In Brutal Wolfenstein, the awake and death state sound effect were taken from some Wolfenstein 3d games like Wolfenstein 3d, Spear of destiny(including return to danger). Like the elite guard says: Awake state sound effect: "Schutzstaffel" in Wolfenstein 3d and spear of destiny. "Wer da?" In spear of destiny return to danger. Death state sound effect: "Mein Leben" in Wolfenstein 3d and spear of destiny. "Tod fürs Vaterland" in spear of destiny return to danger.

Some sounds were taken from Return to Castle Wolfenstein like the Luger and Kar98 firing sound effects and some of the voice lines of the Nazis are taken from RTCW also

american weapons were taken from medal of honor AA and gzdoom. german ones are from RTCW, same as most of basic soldiers quotes, but some are from original Wolf3D and its spinoffs. You can actually tell from which game the quote is by the quality of the sound track, original quotes sound more muffled, even in this gzdoom engine.

I think that’s better in my opinion. also, not all maps look like this, most of the maps retain their original height somewhat, albeit it may seem weird since it’s in the Doom engine

Lol. I'm playing in the version from 2019 and the dude doesn't show up, when I pull the second lever. The door is still closed and the game says I need a golden key. Looks like a bug.

It seems like it uses the same weapons, functions, controls and sound files from "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" (2001). With additional sound files, sprites and other details taken from the "Spear of Destiny" expansion of Wolfenstein 3D. I'm not seeing any Doom 2 in the game at all, though.
