Thanks for uploading. BTCC was incredible in that era - its popularity in no small part helped by TOCA on Playstation. Didn't know Eurosport also had coverage. I remember watching on BBC with Murray Walker commentating - I'd even say I preferred it to F1. It's a shame what happened to it.
Great racing, when Plato stalled his Renault in the start, and tryed to restart it, the engine restarted and stalled instantly, then on the next attempt, the starter broke, and just hissed when he tryed to start it. On the Swedish broadcast they showed that sequence.
Hard to believe all of them are out of the btcc now, Plato been the last one to call time in after 2022 season, after Matt Neal calling time back in 2020. Shame the btcc is a shadow form of its self now, compared to these days.
This era was the btcc at its very best, its a shadow form of its self, if that now. Its gone more club level and there are less teams joining, in the last couple of years, a few teams have come out of it, and the remaining teams have gone from been 2 car to 4 cars, Practically most of the teams are running 3 to 4 cars, and i think only 1 team is running 2 cars,
I think the next season they binned off the 4x4 system and went either front wheel or rear wheel. but again it sounds like its the same war, with Rear wheel drive, " rear wheel has an advantage" laugh was a front wheel drive that wont champion ship the most and it was mainly a Honda. But the Rear wheel drive only got jumped on because to won the champion ship a couple of times in a row, and a certain driver kept complaining about it, laugh was he would later race in a rear wheel drive!
