I love what you said! “They are very respectful of the original work”. That sums it up beautifully. There has been some reactors, and lots in comment sections, (Mostly Americans), that talk about how they didn’t like it, because it was special to the black community, and how they shouldn’t sing the song because they don’t know what it’s like, they aren’t Hiphop and don’t know what Hiphop is, etc…… 🤨. I’m so glad you said that! Because they do show respect to the original but still make it their own. When you have something great, you don’t need to try and over due it, and change it, and try to top the original, It’s not necessary. They also covered “Born Sinner” by J-Cole. It’s called “Born Singer”, they have a lyric video, and a live performance, I think you guys would like it. Also “Hiphop lover”, it’s a lyric video and it just talks about their Hiphop influences and paying homage to those that came before and led them to where they are today. It’s really good!💜

i agree with you that they were very respectful of the original work. Jimin's voice was angelic, the rap line were very good as well.

This song they were singing to Army because of the COVID and they were being respectful of the original. And when they did Coldplay's Fix you, they didn't change anything and respect the original. I heard on an interview that it's not easy that Coldplay gives permission to sing this song because it means a lot for them.

The BBC asks as part of their format on Live Lounge for artists to perform one work by another artist. So what makes this interesting is that this is not a true cover in the commercial sense of being recorded as part of BTS's catalog with the expectation of financial gain but a one time event cover which highlights their connection to a single work. So yes, the comment of it being respectful literally hit the nail on the head. BBC which is a huge forum in their format was not looking for a song restructuring but an interpretation wherein the performing artist could demonstrate how the song choice has meaning to them.

“They are very respectful of the original work” - Which is The Police/Sting song "Every Breath You Take" from 1983. In several parts it reminded more of this original version, but as the title says "Puff Daddy, Faith Evans and Sting Cover", it's also a cover of the the cover version (1997) with the clear intend of missing someone. While the "original" cover was directed towards the death of their friend/husband, this cover version is more directed towards COVID times in which we weren't able to see each other, the group not being able to tour to see their fans and vice versa. EDIT: Ok, I know the Puff Daddy/Faith Evans version is more of a sample (guitars) & interpolation (chorus) than a cover.

Jimin in Let Me Know (live version on BangtanTV), Jin (low and high) in Dionysus (use a lyric video or ask someone for the best SAFE TO VIEW* live), and V showing off his vocal range in Stigma (lyric video or the compilation live). You will be blown away. *HYBE will block attempts to react to performances from any of their online concerts which are paid access (It's only fair to those who paid to view them), but rarely issue strikes. Usually covering the video so viewers can't see most or all of what you're watching is sufficient to upload your reaction. OTOH, there are plenty who aren't so lenient. Sometimes the copyright to live performances (particularly pre-pandemic before HYBE filmed all the lives themselves instead of the broadcasts) is owned solely by the broadcaster (such as MNET, MELON, & CJE&M) & award shows are particularly prone to this issue. They do periodic manual searches to catch anyone who slipped through auto-detection & will issue strikes, frequently for multiple videos, all at once. If in doubt just revert to making sure anything you react to is on HYBE or their BangtanTV youtube channels. Similarly, Japanese distributors hold exclusive distribution rights to BTS' Japanese language songs. They are VERY strict & consider RU-vid to be part of their rights of distribution. This is why you see so few reactions to BTS' Japanese songs on RU-vid. I've seen a lot of people requesting Airplane pt 2. Be aware that the MV for that song is the Japanese language version & could get you a strike. It's best to save reactions to any Japanese language songs for a Patreon account if you already have or decide to open one. You could always attempt to change pitch & cut the video up, mirror it, AND not show it on-screen intermittently to try to avoid the copyright strikes. Neither the Asian broadcast stations nor the Japanese distributors will allow what should normally be considered "fair use" even with pausing and commentary, and RU-vid takes a hands off approach and refuses to mediate these disagreements. This is what was written in a article from Elite Daily. - RM began their performance by saying, “This right here goes out to everyone that can’t see someone that they truly love,” before launching into his verse. Although he kept most of Puff Daddy’s original English lyrics, RM also made a few subtle changes to reflect people’s experiences during the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of rapping, “Reminisce some time, the night they took my friend,” RM said, “Reminisce some time, the night they took my chance.” He also changed the finishing line from “Give anythin' to hear half your breath/ I know you still livin' your life after death,” to “Give anything to see half your face/ I know we’re still living our lives after this.” -Suga came in with a powerful verse in Korean that continued RM’s theme about the pandemic. “We’re now used to our routines taken away / But still can’t give up living on/ We’re more worn out because we don’t know where this ends / We’re an island we made ourselves because we couldn’t trust each other.” Suga finished his verse by saying he wished the pandemic would end, rapping: “Hope an end comes for this tiring pandemic virus / Negative thoughts can sometimes be a minus/ I knew it wasn’t the end so I couldn't say bye / When that day comes, will say ‘Hi’ like nothing happened.” -J-Hope’s verse was equally emotional.
