Good Lord. Even after all these years it still crushes me. So many of us loved Warren, people he never met. I hope his family gets messages. Mr Zevon had some serious and painful problems. But his brilliance shone through. Such a beacon...
Had the pleasure to see Warren play in a bar attached to a bowling alley here in Omaha years ago. I have been going to concerts for 50 years and Warren was incredible. I had the privilege of meeting him after the show and shaking his hand. A true talent and a hell of a singer song writer.
The love Zevon engendered from artists of the stature of Springsteen et al just proves that they all recognised Warren's poetic musical prowess even if a fickle record buying public didn't. Bruce wasn't showboating in this clip but rather saying in a unique way... I love you man and helping a dying man make a last record to be remembered by. The Wind is excellent and Disorder In The Housr is brilliant rootsy R&R.
I remember when I first heard this song. I was a callow youth of 19, driving my dad's car home because I'd dropped my folks off so they could have a drink, and I'd be their designated driver for the night. This song came on the radio - in hindsight it was in the running for the Emmies. And I didn't know who Warren Zevon was, and I didn't know Bruce Springsteen was on the track, but I spent the next day hunting this song down because it was the purest rock and roll I'd heard in years. Many years later my wife and I slow-danced to Keep Me In Your Heart at our wedding.
I did too, but Bruce showed up, likely on his own dime, and played out of love, because Warren was the fucking best. It was fun for me to see two of my musical heroes play this song
Thanks for uploading this...I have been fans of both of these great artists since the 70's...The late Warren is missed, but Bruce and E. St. put on a great show at the New Orleans Jazz Fest this year...
True Story, Bruce and Warren went to a bar on Gravity Hill, NJ one night and when they came out Warren said who or what moved our cars, Warren being an intellectual said we need to call some scientists and see what’s going on maybe a trace mineral deposit or something scientific, Bruce goes relax Warren it’s Gravity Hill…Lolololol
