The song in question was War on Hormones and I never thought it was mysogenistic at all but cutely shows how teen boys think. 💜💜💜 BTS write their own music.

In my 39 years in this world, I heard misogynistic lirycks from artists from US and UK I can't find everything wrong with the song in question....

A large part was the translations were really bad. I watched a Korean reactor react to it with the English subtitles and said that they were really bad. The song isn’t misogynistic.

RM is the main songwriter in BTS, plus they have in house writers too. Suga is the main producer in BTS . but they all have a say in the lyrics, direction of a song, the musicality of it and even how they look. which most k pop groups do not have a hand in. every song that has rap, each rapper writes their own verses always. they have solo projects within BTS that they write and or produce or both. they also have mix tapes and now recently albums too. Suga ( rapper) predominantly wrote, composed and produced most of his own album as well as his mix tapes. so compared to many K pop groups BTS is not the norm. they don't put on fake personalities ( as instructed by many k pop companies) , nor dress and act like they are told common in k pop and don't even have a say in what kind of music they can sing. it seems that may be changing a bit now in some k pop companies but its still not common. and sincerely I consider BTS a group of musicians not so much K pop. they are an anomaly in that industry. . I have not a care for K pop in general and I believe most BTS fans are part of the general public and are not k pop fans.

Sounds like BTS is definitely unique in the industry! I love the passion that they have for their fans and that they inspire in one another!

It's so heart breaking to see and hear of this, they were so young and fandoms (including adults) were going after them mercilessly. That's the part that is mind blowing to me, full grown adults going after these very young adolescents that were just working towards a dream. I'm so VERY happy that BTS has ARMY, so glad they made it through all of that. I see why they fought so hard to keep BTS down, every single one of them are VERY talented, solo and together, incredible!!! They (BTS & ARMY) continue the fight for fair representation today, look at what they did to Jimin's solo album (BBMA always changing the rules) to keep English speaking, payola on top. Radio will only play their English songs (which radio play the biggest part in some of the awards), it's quite amazing how corrupt the industries are. It really amazed me that the K Pop industry did so many bad things to them to try to keep them down, but now of course they claim them. Mean while the western music industry is doing whatever it needs to, to keep the English speaking artists on top. They are by far, the most accomplished artists (not just K Pop), but yet scammed out of a Grammy; their lyrics, music, messages, all of that and they get passed over, for real? I love JK, support his music, just wondering why if he's being nominated for a Grammy, why isn't RM, his album is just incredible. Awe....can keep going on, but so glad BTS has ARMY!!!

It’s a shame to hear how the industry has snubbed these guys because their music, their message, and their personalities are amazing! I wish I had discovered them earlier!

I grew up in the states. there lyrics were no misogyny at all, and im a woman and have never been offended by anything BTS has sang about. Misogynistic lyrics that is def a US market thing and yet people never talk about as they should here

(Just a side note for pronunciation of one of the guides you will be doing later, Bora City. Bora means purple in Korean. You might have seen the term Borahae? That means We purple you, which is a combination of the fandom/BTS color purple, and the Korean word Sarangae, 사랑해 which means I love you. 💜 Her channel is Bora City Magazine.) And you are definitely accurate to say that all performers wear makeup. In their off hours they are barefaced and still beautiful! BTS has set many many trends. (Bora City has a video on that, which I know you will find interesting). However, there are things they did that were common to Korean idol groups. All genre’s of creativity take inspiration from each other. Be it music, architecture or fashion.

At 14:22 This "BREAK WINGS PROJECT" by antis was highly effective in my country at that time. This was also the very reason why I couldn't be open-minded to BTS' music sooner. I'll give you context if you wouldn't mind. In this project, antis were impersonating ARMYs by making fake accounts and pretended to be BTS fan and then spread highly toxic stuff to other groups so that fandoms from other groups could hate on BTS as well. It was awful. At first I was like, why are these fans making their favorite group look bad? If they spread too much hate, of course people would hate them as well. It was later on when REAL ARMIES noticed what was happening, they stalked the fake ARMY accounts and noticed that most of them are new accounts and has no posts about BTS or whatsoever so they were trolls. That was when ARMYS reputation became so bad that it made people such as myself to not check out BTS. I'm not saying REAL ARMIES could not be toxic but generally they don't attack first unless provoked or has insulted BTS.

Wow! That’s terrible to hear that people actually impersonated BTS fans! Good thing that real Armies figured it out.

I believe that the song War of Hormone was the "misogynistic" song. That song was so tame especially compared to the crap American rappers put out. It's actually quite a bop, and is one of my favorite songs of theirs. The hate these wonderful boys have endured and still endure to this day is unreal. Immature babies who can't take the time to support their favorite artists, a d instead, waste all their time and energy bashing BTS. I'm a 69 year old fan of BTS, who finds all of these fan wars stupid and childish. I LOVE BTS and will stand beside them through to the end. They are amazing. Their whole message is love and kindness. I just ignore the jealous aholes who can't find it in themselves to show the same.

