I love the skill level of today's game, but I miss this game so much. The mix of speed, skill and brutality is what made this sport different from all the rest.
When I watched Boston games. I always liked it When the announcers said the name Miller, because I knew things were likely going to start getting crazy.
We had season tickets at the auditorium back then. My brother and I were at this game and it was crazy. I definitely remember that altercation between the Sabres fans and the Boston bench.

Gillies last fight.. Shoebottom may have had the best playoff career in terms of fights.. I think he played in like 13 Playoff games and had like 11 fights, he fought Maguire 4 times in 4 games the next season.
It's what made me a fan, I started watching in 1978' and after the Jonathan -Bouchard fight , I was a fan for life. Although Orielly was my favorite player and fighter. I would never miss a game for 20 years and now the game is so tame I sleep thru them.

The Bruins had the extra man at the end there. One of the Sabres should have shot the puck in their own net to cancel the Bruins power play so they could even up the manpower lol. Maguire was a tough guy, a team guy but he wasn't in the class of Miller
Like every other game buffalo has played turned out to be meaningless. They've never won a cup. One of the saddest and most unsuccessful sports franchises ever.
