In my opinion the Classic Laddie is not even in the same class as Arran 10. It is hot with nothing else. I believe that it is 3 years and a day old. What is good about it is the bottle. The Arran 10 is simply superb.

Classic Laddie is from 7 to 11 year old not 3 year

Getting through a bottle of The Classic Laddie at the moment and really liking it. Also really liked Arran 10. Both of these bottles are very good IMO.

I’m interested because this could direct my vote in the OSWA’s.

Thanks, if I am ever in Slovenia that information might come in handy.

Maybe that is why they went with glass instead of cork on the Bruichladdich 18. I would imaged very upset folks spending that much and have the cork crumble into their Whisky.

Had both, and they are quite similar. Laddie is more dark in taste, but not necessarily in a good way. Arran is really crispy and refined. Overall, Arran is a better drinking experience, as Laddie changes more, and it annoyed be sometimes by its heaviness. Price considered, Arran is a much better choice for me. No, Laddie does not worth the extra bucks.

I’d have agreed with you if we were discussing the old Arran 10. I found that the distillery bottled a rather nondescript malt in that silly Listerine bottle, with a lot less flavor than 2018, for $30+ more. Perhaps it was deliberate: perhaps the distillery was attempting to reposition itself in the Tomintoul/Glencadam anemic malt fanbase. It seemingly worked, when the new bottle came out at roughly the same price as the old. Now it’s just as overpriced as those two bland Speysiders. The Classic Laddie will benefit from oxidation. Leave the cork off the bottle for 4-6 hours with a paper towel over the opening, or leave a dram in a covered glass for a half an hour. Arran 10 will not benefit so, because a flat flavor profile isn’t very adjustable.

@@annamcmahan6993 You are very welcome. Oxidation can benefit other spirits too. Often a disproportionate flavor note can be rounded off or brought back into balance. This is especially true with estery spirits. I used a fair bit of oxidation to tame the esters in the superb Ironroot Harbinger 2021 Straight Bourbon, after a crash course on esters in Hamden Estate rums. Other unpleasant flavors can be reduced in this manner as well: sulphury notes from some sherry-finished malts, and sour notes, like with that of the Naked Malt.

Amazing Drams, but Glencadam 10 is better than both of them.

Only had Arran 10, classic lady cost 15 € more than Arran. Think they are asking too much.
