MAP01 Interloper - 00:00 MAP02 Castrum - 10:40 Ante Mortem is a two level long WAD, where both maps are pretty difficult (surely when you play with Brutal Doom) - both of levels are also pretty much performance heavy, just look at the textures and lighting here. First level has ONLY ~170 monsters to eliminate and is fairly short with you to find just 3 skull keys to leave the map, but you might ask yourself how did someone placed so many monsters on such small map? The answer is pretty simple because lost of the monsters are hidden behind fake walls that will open once you press a switch - then you are trapped inside a small room with pretty much not enough ammo to survive. This is pretty important because ammo is not so plenty and you have to eliminate rather tough monsters (even up to the Cyberdemon that is trapped in force shield), trust me that infighting between demons is crucial to live. Once you have the Cyberdemon's Missile Launcher the rest of the level is really easy, because most of the monsters are already dead and this is one of the best weapons for you to grab (just remember to install a weapon addon, duh). When you exit and proceed to the next level, you find yourself in a pretty bad situation - you are strapped from all of the weapons, ammunition, armor and a backpack, so you need to start with weapon finding all over again from scratch. And this level is fairly difficult also because the ammo is not so often to find like before, so be sure that you are accurate when firing, lots of the demons are cannon fodder like Imps or Chaingunners and these do not like a Grenade Launcher. Oh, and the new update for a Dox addon has reworked two of the weapons with new sprites - previously mentioned Grenade Launcher together with an Assault Shotgun, both of the sprites are phenomenal work both of weapons are also really useful. Grenade Launcher does wonders against big groups of low to mid-tier waves of enemies, when you lob the projectiles in a proper ark, you will eliminate really big groups of monsters, headshots against Hell Knights are also fatal for them. As for the second level I recommend saving for few times while playing, this nasty Arch-Vile trap with 4 of them suddenly revealing behind you is a really painful thing, keep an eye also while fighting a Cyberdemon in hall of mirrors.
imagine being a revenant security guard having to tell a group of imps and zombies that you cannot issue their buddy a temp i.d. due to losing their hell issued i.d., only for doom guy to rush right in and wrecking havoc
It's a feature on Doom Builder where while making the map you can create some sort of silent portal, but in here the portal mirrors itself so it's really just a cyberdemon and a doomguy mirroring themselves making it seem like there is more space and 2 cyberdemons. It's a nice trick since what the "mirror cyberdemon" does can also affect you because the rockets can travel across the portal. It might sound a little bit crazy but you can watch the following video and have a better idea about what I am talking about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oUCji83Xt50.html
Amongst all the evil that hell can conjure..... All the wickedness that mankind can produce.... We will send on to them only you.... Rip And Tear until it is done! HELL IS TEMPORARY BUT DOOM IS ETERNAL!!
The problem with these Doom mods is that it doesn't translate into a finished game. It would be great if the weapon sets, interface, game mechanics, map set, everything were compiled into a separate campaign.
Out of curiosity, what do you keep your weapon bob settings on? I'm referring to the "view bob amount while moving" and "weapon bob amount" speed in your HUD options menu. Let me know when you can! Thank you.
For some reason I still can’t get Dox to work :( I’ve tried loading it both before and after the Brutal main mod but it always crashes with a decorate error or something.
@@kaledmarrero1011 Basically, it's Vanilla Doom Enhanced Edition (Not to be confused with Brutal Doom V19 EE, since it's been dead years ago) sort of thing?
