BT Digital Voice Handset: Disable voicemail beep

I am am independent videographer. I have worked in the telecoms industry for over 20 years but I have never worked for BT. Non of the videos I have produced about BT Digital Voice have been sponsored by BT. You are obviously having some problems and I have got sympathy for you but unfortunately I can't help. You need to contact BT customer services. Good luck and I hope BT are able to resolve your problem.

Press the green voicemail symbol to the top right of the OK button or call 1571 to access the voicemail service. Then listen to the voice mail message - make sure you listen all the way to the end of the message and listen to the options available. From memory I think 2 is SAVE the message and 3 is DELETE the message. Select one of these options and this will clear the voicemail symbol on your handset's screen. If you know which option you want (either 2 to SAVE or 3 to DELETE) then you can tap one of these numbers before the end of the voicemail message ... you do not have to listen all the way to end of the message. You only need to listen all the way to the end of the message if you cannot remember which number to tap.

As far as I am aware the voice mail service cannot be disabled. I haven't tried this ..

I guess that as your Mum holds the phone to her ear, her fingers accidentally touch the mute button. Unfortunately I cannot see any way of disabling the mute button. My suggestion is that your Mum uses the phone as a speakerphone - this would mean that she is either not holding the phone since it will be on a table or whatever .... or if she does hold the phone she will be holding the phone differently (i.e. not to her ear) and therefore not touching the mute button.
