Brian. I have just discovered your channel, let me say I’m thoroughly enjoying this build series. Your attention to detail is terrific and craftsmanship to be able to fabricate replacement items is a skill which basically I wish I had. Look forward to the end product in this series.Take care and thank you. 👍👍

Nothing worse than bolt not fitting because of the powder coat? How about bottom of the piston cracking off causing the rod to punch through the engine casing locking the back wheel causing a crash which bends the frame both wheels tank and rear swing arm.

Wow that is worse, did that happen to you? Thanks for the comment though, cheers Brian

Ah this is the life, sitting here watching your video, drinking a Guinness and waiting for the BBQ to get ready, 24 minutes perfect timing 🙂 Thanks Brian for sharing and putting this all together, loads of editing eh. By the way, what's your background, why the BSA and have you always been working on bikes?

Thanks again for the comments, just to let you know that I am not an engineer but have been working on bikes since I was a lad, my background was in the building industry, I’ve been a “hobby machinist” for over ten years, self-taught with the help of RU-vid, Abomb79, Tubalcain and a bunch of other pro-engineers, a small Lathe and Mill is all I need for what I do. No theory just watch and learn. Love BSA and all things British, still riding at 73 with pals I grew up with. Thanks again, Brian

@@500dbd34 Thank you for the reply Brian and it's very inspiring to hear that you have only been doing it for 10 years - wow, you could have fooled me! It's great to hear that you are riding one with your pals that you grew up with, how special (and you do NOT look like 73). I really like the BSA likes and would love to own/ride one, maybe one day soon. I was going to ask you what you do with your bikes you restore, maybe open a museum one day eh 😁 - looking forward to the next episode. Thanks again.

Martin Robinson Correction, I retired about 2002 and bought my first lathe at that time, I thought about going to night school to learn how to use the lathe but discovered old Tubalcain on you RU-vid and have been watching him ever since, don't need the theory at my time of life just look and learn will do. Cheers B

@@500dbd34 Hiya Brian, regarding the Tubalcain RU-vid channel you mentioned, is that the one by "mepete222"? or is there an actual channel called Tubalcain? Thanks

Martin Robinson , Hi, Tubalcain and Mr. Pete are one and the same. He calls himself your RU-vid shop teacher. Iv watched him for years and learnt a huge amount. Cheers B

Hi Brian . I just came across your films of restoring bsa MUF 109 . What a surprise ! This was my bike back in the day ! I bought her in Brighton in 1977 and did many thousands of miles on her . There used to be a brass plaque on the back mudguard from Redhill motors in Brighton. I could tell you many stories about this machine. I was in my 20's then. I did all the work on her myself . I and my lovely girlfriend went all round the country on this machine on the old A roads - many trips to my parents in North Wales on the old A5 Watling Street. I bought her for £100 when I was at Brighton Art college with a loan from the bank - the manager was economical with the truth because he wasn't meant to lend money to students to buy vehicles . The B31 is a lovely machine . It's quite pokey when you get up to 60 or 70 in top-gear and I've always found the plunger frame handling impeccable. I remember having trouble with the bike when it kept stopping when warm and tearing my hair out with whipping the head on and off , making no difference. It was the mag. of course. It was a wonderful surprise to see my bike again after these years. I suppose one is always a biker . I have had my plunger M21 for 43 years now - since those same days ( I remember those two bikes parked side-by-side outside our student house in Brighton ) and a gorgeous black and silver plunger A10 , which is just right for shopping .. and .. My black plunger B31 which I got as an "unfinished project" on ebay . Boy , was it unfinished ! but its ok now . They're all on the road and are greatly admired as you don't see many Beezas out and about nowadays . So it's a real pleasure to see your bike. I nearly fell off my bar-stool when I started watching your film and there was MUF 109 coming out the back of your van ! Well done for sprucing the old gal up although its a pity in a way to see the old original BSA " Devon-red " paintwork disappear . Keep it up ! Best , Beeza Bob , Brighton 🚲 :)
