Since 1975 I have been listening to this man's artistry...through years as a single man, through years as a married man and father, through years as a single man again...his music has been my companion. He will probably never fully understand what it is like to be on the receiving end of his musical genius. But for what it is worth, Bruce you have moved us in ways few artists can. And we, your fans, are forever grateful for your presence in our lives.
I don't know any other singer in this world that could create such an thrilling atmosphere, such an intense feeling with just his guitar, his harmonica, his incredible strong voice and his wonderful poetry.
Even at 64 years of age, there are nights and performances when the band still has as much magic and soul as ever. Let us enjoy the energy and gift the E Street Band is while it lasts. Oh Bruce, the soundtrack of my life the last four decades.
Im from londonderry in Northern Ireland we love him so much here too. Went to see him in Dublin greatest experience of my life. Will make sure all my children have his vinyls..
you came into my life when i was just 13 ..i am 44 now. man..you changed my life. you stuck with me thru everything. i do everything the right way (or least i try) .. you inspired everything man. what can i say but you are my big brother i never had.
Bruce & I are the same age ! His music has spoken to me more than ANYONE over all these years, even though I enjoy many other artists. It's true, his voice & energy seem timeless/tireless. Young people find it hard to believe we still feel THE SAME inside in our hearts & minds. I have so much respect for this man.
When he said we have been "doing this next July, for 50 years" I couldn't help but say priceless memories. And jealously, I would not mind you doing this for "another 50 years" haha. You can do it because you are the BOSS!
I read the comments below, and it i realise that Bruce ....it just means more, i love you man, and all springsteen fans that feel like this, your my brothers and sisters xxx
Simply astounding! So many great comments - read a few - they are powerfully moving! "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." (Ian Maclaren) Be happy - take good care of yourself!
for 90% of all bands active today this song would probably be in the top 3 best songs they ever wrote. the fact that this was left of a record considered not being good enough and only released as a bootleg is just unbelievable. one of my all-time favourite songs.
Saw him finish a magic concert with this preciousness, this same tour (in São Paulo, Brazil)... It was too exciting! Even today the memory back tears to my eyes. What a myth! One of the greatest artists of all time, no doubt.
I've been listening to his music since age 4, which is 33 years ago on my great-grandmother's old HiFi stereo system (which blew out for good in my mid 20's).
It's been more than 3 years since Bruce played in my home town Kilkenny. It ment a lot to have him here. To me this was one of his finest concerts. Amazing evening
As great as this song and performance are, can we talk about how his finger is sliced open and pouring blood and this man still brings it. What a legend
That woman's face at 4:55 says it all. Tears well in your eyes at some point during this performance and you don't even realize it. A stripped down, lyrical painting of universal struggle expressed through a guitar and harmonica and a voice weathered by experience but shot through with unwavering passion, dedication, and delicate power. Almost no other popular artist has the ability to achieve what you see here. Maybe no other.
At the begging the Boss states in July of 2014 it will mark 50 years of performing. I think when Bruce went to school he must have been absent on the day when have a bad day was taught. He always seems to be upbeat and caring. Not stuck up and surrounded by a team of bodyguards. He relates to everyone.
Hey there mister can you tell me What happened to the seeds I've sown Can you give me a reason, sir, as to why they've never grown They've just blown around from town to town Back out on these fields Where they fall from my hand Back into the dirt of this hard land Well me and my sister From Germantown we did ride We made our bed, sir From the rock on the mountainside We been blowin' around from town to town Lookin' for a place to stand Where the sun burst through the clouds and fall like a circle A circle of fire down on this hard land Now even the rain it don't come 'round Don't come 'round here no more And the only sound at night's the wind Slammin' the back porch door Yeah it stirs you up like it wants to blow you down Twistin' and churnin' up the sand Leavin' all them scarecrows lyin' facedown In the dirt of this hard land From a building up on the hill I can hear a tape deck blastin' "Home on the Range" I can hear them Bar-M choppers Sweepin' low across the plains It's me and you, Frank, we're lookin' for lost cattle Our hooves twistin' and churnin' up the sand We're ridin' in the whirlwind searchin' for lost treasure Way down south of the Rio Grande We're ridin' 'cross that river in the moonlight Up onto the banks of this hard land Hey, Frank, won't you pack your bags And meet me tonight down at Liberty Hall Just one kiss from you, my brother And we'll ride until we fall Well sleep in the fields We'll sleep by the rivers And in the morning we'll make a plan Well if you can't make it stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive if you can And meet me in a dream of this hard land
Wow......the emotion in this song. What was the end of the first tour after Clarence's death (with a few SA dates added). The hesitation and slight choke up is apparent in the last couple lines......Yes, the man makes millions, yes we pay good money to see him, but YES.....he's as emotional as we are, he is a human being, and hence the songwriter and performer he is.
