instead chose to play in Perth, Australia. As far as you can possibly get from Washington DC.

One of the greatest songwriters, and it is amazing how his songs have a ”timeless” quality to their messages. Was there a more appropriate song to perform for something like this occasion?
