also not sure if you noticed but RM talks about tear as in crying, Suga says tear as in tearing/ripping apart and Jhope combines the two at the end when he sings along the lines of "why does it flow? why does it get torn?"

So according to the boys themselves (from Break the Silence), Outro Tear is about BTS, about them on the verge of disbanding back in 2018. With this new meaning it's full on crying time!

This is one of my absolute favorites BTS songs. The rap line did amazing job, and the live performances of Tear are so enjoyable to see, the rappers always deliver, they are always lit and on fire. Hobi really shines in this one and it saddens me that even in 2019 there are people who are questioning his rapping skills. Wake up people, Hobi is such a great rapper. :-)

Did you guys catch the difference in the two "tear" words?? That one is the crying kind of 'tear' and the other is the ripping something 'tear'??? Y'all probably did, but asking just in case cause I listened to the song a lot before I realized lol xD

It interprets each member's view of breaking up. It's tear for Namjoon, tear (like tearing a piece of paper) for Yoongi and fear for Hobi. I'm not too sure bt i remember something along the lines from one of Namjoon's vlive(sorry my english is nt that good)

I’m sure people already told you butttt... The boys use the word “Tear” in two different ways: (1) tear as in crying - RM raps about this (2) tear as in tearing something apart - Suga raps about this (3) therefore the chorus RM is saying tear (crying) and Suga is saying tear us apart (4) this double meaning is why the opening lines of J-hope’s verse are “why does it flow? (tears) why does it get ripped? (tear things apart)”

I love the BTS and Stray Kids rap line! This song gets me so hyped but emotionally, I feel like I’m about to burst from excitement while listening lol. How everybody comes together with different meanings and the melodies, it’s so amazing 💖

They go between 3 things, actually. RM sings of "tear" for his bitter weeping, Suga sings of "tear" for the ripping and shredding of his heart, and Hobi sings of fear for the trepidation of opening his heart again (which is particularly poignant for him to sing those lines, as he had a girlfriend cheat on him in the past). Which is why when the three of them sing the chorus, RM: "You're my tear, you're my you're my tear" (crying), Suga: "You're my tear, you're my you're my tear" (ripping - if you listen carefully, you can hear the difference in pronunciation from RM's tear), Hobi: "You're my fear, you're my you're my fear", RM: "What more can I say, you're my ***" (leaving it blank to allow the listener to fill it in with their personal heartache (tear, tear, or fear). It's another example of their genius wordplay.

Love, love, love this song! Tear and Epiphany are, for me, the most powerful songs to see live. This was actually at Soldier Field in Chicago, day 1. It was freezing, and we could see their breath at times it was that cold (I have a clip, but couldn’t figure out how to attach it). We spent our vacation fund to see BTS that weekend, so had a good view of the center stage. Believe me, no one was feeling the cold during this performance!

I feel the same actually. Whenever I feel down, I feel the need to hear this. This is a painful song but it lifts you up somehow when you hear it, it's like getting your anger out of your system...

Lyric videos don't really do this song justice. It needs a whole 'explained' video to lay out the genius lyricism and complex use of the korean language. Like, people have written whole articles about this song to explain what a masterpiece this is, for real.
