BTS FILM OUT Explained: MV, Lyrics + Connections to the BANGTAN UNIVERSE (BTS Theory) 

This MV has a lot of theories and clues but- I’m too dumb to understand them so thank you-

Has anyone else noticed the bookshelf around the window looks like the sprocket holes on a film strip and how certain shots frame members like a movie shot? The details in these videos are so numerous, Army has to view it over & over to see them all! Kudos to BTS and Bookish Theories for keeping this Dope Old Person’s mind active & healthy!

In my notes, I found where I mentioned floating doors before. I forgot where I saw those doors, but I clearly remember seeing the doors somewhere with BTS 😅 Remember this comment I made about seeing doors everywhere a while back. (The "floating doors" are back in the "Film Out" mv this time.) I’ve noticed “doors” everywhere for a while now. There are mirrors and reflections too. I mean with all three TXT, BTS, and Gfriend. There were doors at the beginning animation for BTS Press Conference for BE. (The doors were in the sky with clouds and ended with BTS's door logo.) In the BE concept photos, they were all in separate rooms with doors, and in most of the rooms; there were two sets of doors. TXT are in separate rooms in their comeback showcase/performance and in the concept photos. (Why does it feel like they know more about Carl Jung’s dreams with that annex room and doors? I know why it’s important for Carl Jung. I’m actually understanding why all the groups use those doors, mirrors, and reflections. For Jung, it’s because he was starting his research on Alchemy at that time. And I wonder if both groups realize it with adding doors everywhere.) Doors are represented as turning points in one's life, windows and doors are also seen as a way to escape from what’s keep us locked in reality. Carl Jung dreamed about the self as a house. It was when he was about to begin on a new path in his work. It’s a kind of dream that many people have at key turning points in their lives. Jung writes, “before I discovered alchemy, I had a series of dreams which repeatedly dealt with the same theme. Beside my house stood another, that is to say, another wing or annex, which was strange to me. Each time I would wonder in my dream why I did not know this house, although it had apparently always been there.” (An Annex is a building joined to or associated with the main building.) Jung didn’t notice it there in the first place, it’s like he forgot it was there. “Finally, there came a dream in which I reached the other wing. I discovered there a wonderful library, dating largely from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Large, fat folio volumes, bound in pigskin, stood along the walls. Among them were a number of books embellished with copper engravings of a strange character, and illustrations containing curious symbols such as I had never seen before. At the time I did not know to what they referred; only much later did I recognize them as alchemical symbols. In the dream, I was conscious only of the fascination exerted by them and by the entire library. It was a collection of medieval incunabula and sixteenth-century prints." (An incunabula is an early printed book, one printed before 1501.) Doesn’t this remind you of Jungkook finding the book ‘Magic Shop’ in the VCR of “Magic Shop” and the VCR from TXT with the library and the ‘Eternally’ book? "The unknown wing of the house was a part of my personality, an aspect of myself; it represented something that belonged to me but of which I was not yet conscious…." (These are all quotes from the book "Memories, Dreams, Reflections" by Carl Jung.) Jung’s dream of a new wing on his “house” was related to him discovering Alchemy. For TXT, I think the theme of a “new wing” on their “house,” a door that suddenly appears and which leads into a new room. TXT is always finding doors to rooms and places in their memories/nightmares or dreams and now in reality with their different rooms. Maybe it’s because they are growing as artists and it’s a turning point in their lives, right. Making mistakes, but learning from them. The turning point of their youth to adulthood is still part of their music.

I also noticed that V has an hourglass in front of him early on in the music video. The hourglass is on its side which to me represents his ability to see the different time lines.