And to top it off it's not even misogynistic, in my opinion anyway, it's a song about teenage hormones and the way we all have thoughts and feelings for the first time about things we didn't as kids etc and the translation of the song did make it seem "worse" than it was. But it is such a bop. 😊😢

This is true especially that the media and the industry was very against them. That's why it saddens me that I have just joined the fandom now that they're on hiatus because they were portrayed as superficial and overrated. And back in the days where kpop was getting popular 2016-2017, it was cool to hate BTS for no reason because apparently they looked like girls. And because apparently their fandom was highly toxic. But now I just became a BTS ARMY I get why these people defend BTS too much. I generally avoided kpop because it wasn't for me, but I didn't hate nor like it. Why would I obsess about people just because of their good looks? Damn, I regret not getting into BTS sooner. Their lyrics and the topics they tackle are really deep and is not commonly addressed. Had I known their story, their personalities and what they stood for, I would have defended them years ago, now that I know what actually happened.

On a sidenote, there is a lot of tension between Japan and Korea, because of the atrocities committed with comfort women. So when BTS, wears a shirt in support of Korean liberation, Japan is very sensitive. Japan is never apologized for the comfort woman events and that causes much tension.

The JK burger incident was horrible. If you watch the full original clip, you can see how he is trying not to cry. He was just a kid, and he had used his own money to buy food for the crew. Even though he was broke. He didn’t have his members around to protect him. Army are still angered by his mistreatment even though he forgave the host years later.

Wow! That’s terrible! I feel like I needed more context for some of the incidents because I never fully understood the cause of some of the death threats that members received. A few commenters explained that it was jealousy from other fanbases which is still hard to believe.

i know youre new so you wouldnt know most of this but bts are very different from majority of kpop groups and western boybands they were never "groomed" in fact bang pd the ceo of bighit said this about bts "not immaculate idols groomed amid studio culture but real boys who shared their authentic personalities and talents with the world". they have FULL creative freedom and freedom to live how they want as long theyre not breaking any society laws like taking drugs, drunk driving etc but bts do not have rules. english speaking media does the same thing as korean media and they either dont report on bts or they make up lies. you probably have seen many articles that say things like "kpop idols are controlled puppets, they cant date, theyre forced to diet, they have every part of their lives controlled, they cant get tattoos or drink alcohol, they cant curse or be sexual etc" when the reality is yes SOME labels have SOME of those rules. some have those rules only for the artists when theyre minors because children still need some form of rules and the parents are trusting the labels to care for their kids. but for the most part many labels have one or two of these rules. when it comes to BTS specifically. they can date, they ALL have tattoos, they ALL drink alcohol, jungkook the youngest member does live streams while drunk its very funny. theyre not forced to diet its similar to how athletes are put on specific diets to stay in shape again some labels force unhealthy diets but bts diets are normal. bts literally do whatever they want and have done so ever since they all became adults. of course they had rules when they first started and when they were trainees because they were children but as they reached adulthood those rules became nonexistent. bts curse all the time especially in their music and while they havent been as sexual as american artists they have many innuendos in their songs and have recently shown more adult sides to them example the explicit version of jungkooks song seven. this narrative people keep pushing about bts or kpop in general has some truth to it but for the most part is incorrect. theres actually been many idols who have been openly dating, getting married, having children and staying in their groups. as for the creative freedom ever since bts became global in 2017 a lot more kpop artists have been given creative freedom its not enough but its moving in the right direction due to bts impact. which is something bighit ceo has always wanted. he created bighit because he didnt like the way the kpop industry ran he used to be a producer at one of the big 3 labels and he hated how artists were treated so he made his own label and promised he would give creative freedom to the artists he was obviously successful and now bts impact caused a shift in how the industry works. bts has ALWAYS had creative freedom since 2012/2013 when they first started. and this isnt just limited to song creation but also music video creation, album design, merch design, concert production, stage outfits, red carpet outfits, clothes they wear to airport etc bts always has a say in everything they just choose to leave some things to staff if theyre too busy since they know these people for 10 years they can trust their judgment. you would think from stereotypes of celebrities theyre just told what to do every moment but bts arent and theres footage through 10 years of them making decisions changing things asking to refilm something or cut something out or change a outfit or produce or write a song etc everything is documented plus 1000s of interviews in different magazines, newspapers, tv shows in multiple countries and languages. it would be very difficult to keep up lies with all the content they make over the last 10 years. also as for celebrities watching what they say etc bts have never censored themselves. when they were younger as you can see in this video they apologized even when they did nothing wrong but now in 2023 they flat out go against what people say and stand up for themselves and you can find it in their music too. bts have always been honest in everything they do and have spoken on many topics that most celebrities would stay away from. bts have many protest songs and risked being blacklisted by their government but they still performed the song on live tv. theyre real and wont sugar coat to make anyone comfortable and people hate them for it besides being jealous of their success but thats why bts is successful cause theyre real artists who stand for what they believe in. cant wait for you to go deeper into their music please dont just stick to music videos bts have many more songs without music videos and also when you react to bora city magazines videos theyre very informative. :)

I would say the rappers curse the most, in their solo work, and more recently others have cursed in their solo work. IMO, It makes them sound like Western artists and degenerates to say that BTS curses “all the time” in their group songs. Although you can definitely find it in the groups songs. And the innuendos are also more some of the rappers solo work, and recently JK’s Seven. I would also say that, for the most part, only RM swears a lot outside of their music. JK occasionally, but mostly, the rest keep it pretty clean.

I know you keep asking "why?" Of course there's no explanation for the kind of negativity and threats they received except jealousy and hate. Of course there's no validity to it and there doesn't need to be for those people. Many of those comments came from other fandoms because they didn't like the fact that BTS was rising to the top.

It could be a cultural thing, but I don’t completely understand why people can’t appreciate more than one artist.