This song makes me think of my dear Brother. He passed away in November 2017. We both loved BS. Songs. We have been listening to BS. Since the 80's. I am 40 now. My Brother became only 44. " hey Raymond wont you pack your bags and meet me down at liberty hall. Just one more kiss from you my Brother and we'll ride until we fall. We'll sleep in the fields, we'll sleep by the rivers. And in the morning we' ll make a plan. Well if you Cant make it stay hard, stay Hungry, stay alive if you can. And meet me in a Dream of this hard land". ♥ I miss him every day. 😢MY heart is 💔
I know it's Bruce..I know he's a legend beyond compare...and i know how this song is so relevant in so many ways..to so many people....but I'd defo have brought the rest of the band in at some point in this performance! Can anyone guess when?
Hola, señor, ¿puede decirme qué pasó con las semillas que sembré? Hey there mister can you tell me what happened to the seeds I've sown ¿Puede darme una razón, señor, de por qué nunca han crecido? Can you give me a reason sir as to why they've never grown Acaban de volar de pueblo en pueblo They've just blown around from town to town Hasta que estén de vuelta en estos campos Till they're back out on these fields Donde caen de mi mano Where they fall from my hand De vuelta a la tierra de esta tierra dura Back into the dirt of this hard land Ahora yo y mi hermana de Germantown Now me and my sister from Germantown montamos We did ride Hicimos nuestra cama señor de la roca en la ladera de la montaña We made our bed sir from the rock on the mountainside Hemos estado dando vueltas de pueblo en pueblo We been blowin' around from town to town Buscando un lugar para pararse Lookin' for a place to stand Donde el sol estalló a través de la nube Where the sun burst through the cloud Para caer como un círculo To fall like a circle Como un círculo de fuego en esta tierra dura Like a circle of fire down on this hard land Ahora incluso la lluvia no viene Now even the rain it don't come 'round Ya no viene por aquí It don't come 'round here no more Y el único sonido en la noche es el viento And the only sound at night's the wind Slammin' la puerta del porche trasero Slammin' the back porch door Simplemente te agita como si quisiera derribarte It just stirs you up like it wants to blow you down Girando y revolviendo la arena Twistin' and churnin' up the sand Dejando a todos esos espantapájaros acostados boca abajo Leavin' all them scarecrows lyin' face down Boca abajo en la tierra de esta dura tierra Face down in the dirt of this hard land Desde un edificio en la colina From a building up on the hill Puedo escuchar una casetera a todo volumen "Home on the Range" I can hear a tape deck blastin' "Home on the Range" Puedo verlos helicópteros Bar-M I can see them Bar-M choppers Barrido bajo a través de las llanuras Sweepin' low across the plains Somos tú y yo, Frank, estamos buscando ganado perdido It's me and you Frank we're lookin' for lost cattle Nuestros cascos se retuercen y revuelven la arena Our hooves twistin' and churnin' up the sand Estamos cabalgando en el torbellino buscando el tesoro perdido We're ridin' in the whirlwind searchin' for lost treasure Camino hacia el sur del Río Grande Way down south of the Rio Grande Estamos cabalgando cruzando ese río We're ridin' 'cross that river A la luz de la luna In the moonlight Hasta las orillas de esta tierra dura Up onto the banks of this hard land Oye, Frank, ¿no vas a empacar tus maletas? Hey Frank won't ya pack your bags Y encuéntrame esta noche en Liberty Hall And meet me tonight down at Liberty Hall solo un beso tuyo mi hermano Just one kiss from you my brother Y cabalgaremos hasta que caigamos And we'll ride until we fall Dormiremos en los campos. We'll sleep in the fields Dormiremos junto a los ríos y por la mañana We'll sleep by the rivers and in the morning haremos un plan We'll make a plan Bueno, si no puedes hacerlo Well if you can't make it Mantente duro, mantente hambriento, mantente vivo Stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive Si puedes If you can Y encuéntrame en un sueño de esta tierra dura And meet me in a dream of this hard land
Makes me think of my family so very much. I had a crazy dream of me and my kids, this song was playing whilst we were on a cattle drive, City Slickers style! Lol :)