All members are Jin’s inner children. Jin the eldest and Jungkook the youngest represents past and potential future . Jin is wounded child that remembers and Jung kook is potential child who is intuited. Like child behind and child ahead

You know I always write these notes before I watch your videos :) Before I say anything about the mv; that "BigHit Music" icon and sound is so pretty. I love it already. It's a nice change from the older sound and design. I was like this the whole time 🤭🥺 with some tears in my eyes. Wow, just wow this music video is so beautiful. Did you hear Yoongi sing; it's so good. Wow, the crazy door scene with Jin, I was so surprised and I remembered something about it. I still feel so amazed that I can see all these little details that I mentioned before in this new music video. So, remember when I mentioned the doors or floating doors in another theory video. The doors are in the "Film Out" mv and it looked like Jin is still going through different doors or timelines. That door scene really stood out to me, which also reminded me of TXT HueningKai and Soobin going through doors. It's still part of it all; going through windows and doors. (I think the doors were part of the "BE" press conference.) Namjoon's part in the track and mv is just like in the "Save Me" Webtoon when Jin tries to save him but failed many times. (Also, Namjoon's rapping sounds so nice, a lot like in the "Mono" playlist and "Life Goes On.") Also, did you see Taehyung at the end of the mv? He's also noticed things just like he did in the "Save Me" Webtoon. Tae is also involved with Jin right, so that makes sense. Taehyung dreams about all of them still. And you talked about Jungkook and the odd-eyed cat, Fake Love, and other things. You were right about Fake Love and everything. I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but you know the HYBE video BigHit posted about and we see BTS in a white room with a giant Jungkook. Did you notice Jin behind a screen/window on the wall and he comes into the room through there? Well, it wasn't a screen just an empty space, but you get what I mean. It's so similar to the part in "Film Out" where Jin is outside the room or frame looking in through the window or mirror. It's like a mirror too when Jin is always in front of a mirror and about to touch it, which reminded me of the mirror scenes in TXT's "Eternally" music video/film. There's something about the part where Jin stands watching everything through the window (at 1:00 in the mv) and the room he's in is a mess, then later the room blows up again (at 2:33 in the mv) and the room was still a mess before it blew up. It's like Jin is reliving another memory or film. (It’s a clever way to show the recurring time. Let’s face it time is difficult to portray in films/movies.) The "...my life like is a movie...all the time..." from Jungkook's "My Time" makes sense here too and it's part of the Map of the Soul. Also, Laina Sunflower talked about whenever the glass or mirror breaks it signifies the end of a time loop; you know whenever Jin goes back in time the glass shatters when he fails or succeeds in the time loop. Jin and Namjoon are connected too, in "Reflection" the Wings Short Film #5 a mirror breaks. Mirrors are made of glass. Before mirrors were manufactured, pools of water were often used to see a reflection and we know that's also part of their concepts too around water and the narcissus story that's associated with mirrors/reflections. Namjoon trades in a shard of a mirror at Magic Shop in the "Fake Love" teaser #1. I wonder if that's why Namjoon is moving around and the others are frozen in "Film Out." I'm sorry there are so many little details, but it's all connected. Also, I wanted to mention the mind is like a maze or labyrinth since it’s the memories and most of this is going on in the subconscious. They are usually depicted as stairways or doors and stairways to the door itself. I wonder is Jin really stuck or is he going to face his fears and deal with them. He went back into the destroyed room and Taehyung is still having those dreams. Jin feels guilty for betraying his friends and that guilt never went away, that's why he is stuck in a time loop and tries to save everyone. It's his guilt that's keeping him from moving on and finding the map of the soul. How do you find the "Map of the Soul," if you don't know where to look? Jin doesn't understand that looking inward can be the answer; it can be memories or parts of your soul that you hide because those are inward aspects that you have to face. In this way, he has the map already. He just has to fight his way through his fears. Really think about it, all of this is about growing as an individual, and to grow spiritually you have to "Face Yourself." Face who you are even if it's painful. The "journey" you take to find yourself/your soul