Again, Brian, It's a pleasure to watch someone as talented as you work. Gotta ask, did you ever do this for a living? Your experience shows by leaps and bounds over any other video on "Good ole BSA" I've ever watched. Wish you lived around the corner as I spend time working on my 1964 Thunderbolt Rocket which I bought new in 1973. It was the dealers's Wife's bike for the first 8000 miles, then I put another 30,000 miles on it over a 3 year stint in the Good ole US Army. It served me well and It will run the roads again. 👍

Amazing work on the lath, but great camera and editing work, I know how much time that takes, we appreciate the content!

Great video.I invested in the fork seal holder tool and wish I'd done that years ago (especially for removing them). Also found an o-ring works quite well in the groove to help the seal. Strangely I've never had to fit shims for the top bush, I guess I've been lucky with sizes.

Hi, thanks for the comments, sometimes I wonder if shims are necessary I try to work to the book if possible though. O rings, twine or ptfe all work I guess. Thanks again, cheers Brian

I don't think twine ever worked :)

Hi Brian, I had a few questions. as you progress with your restore. will you be covering the oil pump rebuild or inspection along with the rest of the engine rebuild too? Thanks for all your great videos
@500dbd34
@500dbd34 4 года назад
Hi, I will be inspecting the oil pump gears and testing the flow on a simple rig in the mill, look out for that, if you check out my other restorations you will see the test, not sure which bike but I think it was the b31 engine swop. I'm not able to do much with the pumps other than a free off good and clean, Check out Dave Flintoft who is a Gold Star specialist, i've see his rig which measures flow and pressure, h'es the expert, he's brill.

Great video, but that's not how to use the plunger fitting tool, the threaded rod is popped into the holes in the frame long end in first, tightened so that the short just eases in over, your way works but it's more difficult. I wish I had your skill with the lathe!

Thanks for that, I did search the internet for advice on using that tool but there is very little. Some guy was using a G clamp and very little else. If your able, to can you show us how to do it on RU-vid the service sheet from BSA is not very good either. Thanks for the comment though always appreciated. Cheers B

@@500dbd34good idea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t7dk2e4CD7c.html sorry neither my shed nor my video skills are a patch on yours, but the local BSA gang told me how to use the plunger fitting tool. Here's hoping the rest of my build is half as good as yours!

@@TheWonderfulStevieP Hi, yes I can see now how to use the puller tool. this is what RU-vid is all about, sharing knowledge, thanks again B
