Nice truck and build quality and I was about to build one like this but it drives like a snake. The torque twist makes the left front wheel lift up and right rear goes down and makes the truck really hard to control. This video shows it really good and a stiffer sway bar wont correct this twist. That is why I got for the Losi 5ive-T and same motor ESC combo.
Did you notice how long it took to get ready to use I could have run a quarter of a tank before he was ready, it needs one of those sound systems from Traxxis or Associated.Joking aside the backend needs lifting a bit and a harder spring if there were any so thicker fluid would do the same,, he could use the Kraken upgrade sway bar kit to assist handling I would have kept the slipper clutch and stock brake set up to save the electrics from getting hot and prolong battery running time, but this does not reflect on the build I would give a 9.5 out of ten.All in all a smart buggy nicely planned a good looking installation and nice wrap.
I would never convert a gasser to electric. Gasser till the day i die. With that being said i can appreciate the work that was put into this beast. Very nice, very clean conversion. Looks almost factory and it rips pretty nice. Now to convert a Traxxas XMAXX to gas. Hmmmmm.
daign wow, I never said there was a correct way or wrong way to do things in this hobby. I gave my personal opinion and still gave this guy kudos on a job well done on his conversion. Guess reading comprehension escapes you.
Thing is, that nowadays you can buy off the shelf an electric setup will have no problems completely shredding a 100+cc engine of equivalent weight on power (and throttle response)...all that WITHOUT the noise, oil residues and a clutch... The real question is, if it's sane to have an RC car with the power of a small dirtbike, while weighing a fair bit less then said bike and not carrying a rider :D
now now, you can still tinker all you want...there's very little stopping you from designing and building your own ESC or hacking the existing ones. Same goes for the motor. You can build your own battery packs, explore the mysteries of Chineese manufacturing and supply...the sky's the limit...Only problem is it almost never ends up being any cheaper...learning to design and build high power electronics tends to turn a lot of good parts into scrap :D Just like tinkering with combustion engines, it's all about what you know and what you dare to try ;-)
I have a few things to say 1) that things is f****king sick, 2) so much power it lifts the front wheels like the Yeti XL's 3) not even the ALX 71cc would make it run like 15s does and 4) you needs some BRP super spikes !!! I've watched your build since day one of Facebook and it's truly impressive. I love it !!!
Nah, it'll just be a buggy with a blade tied to the back. But, put the blade underneath so it actually cuts grass and you'll have a seriously bad-ass mulching machine.
nitrors4pr ya but spiky wheels on grass is very clumsy.. i got some on my HPI pulse 28 eng. and it suck.. but on ice or snow its BANGING.. i was amazed on my first run with it.. just ad some bigger wheels and good tires.. like the rock crawlers.. big but not to large.. enjoy'
DYE RC would be interesting to see what it'd do if you dropped the ride height, gave the front end some negative camber and some nice sticky slicks on it. Yes, she belongs offroad, but setting her up for asphalt for a few days would be really interesting.
You should try some diffrent tires these are balooning super hard as far as i know there are special tires for cars powerex by 15s also is it suppose to sit so low? It seems like it have almsot 0 ground clearece aside from that really nice car GOOD JOB!
Always been a fan of the 5th scales been driven by a 2stroke but tbh since flying fpv race drones I do now appreciate the power of electric motors in the rc world! Soon we won't be allowed to run oil burners so we'll end up having to run electric motors and tbh I think people will get to like them as there instant power lol! No bogging off the line Boom! It's there POWER is what your all craving I'm afraid this is the way your gunna have to go, but keep running them 2 strokes while you can and keep Ripping!
There's a very similar set up on ebay for $6500 right now with several extra parts. Seller is willing to let it go for $4500 minus some of the extras which seems like a solid deal.
Well, the future of 1/5 scale RC. RIP "gas" oldies :P Nice. I always prefer "eletric" into RC...you can run them in so much more places then the ones with "combustion" engines, with no one calling the police for us to go away! Everybody will just come and watch, instead of calling "autorithy". I respect and still like the "gas/nitro" engines...but like the peace of mind of maintenance & avaiability of places to run them and easy of start up. Gas engines are miles better to start up then nitro...but still i prefer "eletrics". Nice job. Why just you don't leave the lipos on the car...and charge them on the car? I mean, on concrete floor...if you only have "wood" floor or carpet to charge your lipo, well you just need to remove them from the car for safety issues....but if you have concrete or tile floor just leave them on the RC... charge with a long cable either power & balanced...and when you go to the field... it's just a plug that does the job on 2 seconds... can't beat that "easy" part. Thanks for the video. I like it..and you drive it like you stole it... transmission will handle, that one is a real RC! :)
targetingxmod"Charge LIPO'S ON THE CAR"????? Either you never used Lipo's before or your just really reckless and don't care about safety at all. So your telling us that you would take a chance on destroying a $3000 + B ad @$$ RC because your lazy or have no clue what Lipo's can do!!!
Would be nice to be able to charge the lipos without removing them from the RC. However after reading the warnings on them and watching a few videos, no way I'll charge them while installed on the rc.
Its the way the suspension is set up. Its more of a rock crawler and acts like the real baja trucks that cant turn under full power or it will flip. Other 1/5 trucks would work way better and put the power down without wheel lift. Unless it was both fronts lifting due to actually being able to put the power to the ground.