is the "map." It's not a physical map that tells you where to go, it's a path to being the better version of yourself that you chose; it’s always your choice. Self is the last part of this, isn't it? It's the part BTS hasn't talked about fully in their music. Almost all of the songs on the new Japanese album "BTS, THE BEST" are also in the album "Face Yourself." After watching Laina Sunflower’s theory video, for some reason it reminded me of "Howl's Moving Castle;" you know the door that can take you anywhere in the world. That could also mean TXT can go through a door to another space/place or the same space/place that BTS is in. Doors connect timelines so why can't they connect spaces/places and you know that ENHYPEN or hyphens connect things too. There are so many references to films and animations. And the concept of "Film Out" reminds me of the animation process. How animations are made; we use moving pictures or drawings. Each frame is a different movement combined to make a complete moving picture. I wanted to ask what does Yoongi and Hosoek's scenes mean. Is it something to do with the Shadow and Ego or is it that both of them can feel that something is wrong with Jin and what's going on? Was Jin not able to save them? They were both back to back with the door frame, almost like a mirror with their reflections. Not just that they're both in a desert setting and they always use the desert as a metaphor for struggles. Namjoon's part "Decay too far gone absorbing no light or water...Sealing my wounded heart with a rootless, leafless vow..." reminded me of plants and how they decay without light and water. And in a desert, most plants don't grow. It also reminded me of the flower Jin was protecting in "Fake Love" that disappeared or turned into sand. Jungkook finds the lantern and sand. All this time Jungkook was kind of aware of Jin, even if Jungkook didn’t know what it was. Jungkook witnesses everything in "Fake Love" with each room and his friends. We know Jin outside the window frame sees everything playing out in the memory. Jin (the one that's outside) now knows that Jungkook can see him holding the hourglass in the memory. Jin knows that Jungkook is now aware of it all too because Jungkook also made a deal with the odd-eyed cat. It explains why Jungkook was never in a room like the others in the "Fake Love" mv. So does Jungkook now understand why Jin did what he did? Maybe that changes everything now and Jin can finally save everyone. Let's talk about the colors too in the music video. The primary colors are used a lot in their music videos; red, blue, and yellow. Jimin had blonde hair in “DNA” and “Serendipity.” Doesn't it also show up in the DNA music video? The yellow sun or moon with Jimin laying on the ground in "DNA." Also, they were a lot of yellow in the mv, some of the boys were wearing yellow and even the background with the yellow warehouse. The whole mv is saturated in shades of yellow. Not just this Jungkook wears a yellow jacket in "Euphoria." Also, "DNA" is the second track on the BTS, THE BEST Japanese album. For some reason, yellow is used to show maybe innocence or happiness. Have you noticed in the movie Coraline; she wears a yellow raincoat and the rest of the colors are grey and blues in the real world the other place had so much color. And like the "Little Nightmares" game, the little girl wears yellow. I know in color theory yellow represents happiness, and optimism, of enlightenment and creativity, spring. To add to that “Serendipity” had to do with "The Little Prince" story; he always had that yellow scarf and he has blonde/yellow hair. Yellow is also a color of caution too. In "Film Out" the color yellow looks like a sign of caution, right in the middle of the destruction of the room. Plus the room Taehyung and Jimin were in was all yellow didn't seem like it was good. It’s like they were stuck in a room by themselves again. There is also blue in the "Film Out" mv just like some of the walls in the "DNA" mv. (The same shade of blue too.) So many blues, yellows, and reds. So I've noticed the colors blue and yellow are also used in the Map of the Soul: 7 album logo. (The number 7 is in yellow and blue.) In other words, color is very important to BTS, TXT, and the other groups.

Since I haven't read a lot of BU related books except the omelas story and the notes 1 so I'm not sure. But according to what you said I think that you can also connect the omelas story and spring day by taking jungkook as the child who has to be miserable for the happiness of the city and the city is depicting the 6 friends who experience happiness at the cost of the jk's misery. So the story is still continuing since no one knows where the ones who leave omelas go to and probably its the 6 frnds. I'm srry if I confused you but I also like making theories ever since I was an ARMY 😅💖💖
