This is a cool video, I wish you'd do more. I started on 82/30's at 14 years old and work on 82/70's now. A2's fascinate me. It's such a different system, it's very cool. I'd love to learn more about how they work.
Chris C, Thanks for your kind words. I am not working on A2's right now but I will record as I go if I ever work on them again. Read Service Manual, join bowltech.com and make friends with an A2 mechanic in your region. (My two cents) I like the A2's over AMF.
I’ve been working on A2’s for a few years I’ve recently got the opportunity to move a state over and work in two houses. One being A2’s and the other 82-70’s. I don’t know much about them but I’m excited to learn!
Apparently this method worked for you, but personally, I would not trust it. I have replaced several 4 to 1 shaft assemblies in my 40+ years as a Brunswick mechanic. I have never replaced one with the machine at 90 degrees. With the machine at 90, there is no way to sight in the timing marks on the gears to align the gear box. As I said, this method worked for you, so good job. Would not work for me though. Just personal preference I guess.
Thanks for your input. It was the first 4:1 I pulled and I followed a cheat sheet from bowltech.com and referenced the service manual. I agree with you about the timing marks. But if I remember correctly the service manual procedure lowers the deck. I only work on these things (contract labor) when I get called in for a repair. If I repair another one, I will try it at zero degrees. Thanks Wayne W.
Good afternoon guys ! My name is Alan w. I have an oil leak on this 4 to 1 shaft . I believe its caused by a bad gasket! What the best way to fix this problem? I've never removed the 4 to 1 ! I'm a bit hesitant on taking this apart. My phone # is 1-575-760-4401 .
I started on AMF 8230 went on to 8270 have been on A2 for many years. Great video ! These machines are a lot more challenging. Have been head tech On all major brands presently on A2 24 lane centre.keep posting 😀
