Question of the day: What do you cut brush and small saplings with? Would you consider a chainsaw style tooth brush blade? What blade is your favorite?
@sebenro12
@sebenro12 3 года назад
I have the forester chainsaw tooth blade and the Stihl saw blade. Also just got the Oregon two blade mulcher which is friggin awesome! Which blade to you like best for saplings up to 2"?

I saw a very similar video by project farm three years ago. He recommended the renegade blade put it on my Husqvarna 223L straight shaft worked great and I’m still using it. I have been able to cut small trees up to 4 inch diameter. A word of caution. I think you should have mentioned to your viewers always go from your right side to your left side when cutting anything much bigger than 3/4 inch to keep The blade from kicking back at you.

That's a good point and I thought I mentioned it in this video. I know I did in some follow up ones. I like the Renegade blade as well. It's a good all-purpose blade. If you're into chainsaw blades, I have more to test in the next couple of weeks.

I like the saw blade myself! I’ve used the Forester Saw Blade and it definitely has some bite! Cuts through the thick stuff very well. I recently used it to trim down the top of my hedges. It is without a doubt, a heavy blade, but manageable when using the handle for balancing. I do want to get that renegade blade. Heard a lot of good things about it and from your demonstration, I have a good idea as to how to use it. Great review! Thumbs up! 👍🏾 Will subscribe and look forward to seeing more. 👏🏾

Thank you, I appreciate that and thanks for subscribing too. This is a nice all-around blade that does well on brush and saplings. I have a larger chainsaw style blade to test out soon, so keep an eye out in the next couple weeks for that.

Renegade for me! I do a lot of cutting underwater where there is a lot of gravel and dirt you cannot see❗ renegade does not dull out ❗ I also cut a lot of saplings and roots after fresh grading. Game changer for me. It would be very interesting to see a comparison of their other blades. Renegade makes about six different style blades 😁 this blade is the same one I have.

I'm reviewing another brush blade pretty soon, but it's a chainsaw style. I'll have to see what else Renegade makes. That's cool to hear that it doesn't wear out much with all that work you put it through.

I have the Echo SRM 410U. I use the Renegade and Echo Tri point blades. The handlebars and harness are a must for this beast. I cut hedge and Locust trees upto 3 inches with the Renegade. The tri blade is good for everything upto about 1 inch. Your review is spot on. For me I cut a bunch of small 2 inch brush so I keep a supply of Renegade blades.
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
I agree, the handlebars are the way to go. I've helped someone do some cleanup in a small wooded area and it sure makes it look nice to get the small scraps and brush out of there with these blades. Thanks for sharing.

He did a great job reviewing them. What's ironic is that I was in the middle of recording my video when he went live with his. I have a newly designed blade that looks promising and it will be on my channel soon. I'm excited about this one.

The clog at the hood section is why I don't use the hood. I know it;s to protect against flying debris but I've learned to use the blade very carefully. I do not swing the blade too much...which can cause debris to fly around more. The draw back to using a blade is that it doesn't much very good. So you will be cutting long sections of brush that can cover what you are cutting. I'd like to see a brush cutter that can much too...An engineering challenge.
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 5 месяцев назад
If you're cutting thick weeds and not as much sapplings, then the tri-tip blade works well for not clogging with the guard on.

I use a Husqvarna scarlett 225 blade on my Husqvarna 535LK pro combi, it's a heavy blade but it sure does the job! I never use a blade on grass as a decent line does a better job in my opinion. When it comes to thick brambles, nothing comes close to an Oregan mulching blade, it's the nuts!

Use 20 " forester formula sapling work and the Chinese star for other weed work. Great video but ok here goes you need gloves handling urisol blades from poison ivy. Its the same brain wave thinking as chaps. But if you got a reaction rember its the friction and felt naphtha bar soap that works.👍

Can you use the larger 10" blade on echo 2620 pas brush attachment?
@MarkThomasBuilder

Good question. I believe it's an 8" blade for the PAS system. The 10" blade is best suited for trimmers with a 30cc and larger engine.

Our place has areas over run with huge multiflora rose bushes. I was wondering if the branches would get tangled up in it as you try to make your way to the base or even possibly whip them around back onto you. Which of these blade, if any would you choose to tackle these huge nasty bushes as we have a lot?
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
I think a Renegade style will work on that as long as the blade speed is fast.

@iamPhenix_

What kind of trimmers can or can’t handle the 9” Forester blade? I get some jerking around when first starting to spin the blade because of its weight. I have a Craftsman WS4200 30cc 4-cycle. It messed up my clutch drum and I had to purchase a replacement part. I also didn’t have the correct arbor and so the blade wasn’t balanced at first which might have been the start of the problem/damage. I purchased another WS4200 to test it on a brand new trimmer and perfectly balanced this time and while the trimmer seems powerful the jerking around when kicking up the blade at first scares me like it might be damaging something on the inside. Once it gets going though, it’s going and no issues! I just have to slowly throttle it up to speed but you didn’t seem to have to do that. Wondering if I should get the lighter Forester blade but I love the chain saw one. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Great video!
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
Thanks, glad you like the video. I'm guessing you have a straight shaft trimmer? Curved shaft aren't designed for bush trimmers. I'd say yes, it's very important to have the blade balanced with the correct arbor size. I wouldn't run a blade it it wasn't balanced. I'm pretty sure the minimum size for running a blade is 30cc, which you have. I can't think of anything else to suggest.

I’d go with the renegade hybrid for cutting saplings which are the challenge on my place. Is kickback a significant problem with the loop handled weed trimmer? And, where did you order your adapter kit?
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
The adapter kit is directly from ECHO. You can get one from your local dealer or. possibly order from Home Depot. The kickback isn't an issue as long as you're cutting from the 9pm-12noon position on the blade, as your using it.
